  1. Yup. It had two giant surfboards on the sides.
  2. The park has not had good luck with surf themed rides...third times the charm?
  3. That is literally their marketing pitch. Heard on Kevin and bean this morning. Great for us. Probably not so good for their business. I have a feeling someday we’ll learn what the real reason for daily operations was: tax credit? Accounting trick (make it look like a massive loss to hide profit)? A requirement of a deal they made somewhere? I just can’t fathom how they will turn any sort of profit on this, but kudos to them for giving it a go. Making it easier for me to ride the good rides and leave even quicker is a win in my book.
  4. Pretty incredible accomplishment! Seems like just yesterday I bought your VHS tapes...
  5. They're still a business at the end of the day. No way they're making money when rain scares people away. Easier to deal with return visits/refunds than operate the park at a loss.
  6. Oh, but Robb, those are not fused together! They are just regular Fire FX.
  7. So there's that. In regards to the management's lack of attention to the guest parking lot, that lot and the location of the management offices on SFMM property could not be further away from each other. Absent any sort of personal initiative, they'd have to have a darn good reason for going all the way out to the parking lot. Trash cans most likely would not qualify, though it'd be really nice if Neal, or someone else in park management, would react with personal initiative to the photo posted a couple of pages ago and at least fix that. I would have to lie about downtime at Superman to get my supervisors to come up the hill...doesn't sound like anything has changed in 15 years
  8. The music city miracle was 18 years ago? Time flies... Even though the Bills let their best USC player walk (Robert Woods), they still have Shareece Wright, so I can root for them.
  9. While I think it has tons of flaws, I do think guests enjoy the ride and it works for the park.
  10. I guess the park expects people to miss that because they'll be blown away by the fresh paint in the DC Plaza area... But seriously, how does any member of management from supervisor all the way up to GM walk by that and not immediately take action??
  11. Point still stands: It's a poorly designed area as it stands now. Astro Orbiter and the rocks are more unnecessary clutter. The park is already packed as it is, so once Star Wars opens I do not envy any of the CM's who will be doing crowd control unless they make a major effort to free up space in the park.
  12. I'll admit that this is a busy week, but here are the posted wait times from Queue Times for the last few days. 12/26: 70 Minutes 12/27: 70 Minutes 12/28: 100 Minutes 12/29: 100 Minutes 12:30: 100 Minutes 12/31: 70 Minutes 1/1: 55 Minutes ... seems like it's a very popular ride with everyone besides whiny coaster enthusiasts. How many trains are they running?
  13. I think Buzz Lightyear fits in fine too. I would agree that the rest of tomorrowland besides space mountain can go though. I'll settle for just removing the peoplemover track in the short term to free up walkway space...
  14. Tomorrowland needs a massive overhaul as it is... I could see them completely gutting/demolishing Star Tours for a massive re-model of the area that also includes getting rid of the Peoplemover track and old station.
  15. You are missing my point. I don’t care about the water jets personally. It’s the idea that they spruced up an area with a water feature that just so happens to cost money to maintain...and I haven’t seen it work in years. It’s symbolic for what SFMM still is at its core. Or trash cans in the parking lot that look like they’ve never seen a power wash in their life. Or putting up chain link fence and rocks on the ground to use rrv queue as the queue for their brand new ride. But, as I’ve said...I accept it for what it is. I can go for super cheap, ride a few rides, and leave. Or hurricane harbor. For $7/month. All the things I see make me laugh, but for so little per month, it is what it is.
  16. It's been a while, but to their credit, I wouldn't really want them on in the winter months anyway. If it were like USH, where they turn off the water effects in the winter season, I'd be fine with that. They have been off the entire 3 years I have had a membership. No matter the season. You are so negative. They were on this past summer, and they always turn them off when it’s not summer. If you want water, go on Jet Stream which is still open. I guess you and I visited at different times during the summer. Visited numerous times this past summer and never saw them on. But in case you missed my original point: making a section of the park look nicer for one season means absolutely nothing if the money and effort to maintain it isn’t there. If you would like another example that always stands out to me...I’m pretty sure the same gross trash cans have been in the parking lot for my whole life.... I accept SFMM for what it is. A park with a super cheap pass and a few good rides I’ll stop by to attempt to ride. The more you look at the details, the less enjoyable it is.
  17. Canyon blaster is only slightly less rough than a typical arrow looper. It’s fun for what it is, but it’s still an arrow looper with newer trains.
  18. It's been a while, but to their credit, I wouldn't really want them on in the winter months anyway. If it were like USH, where they turn off the water effects in the winter season, I'd be fine with that. They have been off the entire 3 years I have had a membership. No matter the season.
  19. I would guess it's going to have a winch or the machinery for the elevator (which will probably be something simple like a construction elevator) attached to it.
  20. Can that happen with $85 season passes? It can, so long as those people who have $85 passes are spending money each time they visit the park. That's where the problem lies---if you are ONLY known for roller coasters, people don't care to spend money. You do need all the other things to make the complete package, which is where SFMM is lacking. I pay the $8/month for my membership, yet only go every few months just to ride a few rides and leave. Talking about new areas in need of maintenance---when is the last time the water jets worked in YOLOPlaza? I'm sure if I bothered to go to the park more than once every few months I could find plenty more.
  21. They are a lot of fun for being in a compact area. A good fit for SeaWorld.
  22. If they don't intend to maintain all the newer areas, it defeats the purpose...
