West Coast Bash 2008 - The Official Thread!

Taken from the first post in this topic. Please be sure to read everything before asking questions. -
Bumping this thread with signing day upon us. So far they are saying ND might have the #1 class. Can't figure out why...but hey, they might double their win total with all that talent!

^^I think you are missing Robb's point: As other rides have proven, "open space" is not a requirement. Rides have already been built over, under, and around existing structures at other parks, so why couldn't it happen here too?

College Football > NFL I know you don't want to think about college football Matt, but look on the bright side: 6 wins would be a 100% improvement for Notre Dame. -

How do you save money at a park?
Jew replied to palmerleeberry's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know the topic is about saving money, which buying a Q-bot won't directly do, but I thought I should post this... If you know you are going on a busy day, I actually think whatever front of the line program a park offers is actually a GREAT value. Especially if you are on vacation and have already spent money on gas/hotel/plane tickets/admission/parking/etc. -
TPR's *BIG* Six Flags Magic Mountain Update!
Jew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I disagree with that. SFMM is not a destination park. It never has been, and it never will be. It would be a huge mistake to try and compete for tourist dollars with Disney and USH. Most of those attractions have already been done by Disney and/or Universal, and I highly doubt SFMM has the resources to do one better. I think they just need to continue with the plan they have now: make it a great place for locals. Keep upgrading the family ride offerings, build a new coaster every couple years, and keep pushing forward with improving the operations and infrastructure in the park. -

While I have had great success with sporting event tickets on craigslist, keep in mind that craigslist will also have a greater risk of fraud that parks are not responsible for. So if you buy a fake or expired ticket, the park isn't going to do anything for you except maybe offering you a discount on purchasing a legitimate ticket. I would recommend ebay, simply because you will still find a good deal and have some form of protection as well. -

^Bathroom water?!?! You can use water fountains. Plus, 99% of parks will give you a cup of water if you ask for it. Most parks will also allow sealed bottles of water in. -
TPR's *BIG* Six Flags Magic Mountain Update!
Jew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm no expert by any means, but I would guess removing S:TE would cost as much as a small coaster. Not to mention the logistics would be a huge pain in the ass because of it stretching across half the park and over rides. -
Six Flags Magic Mountain's New X2 Trains Photos & Video!

I interpreted it as a combination of SF's corporate engineers/SFMM people/S&S Arrow. I think he might of mentioned that it was another company that made the lightworks model. -
^Just to add to that, you can also look at your account history in paypal and it will show you all of your transactions.

^^You'd probably reconsider if you saw the check I am sure Eli is getting from Disney. -

^It's the day after the Superbowl. Of course he hasn't been everywhere "on his list." -
Oh no, Hans Blix!

^Jet Streams flume is supposed to have less water. Because the boats were designed to hydroplane, when simply floating on the water, the boats are prone to tipping/rocking. This is evident when stupid kids rock their boat on the way to the first lift. However, I believe there are only two operational pumps that have gone way too long without a rehab, I wouldn't doubt the water levels are lower.

^^I think I am going to sue you for emotional distress after that bad joke.

Water Coasters - They Good?
Jew replied to ash.1111's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm surprised these haven't caught on with more parks. Finally something new and exciting besides the standard raft ride/flume ride/chute-the-chute that every park has some combination of...you would think parks would jump at the chance to market something unique. -
^Sorry Matt. I had to blame someone.

720p is a 1280x720 progressive scan image (which is why it is used in sports) 1080i is a 1920x1080i interlaced image. 1080p is 1920x1080 progressive scan image...that none of the networks use and most likely won't be using for awhile (since they all just spent millions upgrading to either 1080i or 720p) They're all "widescreen" formats. Just different resolutions.

Nürburgring launched coaster
Jew replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Because the similarities are obvious...Unless you can name another two launched S&S coasters that go that fast.
