  1. I don't know if that is entirely true. I think as wooden coasters got bigger and more intense, the physical limitations of wooden structures was also pushed to the max. At west coast bash, during the GhostRider tour, KBF VP of engineering/maintenance was honest in saying that they don't even fully know how well it will hold up even with keeping their current rehab schedule (3 times a year) in place.
  2. To answer the original question: I have no idea and don't care to do the math to find out! I've given up on credit whoring and barely remember to update my count now-a-days!
  3. I'm so excited for this! Everything looks amazing.
  4. I suspect there is a reason Six Flags chose to tear down all their other Arrow mega loopers.
  5. Happy they came up with a way to earn candy for pokemon that are nearly impossible to find. Someday I'll finally get a Muk thanks to this!
  6. Their offense is too vanilla for someone like him. He needs to be put in space, but the Rams haven't done anything even remotely creative with him.
  7. I'm definitely intrigued by Aftermath. The creative team behind is a great team!
  8. I cannot comprehend how Jeff Fisher still has a job.
  9. NFL security rant: Thanks to the Rams, the Coliseum is a nightmare to get into now. AND it's not easy to get booze in anymore (not sold inside during USC games because of a PAC-12 policy) thanks to the NFL security procedures. Only allowing clear bags is frustrating too. Oh, and the Rams are awful. So it's a double kick in the nuts.
  10. I saw during WCB that they had already demolished the buildings they bought to replace the parking spots lost by the Soak City expansion. Nice that it seems like the whole parking lot will get taken care of as part of the project.
  11. Just the the fact that Viper survived so long should be a testament to SFMM's maintenance department being able to do some good things. The ride is from Arrow's "coat hanger" design era with the smaller loops and weird transitions, so I imagine it has been tearing itself apart for years. I won't be sad to see it go if the replacement is a Dive Machine!
  12. The KBF day was amazing! The Q&A was tons of fun, the behind the scenes tours were great, and of course hanging with all the cool TPR people was great as well! Kudos to KBF, Robb, and Elissa for hosting!
  13. Some post West Coast Bash thoughts... 1. It's very obvious KBF cares about hosting the event every year. The Q&A is always tons of fun and you can tell their marketing team puts effort into making the day special. Kudos to everyone! 2. Got my first rides on Ghostrider 2.0. It's as close to old Ghostrider as we're going to get...basically feels out of control again minus the ejector air, which was all replaced by pops of floater air. So Ghostrider moved from the bottom of my list to soundly at the top of the middle tier (I'm a fan of ejector air over anything else if I had to pick). 3. Iron Reef still has it's flaws (mainly the WTF story and low capacity), but it works well for the park. I enjoyed it more this time around.
  14. Not very. There is a test seat outside the castle.
  15. The night time studio tour is not available right now.
  16. Take these awards for what they are: marketing tools for the parks. The voting poll is still very much skewered towards "old school" coaster enthusiasts. Plus I doubt it's an accident parks that spend money on advertising for amusement today keep winning...
  17. I would say both parties have some blame. Captain and harbormaster both should have known better.
  18. It's still gold rusher...no big deal....
  19. You won't get it right away, but they will typically still open 15-20 minutes early for all ticket holders each morning. Three Broomsticks is the best food place IMO---big portions and great food. You could probably eat an entire "great feast" (a meal meant for 4 people---ribs, chicken, corn on the cob, veggies, salad) by yourself. I don't remember if Orlando has prime rib like Hollywood, but that was pretty good for being theme park quick serve! The cheese soup was delicious as well. The "sticky toffee pudding" is my favorite not dan friendly item.
  20. Purchase your tickets online and you will have early entry into WWoHP one hour prior to posted park opening. That will easily get you through both lands and Ollivander's if you care to do so (Do Ollivander's first---always have longest waits). After that, you can exit right out of the land to the Studio Tour and get that done. From there, just look at the wait time signs and go with the flow!
  21. Looks like it will really clean it up and give it a continuous "old timey" look!
  22. Here's a photo of the groundbreaking ceremony. Glad to see Sea World getting something new. From left: San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jerry Sanders, SeaWorld® San Diego Park President Marilyn Hannes, San Diego City Councilmember Lorie Zapf and San Diego Tourism Authority President and CEO Joe Terzi took part in a special groundbreaking ceremony for an exciting new attraction, Ocean Explorer, which is scheduled to debut at SeaWorld® in late spring 2017. 23. ^Or you can look at it as they are looking for ways to maximize the value of Skeleton Key to sell more, which in turns means more budget for the event. Voodoo and Paranormal Inc are probably the two nicest mazes ever done, so if that's what it takes for them to up their production value, I'm all for it!
  24. I'm guessing sensors won't do anything, nor are they the problem. There are limitations to variable speed motors/drives (especially ones designed for lift hills). You can only be so precise when asking a motor to power a chain to carry a fully loaded roller coaster train over a hill.
