  1. This is the nicest this thread has been in a few weeks and it’s because we directed discussion toward a completely different park
  2. ^ I'd take a meh-looking girl with a great personality over a girl who look great but has a personality I dislike any day
  3. Actually from what I hear Great Escape is actually a pretty nice small sized park. La Ronde though...
  4. Enthusiasts often have really poor definitions of a "family coaster." Yes, it's "family oriented" in that it's not an extreme OMFG I'm-about-to-die experience, and that children who've gotten over the fear of inverting may like it, but it's not a family coaster by any reasonable person's standards. Honestly anything more intense than Sooper Dooper Looper can't be called a family coaster imo. From what I can tell based on reviews, it's still totally in the park's top 3 (depending on how much you like each of the B&Ms), and it's definitely a thrill ride.
  5. Just checked up on the park's rcdb page, and it turns out that after changing their name to "Wonderland Eurasia," the park has finally opened! This should be interesting to follow... Here's a few articles talking about the park opening for those wanting some more details (I have not read them all in full): https://www.dailysabah.com/ankara/2019/03/20/europes-biggest-theme-park-wonderland-eurasia-opens-in-turkeys-ankara https://blooloop.com/news/wonderland-eurasia-ankapark-opens-ankara-turkey/ https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/03/20/giant-theme-park-opened-despite-rusty-roller-coasters-other-safety-concerns/ https://www.trtworld.com/turkey/europe-s-biggest-theme-park-opens-in-turkish-capital-25119 Some intersting notes: *Three of the articles said the park claims they have (or will have) 2117 attractions. I'd really like to know where this figure came from, did someone at the park's PR make a typo? This number seems absurdly inflated. *Their website ( Wikipedia says this is the link) is not up yet, showing just a loading page with "Coming Soon" in Turkish *The park does have a youtube channel, with a video announcing their opening date (March 20th) and an "introductory video" (linked below, has some footage of the park) P.S. Sorry if this is against the rules for posting significant news before mods, though I'm assuming it's ok since nobody has really been talking about this park, and this happened two days ago.
  6. It certainly looks very nice...but I think they should talk to some of the other cedar fair parks next time before the select their background music!
  7. Great report, and great photos too! I haven’t been to Canobie, but from what I gather, you’d love Knoebels (assuming you have not been). Hope I can make it out to Canobie I me day! Looking forward to the next installment.
  8. Not sure when this happened, but Hersheypark has has updated their 2020 expansion page with a few more details, including a map showing the position of the new expansion, the new coaster, and a basic idea of the layout. Going to be quite interesting seeing two hypers so close to each other!
  9. ^ That's just a general motto for life
  10. A lot of the wooded areas can't be used or developed due to environmental laws. That's why a Fortnite based VR attraction would be great! Compact and doesn't need much land development, but would be entertaining! Six Flags have already tested VR on coasters, a full VR attraction is next logical step! dude. just give it up. . Fortnite isn't gonna happen. Shhh...the more we talk about it, the longer we draw it out
  11. Probably for the secret S&S super-strata coaster that will shuttle guests between SFOT & SFFT. I’d give it a solid 40% chance. Just my speculation though...
  12. Google maps still shows Son of Beast @ Kings Island - you can even view it in 3D!
  13. Time Traveler isn't controlled spinning. It's free spinning. Time Traveler is controlled spinning. Its spinning isn't controlled by a motor, but there is a magnetic (I think) brake on the ride that slows down spinning if it gets faster than a certain speed. The park actually put a considerable amount of effort into stressing that the spinning is controlled so that it doesn't spin too fast like you'd see on many actual free-spinning rides.
  14. This model is looking absolutely beautiful. A part of me really wants to take a ping pong ball and just let go from the top of the lift and see how far it goes (once it's complete), though it would probably just catch on the support underneath the rails and fall of quickly Can't wait to see this thing completed!
  15. Where are these numbers coming from? I recall it being mentioned that Cedar Fair doesn't typically release individual park figures, just chain-wide figures.
  16. I mean, we’ve gotten two new ground up thrill rides in the past few years, so we could probably expect some modestly sized thrilling flats over the next decade or so. As far as a ground up coaster: I’d say it could happen, but don’t get your hopes up. Also, glad to see progress on Firebird. I honestly was expecting that they would only have installed a new sign and ripped out some theming, and open the ride in June, so this is a pleasant surprise!
  17. Really? I thought Sidewinder was quite fun with the new restraints when I rode it last summer.
  18. If you wanna enter GAdv on two separate days, I'd get the Season pass, particularly when factoring in parking ($25 last time I checked).
  19. So I did not hear about this until browsing RCDB just now: According to RCDB, Laser will be making an appearance at Wierner Prater this year! Glad it's still running! Even though I've ridden very few Shwartzkopfs, I'm glad to see that this one seems to be doing fine!
  20. You could hit all the coasters in one day, but that would be doing Knoebles a disgrace. You should spend one full day at Knoebles minimum. I spent 1.5 days and still had plenty left to do.
  21. Are pass holder preview nights open to anyone with any SF pass, or are there restrictions, like having a certain level required, or requiring that it be your home park?
  22. I think it looks like they built structure than they did. The pics from before made it look like there was a lot of loosely supported structure at the top. If the loosely supported structure at the top buckled, it may have made a chain reaction that brought down more of the structure with it. Once the ride is done, there will be no more loosely supported structure, so the ride should be able to support strong storms.
