^That is obviously the product of google having a huge head start on collecting data. I suspect Apple is already looking for a partner to license better map data from.

I don't think Apple allows developers to release a product that overlaps existing iOS features.

ESPN already shows enough love to the SEC (thanks to the fat TV contract).

Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Discussion Thread
Jew replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I Agree. Would have preferred less detail in the queue/building, and a more complete version of the ride. But at the end of the day, the detail is incredible and I'm just happy Magic Kingdom is getting something new! -

The Tango is one of my favorite flats. One of the most disorienting rides around IMO. -
Ferrari World Discussion Thread

I'm definitely curious to see how a stage show fits in at a Ferrari theme park! Hopefully I'll get to visit this park one day... -
Jason - Unfortunately, after riding many of us have concerns about how time will treat this coaster, we'll see shortly hoe Fireball held up. Fireball was great on the last China trip...really hope that still holds true!

^Who would have ever thought that?! Meanwhile, my Dodgers are treading water probably not going to the post season.

Love the use of old coaster cars! -
^^Is it really greed? If you're in a profession that is as physically demanding and dangerous as being an NHL player, you'd be foolish to not maximize your income while you are still healthy and in your prime. They're only one big hit, puck to the face, slash to the knee, etc. away from having no earning potential as an NHL player. Then there is also the fact that if you are an elite NHL player, there are literally only a handful of people in the world that can match your skill level to replace you. On the flip side, the owners still rich no matter what happens. Even if their team is losing money, these are guys who made their fortunes elsewhere in other business ventures.

^I don't think that is totally true. They are slighty more valuable than you or I as employees to our companies. I'd say a star player making $10 million/year easily returns that investment to their owner in ticket and merchandise sales.

Eric's Dollywood Thread!
Jew replied to ernierocker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Glad that the roller coaster museum is finally putting something on display! Very cool of Dollywood to host this! -
Sadly, that is not his job. The owners are his boss. The NHL "owners association" (board of governors) employ him. When he is doing anything "in the best interests of the game," he's doing it to protect the owners. He doesn't give a damn about the players or them, to them they are just the owners expensive investments he has to protect.

Thus far, it is hard to argue with the results given the circumstances of the sanctions. He's far from perfect, but succeeding at what he was hired for: to get USC through the sanctions. The 10-2 season last season far exceeded anyone's expectations. The verdict is still out on this season, as it was very obvious he was out coached vs. Stanford. But last season ASU spanked him too, then he had the team rolling from then on out...
-
Just to expand upon what I was saying about USC's still slim national title hopes: All the teams currently in the top 15 have one or more games against other top 15 opponents left. (really that is just my justification for watching USC play its worst game since that ASU game last season to choke away their status as the front runner to the non-SEC invite to the title game, but it works! ) Next week we have Clemson vs. FSU & Oklahoma vs. K-state to shuffle the rankings up again within the top 15.

^^The fake SLC's look like SLC's too! I don't think we can judge just by how the track looks.
-
Didn't even think of that, but it definitely makes sense. Stanford and Oregon still have to play, as does USC and Oregon. Then there is the championship game too. My USC fan dream is that Stanford and USC win out, so USC can have its chance for redemption.

Don't see this one ending anytime soon...Fehr wants revenue sharing, owners want salary cuts. Sounds like 2004-2005 all over again.

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread
Jew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I honestly think Ed Hart wants in because he knows it will fail and just wants to take the states money and run. It's in the best interests of both parties to meet in the middle, but that makes too much sense... -
He's probably better off in China...

^Sadly, even if USC rolls the rest of the season...that's probably true. The loser of the LSU-Alabama game will be viewed as being better than the team that lost early on the road to a top-25 team. But that's assuming there is not another undefeated team. P.S.: You as a Gator should appreciate an early season loss. I seem to recall Tim Tebow rallying his team in the post game speech and then going on to win the national title. But the way they looked tonight...there's a lot to improve on. Of course, last year they looked like shit against ASU before blowing up. But last year they didn't have a giant hole at center going from a senior all-american to a RS Freshman playing his first game... Stanford completely outplayed USC, and USC completely outplayed itself...trying a run and a couple plays under center on the final drive, despite having some success with the previous two plays from shotgun working... The silver lining is that the loss is early in the season and now that the PAC-12 has a championship game...all hope is not yet lost. Time to obliterate Cal and never look back!
