  1. Sure, why not? Might be nice to get some night rides on Superman.
  2. ^ You have to be delusional to think the park will get a coaster. Maybe it will eventually, but I've been down this road too many times.
  3. That's pretty funny. Although I would never call it "Steven" out loud. It's just a shorthand for typing purposes. Like Christmas and Xmas.
  4. I can't wait for some "gourmet" Mac and Cheese. Hopefully it'll be part of the dining plan. I don't see why it wouldn't be.
  5. They should start adding little plaques commemorating great quotes from Robb's POV videos. "And we're turning... turning... and... we're turning some more!" - R.A., TPR These would be some really fun plaques!
  6. I went the day after you, and there was about one hundred billion people in the park. Ghostrider was a 1-2 hour wait. Thankfully the shortest line was Silver Bullet at about 20-30min. It's been a long time since I've been to KBF. What a beautiful park! It's so dense.
  7. I think what this name change has done in drawn attention to the fact that the name was offensive, if not racist, all along, even if we didn't realize it. A rebel yell is literally a confederate battle cry, and in 1975, that's exactly what it was a reference to. If people didn't realize it, or they thought of the Billy Idol song (which came out in '83), it really doesn't change the fact of its offensiveness. The new name is more inclusive, and it's a good thing. At the end of the day, the name's not that important, as long as it's not offensive. They could rename The Beast to "Indoor Cat," and it would still be the classic coaster it always was.
  8. Thank you! Yeah, I think TC has to go straight into the top 3 for me. Next RMC will be TT back home in March, and then SteVen in May. I think yesterday got me even more hyped than I was before. There's no mincing words with you. I'm curious what kind of words you have for the ride you hate the most...
  9. He's just angry I think. And I also think he just convinced me that name change is okay. Long live rACEr 75!
  10. Went to the park for a full day today, for the first time since 07, and I wanted to share some thoughts! First of all, if you can make it out to the park right now on a week day, DO IT. Wow it's empty. It felt like there were a couple hundred people in the park max. We didn't wait for anything at any point in the day, except X2, and even that was ~15 min. TC was my first RMC today, and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. The ejector air is ridic in every seat, and the stall is succchhh a cool element. Got 8 rides in, and 3 of them were cresting-over-the-first-drop-at-the-same-time-bonafide-duels. And the ride ops worked very hard to get duels in. TC was running 2 trains, so I understand it wasn't always possible to make them duel, but when it was, they hustled, and it showed. X2. Ugh. I have such positive memories from riding it in its opening year, and then later in 07. Today it beat me up good. I hated it. Could it have been my seat? Sat in the front outside left side. Of the B&Ms, I loved Tatsu and BTR - it's amazing how smooth and well BTR runs. I wasn't feeling RR, but it wasn't rough at all, like other stand ups, and it's very photogenic with its new paint. Scream had a gnarly rattle. I'm guessing the issue is with the trains, and not the track, and that it can be fixed. But that combined with it being a parking lot coaster made it very unenjoyable. Other than that, what a great day. Non stop coasters for almost 8 hours with no lines.
  11. I agree with this the most. Especially since the the 3 (?) US B&M dive machines share somewhat similar layouts. They're all Lift -> Turn -> Hold -> Drop -> Inversion -> Another drop -> rest of the ride... I'd love to see something like Baron or Valkyria, in terms of layout. I've only been on Griffon and Sheikra, and they're just great, but they kinda feel like they're all about the first drop, and nothing else. I'd never complain. But I'd like to see something a little different.
  12. Other options include "whirling coaster," and "gyrating coaster."
  13. Nah, they'd raze the trees to make the path.
  14. Yeah, it's cool. The rental agency may want to know about your plans, that's all. Additionally, US auto insurance covers you in Canada, and your renter's / homeowner's insurance will cover theft.
  15. I'm a big airbnb fan. I see some whole houses available about 15mins south of the park, right at that intersection, for ~$150 a night. Little bit cheaper than that La Quinta, and waay better quality.
  16. Nice report! I'm going to the park next Friday, and I hope I have a similar experience. The last time I was there I waited almost 4 hours to ride X.
  17. This is about the most I could hope for. That would be fantastic. Also, a comment and a question: 1. The red line is roughly the path that has been talked about for nearly two decades now. It's not going to happen. 2. I've always been curious. Whose house is that circled in blue??

  19. From CP's instagram account. The hype is so, so, so real.
  20. Thank you so much! Amazing stuff in there. If you're telling I can get the best Indian food in North America, then I'm definitely going to have to do that. Like I said, time is gonna be really limited in these cities, and either just in an afternoon or night, so I'll only be able to pick one or two, but I've got a lot to work with here! I'm also going to have to check out those smaller parks and see if maybe we can work them in, since we do have a fair amount of potential extra time. We've been to Kennywood, and I'm not worried about it for this trip. Thank you. Also that coaster is called "Loop Roller Coaster." What a f*cking name! Just not coasters and bourbon at the same time! Also, if your name is Phil, then we share the same name. Maybe that has something to do with it haha
  21. Yeah, I should have specified in the original post. My car only seats 2, and my girl is gonna need her car when she gets back. We're splitting the rental appropriately. I agree it makes more sense to drive the whole way. Great tip, thanks! Sounds like it was from personal experience.
  22. Now updated with the trip report, part 1! ----- This will be my first trip as an enthusiast in over 10 years, and ‘tis the season of summer vacation planning. Would love to hear you guy’s thoughts! Day 1: Saturday, May 19: Travel Day. Flying into Cincinnati at 5PM ($49 ticket after tax on Southwest, score!), get rental car, meet up with friends. Head downtown, beer, get situated in an Airbnb near KI. Day 2: Sunday, May 20: KI all day. Thought about going to Kentucky Kingdom, as I haven’t been there since it was SFKK, and would LOVE to ride Storm Runner and Lightning Run. But it’s a little bit of a drive, and park admission isn’t cheap. Day 3: Monday, May 21: Option to do KI in the morning, then drive to Sandusky (3.5 hour drive). Get situated in an Airbnb in town. Option to preview CP that evening. Beer, hangout, lounge, whatever. Day 4: Tuesday, May 22: CP all day! Day 5: Wednesday, May 23: CP all day! Day 6: Thursday, May 24: Travel day. Two-hour drive to Detroit, do some sightseeing, drop GF off at the airport (6PM flight). Then drive 4 hours to Toronto. Beer. Whatever. Day 7: Friday, May 25: CW all day! Day 8: Saturday, May 26: Option to do CW in the morning. Drive 2.5 hours to Darien Lake, do DL for the rest of the day. Not holding my breath for Tantrum to be open by then. Day 9: Sunday, May 27: Drive 2 hours to Waldameer, check that out for a few hours. Then Conneaut for a few hours. Then make my way back to MD. Option to extend trip into Monday (Memorial Day) if we’re tired. What I’m looking for: What are some must dos in Toronto and Detroit for the very limited time I’ll be in both cities. We all like bourbon, beer, and anything cool. Any other tips and thoughts?
  23. This. Usually if they open, people will come. I think it'll probably be a big success. I wouldn't go personally though, because I think *everything* should be closed on major holidays like christmas and thanksgiving. Those days should be kept sacred. I just have too many scars from when I worked in retail and completely and totally resenting having to work on those days.
  24. SFMM and Vegas coasters in 2 and a half weeks! Woo! My major trip is going to be the 3rd week of May. KI -> CP -> CW -> DL -> Waldameer -> Conneaut -> Home. Already got some of my tickets. Other definites include Hershey, KD, SFA, Carowinds, SFGadv My maybe is SFoG
