  1. Wow, maybe this should be the shade tree thread. Sorry, I live in Atlanta-a pretty short drive away-and I totally want to see this great new park but being a southern boy I know how brutal the summer heat can be in SC. When I look at the pics I see a giant brick oven and lack of compelling landscaping. Hopefully the breezes off the ocean will help! Anyone know if there will be characters or streetmosphere?
  2. Ok, am I the onlyloser noticing the incredible lack of trees/shade? I'm guessing with all that concrete, brick and metal- coupled with the scorching SC summer sun- this park is going to be a real shake-n-bake!
  3. I am so diggin this.....
  4. Wow! Here's to hopin' the darn thing is better than the craptastic DCA version. Love Paris DL, btw!
  5. There is an amazing sense of intimacy in your work. Good stuff! Keep it up!
  6. OK, this is just my opinion, but I found the revamped SM at DL to be a wonderful and painless ride. It was smooth as all get out, and tons of fun. And I happen to love the Paris version, as well, but for different reasons.... Since I trot to Orlando almost every year I can tell you that our beloved East Coast SM really needs some TLC. If they do anything remotely new and fresh I will be tickled pink. New cars? Bring it! A fun soundtrack? Bring it! Enhanced effects? Heck yes! Those wicked glowing gates at load would be awesome!
  7. This is me as the Easter Bunny for a bunch of two year olds at the BF's niece's birfday party.
  8. Awesome! One of the best TRs I've read! Good Job!
  9. Me on Castaway Cay this month, waiting for my conch kooler! me
  10. ECZenith, TOT in Orlando is stellar. The outside queue is perfectly realized, the lobby is amazingly detailed and the ride itself is long and creepy and unruly. TOT at DCA is like lighting a firecracker only to have the fuse extinguish for no reason. There is no forward motion of the cars, no horizontal movement, no starfield... nothing. The rider goes up, down, down again and then it's over. Even Michael Eisner got off of it and said it was too short. Like everything at DCA, it's just underwhelming. Shame on Disney for doing it on the cheap. I will gladly throw my money to the mouse each year, but I expect Disney standards from yester year. Sigh.
  11. Went to DL for the 50th and tried valiantly to keep an open mind about DCA. I really did. It didn't work. The park is lacking heart, it's ugly and has no focus. Half of the stores and resaurants were closed (that wharf area was deserted) and the rides...geesh. Can someone say Ghetto Fair? Screamin was fun, but TOT was a complete dud, IMHO. Soarin was nice, but Mulholland Whatever was just lame. Grizzly River Rampage Roarin Rapids whatever was more than decent. We toured the place for about two hours and once we did everything I longed to head back to DL. While all the other Disney parks I've visited have really found a place in my heart, I can't imagine ever forming an emotional attachment to DCA. I just didn't "get it." Still don't. While I think the improvements will do much to help, I still just don't understand the lack of focus. Someone explain to me what The Little Mermaid ride's location means...makes no sense. And what does a Cars ride have to do with the California Walt first discovered? Was there a Cars Land back then? Another big ol theatre as the centerpiece of the park? Didn't they try that in Orlando, only to cover it up with a giant hat? Fingers crossed they fix DCA. It needs it.
  12. Was having this discussion just the other day with a buddy. When I was younger I would ride ANYthing. Spin-n-spews? Bring it. Coasters? How many inversions? But these days I seem to be less excited about going up real high and banged about. Coasters seem to be more and more about being terrifiying and not exciting. That's why I am psyched about the new terrain coasters! Last year I was talked into riding Acrophobia at SFOG and I had to sit down when it was over. Needless to say I swore off Drop Rides after that nightmare! Last month we headed to Dallas and I almost had a heart attack on Titan. It was officially the highest coaster for me so far, and the lap bars-only configuration and the first hill had me absolutely terrified! So, needless to say I don't know if Millineum Force will ever be in my future! This growing old stuff sucks!
  13. KidTums...omg! The most adorable little girl! Great report, as always!
  14. It's a toss up between Haunted Mansion DL, and Mummy USF.
  15. Without a doubt 1. Cyclone at SFOG: bruised tailbone 2. Manhattan Express at NYNY in Vegas: cut (and bleeding) lip
  16. My personal best is Loch Ness Monster. 14 times in one day back in 1984!
  17. Ok this news broke the DAY AFTER I booked my first ever cruise! YIKES! Here's hoping we'll have some pixie dust with us on our cruise since it's Disney.
  18. I really like The Black Hole but no one else did.
  19. oh man, totally onboard for this rehab. The last time I was on SE I thought the track was gonna fall apart! Some of the squeaks were so loud it was almost impossible to hear the narration (and even that was spotty as the speakers kept shorting out)! I have my fingers crossed they won't add any characters to it, Pixar or otherwise! High School MusicalThe Time Travel Tour, anyone?
  20. CFC! That is sweet! Love it! ROFL! It wasn't ironic-it was just BAD LUCK, stupid girl!
  21. Being someone's bitch all day. I am someone's bitch in traffic for three hours a day then I get to work and I am my boss' bitch for eight hours then I get home and there's a lot of housework to do...so I am my house's bitch. For one day I would love to call the shots.
  22. Rode BTF while in Orlando in February-and we were totally underwhelmed. The whole experience was just so dated! I was shocked that you could see the other Deloreans in the room going throught their routines. After reading so much about this ride I can't say that I am disappointed they are taking it out. Infact, I thought that whole area of Universal seemed a little dated and lame.
  23. The new paintjob on Scorcher is TERRIBLE. SFOG is my base park since I live in Atlanta and I was really disappointed in the new paint scheme that is all one color. There is no separation between the track itself and the box shaped support. Very amateurish. I'm guessing the cheap bastards did it to save money. Why pay for three colors (structure supports, track and box support) when you can do it with one. See Superman... now that is a sharp paint job and fitting of a superlative B&M.
