  1. I have ridden the Abyss, but personally, I find that all speed slides are pretty much the same to me. With Disney, it's about 50/50. Blizzard Beach is almost entirely ProSlide (yay!). Typhoon Lagoon has a pretty even mix of ProSlide and White Water products.
  2. ^ Oh, sorry. I thought you were talking about the ride model called the Abyss from White Water West. The Abyss at Atlantis is just your standard body speed slide. Nothing more than that.
  3. Based on my visits and Atlantis's website, there is no such slide. The Abyss is a multi-person raft slide also, not a body slide.
  4. When you say "Entirely", does that include the slides not mentioned on White Water West's website? Like Abyss at the Bahamas and all of the water coasters in both the Bahamas and Dubai. Every slide that is at both locations is manufactured by White Water West. White Water West heavily markets its Master Blaster water coasters and their implementation at both Atlantis locations. Basically, if it is at Atlantis, it came from White Water, which is a shame, because I am a major ProSlide fanboy.
  5. Both Atlantis locations are supplied entirely by White Water West. I personally think that they are just about the same in terms of the water park, but the Dubai hotel is more luxurious.
  6. I actually strongly disagree that the Abyss is better than the Tornado. The Abyss, while larger, lacks the circular shape of the Tornado. Instead, the Abyss just has two gently slanted walls that do not feature any angle change. It is really a shame considering how impressive they look. Having been on both as well as the majority of both ProSlide and White Water West products, I can say that ProSlide generally wins innovation, slide design, appearance, and thrill level over White Water.
  7. Is it just me or does 850 pph seem kind of low for an hourly throughput.
  8. I think that a candlelight vigil needs to be conducted immediately. This couldn't be worse. Not that SF is horrible, but it's no where near the standard of SeaWorld.
  9. Since when do Intamin drop towers provide less of an out of control feeling than S&S? I have always found that Intamin towers have superior thrill, airtime, speed, and out-of-control feeling.
  10. Yes!!!! Another old and boring coaster is open! I wish Intamin made more jet-coasters.
  11. I feel like, a lot of times, family ventures eventually cause conflict. I honestly hope that this is not the case with the Koch family, though.
  12. On a positive note, Flamingo Land does have the smoothest SLC in existence. I actually enjoy that ride. They seem to have pretty good luck with rides that historically are brutal. Maybe this will follow suite. I'm not optimistic though...
  13. Well, now I know the source of tonight's nightmares. I hope you're happy Flamingo Land. I love Zamperla, but not when they make this coaster.
  14. I know that Polin is the primary supplier for this park, but will they be supplying the play structure as well?
  15. I wonder if they are planning to do any extra bracing to the structure since it swayed so much.
  16. I still prefer Proslide Tornado slides, but this looks like a great alternative.
  17. It's funny how Alan Schilke went from a roller coaster genius for the 4th dimension coasters, to mediocre designer due to problems with the 4D concept, and now he is a wooden roller coaster revolutionary through RMC.
  18. From Amusement Today. I wonder if this could be the end of these horrendous Chinese knockoffs?
  19. ^You talked about Formula Rossa being rough. Is it just a rattle, or something more? This surprises me since Intamin rides are generally more smooth than other rides.
  20. ^ I actually really like the cars for Wicked. I found them to be comfortable and very accessible for a wide variety of riders. They tracked well and I found the restraints to be very comfortable, even though they did kind of get tight at the bottom of the first drop. The cars on Bombora are equally, if not more, comfortable than the cars on Wicked. I have ridden Bombora many, many times during both its first and second seasons and never had a problem with the audio. So, I actually do hope that Lagoon goes with Zierer for the trains.
  21. Have you ever been to Lagoon? It's a great little park with MANY thrill rides. Sure, it has a lot for the family, but it also has several thrill rides that make it a much more well rounded park than many parks in the nation. Quite frankly, I think that Lagoon is what Shapiro wanted for Six Flags, minus the licensed characters of course, during his presidency. A place where there is something for everyone.
  22. As awesome as this is, it worries me that the park has been focusing so heavily on the water park rather than the rides park. I mean these slides look amazing, but it seems that the water park is the new focus of Holiday World now.
  23. Regardless of the issues that Voyage has had, I feel that Holiday World and GG have a great relationship and that relationship would be hurt if Holiday World gave Voyage topper track. Moreover, I really don't think that GG would appreciate having Timberliners on a ride that was retracked by a competitor.
  24. If you look at their website, it's pretty hilarious. The names that they give their rides are interesting. It's like they aren't even trying to hide the fact that they are ripping off these rides. Check out this page: http://www.china-sbl.com/eng/ProductInfo.aspx?m=20120801130251077488&n=20120905102851077622 It's for their SLC knock-off, but what's that on the top of the page? Oh, it's a Premier Spaghetti Bowl. Interesting choice...
