  1. I mean hey, i'm just going by what the articles are saying and that seems to be some of the common reasons across the board. I can only personally speak for myself and say that out of the 3 times I went last year I may have spent a collective of 100.00 gambling. Compare that to the 117.00 I spent on one meal. At 37 i'm not too sure if I would be considered a millennial but I def don't go to Vegas for slots. Millennial's have been blamed for everything that is actually just poor business decisions...we're killing everything. Casinos thought millennial's wanted skill based machines instead of typical slot machines too. I never see anyone actually playing those machines. They are choosing to ignore the actual problems by covering them up with cost cutting moves and layoffs that change Vegas from a special place to just any other resort destination.
  2. ^Online gambling has been around for a long time. Millennial's not being into gambling is just a lame excuse that's not true IMO. I'm a millennial gambler, and if you are ever in Vegas on a weekend you will see tables full of millennial's. Millennial's, however have a limit on what they will gamble, so you see the $25 minimum tables empty while the $5 and $10 are packed (I stick to $5/10 ultimate Texas holdem, which is still expensive and probably not smart of me...) Fees definitely play a role. Parking and resorts. Sports betting being legalized nationwide takes something away from Vegas being THE spot for big sporting events. When China cracked down on corrupt gambling junkets, it definitely hurt the high end. Clubs and shows are down because it's a heavily saturated market without much change. Same resident DJ's, same shows for 10+ years. You pay $5k+ once to see Tiesto with bottle service, you're never going back to do it again.
  3. In Vegas attraction news: the walking dead experience downtown has closed.
  4. It has been reported the pump failed on the ride, so the water level was low. Which means no brakes for the log. The photo of the log on its side leads me to believe it just went full speed into the wall and threw the passengers out. Hope they end up being ok.
  5. It's not like the theme of the park has anything to do with Jimmy Buffet anyways.
  6. I have hope for this. From above, you can see that only the old beginning scene and stegosaurus lagoon are now enclosed. The rest of the outdoor section remains outdoors.
  7. The area is coming along nicely! Rocks! And signs! And booze!
  8. Not surprising to me. It was Year 1, plus the park did not open a noteworthy attraction last year. We know the SF crowd feeds off of large coasters. The late ride openings + no new record breakers, and I can't see how people are surprised. The 2.6% was probably entirely from the added operational days. Can't imagine it's anymore than 1,000-5,000 people on a weekday kids are in school...
  9. You're overthinking it. Not sure what system they use for 3D, but all they have to do is turn off one projector and crank up brightness or take out the filter that is creating the 3D effect.
  10. I'm not a fan at all of the whole Pixar Pier area. Anything Pixar and the Pier theme just don't go together. This to me is just a nice look flat ride that is out of place. The whole Pixar area belongs inside like Snoopy area at USJ or Dreamworks at Motiongate.
  11. It's the Flicks Flyer ride from Bugs Land re-skinned.
  12. Fun fact: Bigfoot is actually hidden on the mural along the wall of Warehouse P that you see behind the ride.
  13. If you purchased your ticket online, you are eligible for 30 min early entry to knock out the Potter rides. The lower lot and Despicable Me do not open until 1hr after the park opens. Jurassic World is not open yet.
  14. That, and/or they can have a sign at the entrance that says "the line for this ride will close at...." Which, for the sake of the cast members, I hope they do.
  15. This was my plan, but I saw on another credible site that they will not allow people to do this. Although how that will be enforced, and if so, when the cut of time would be, was not clear. The same site said they do intended to offer single rider line, even for the previews, so that may be helpful if it pans out. Simple: Cut off the line at whatever time they feel their hourly capacity can handle. If they know there's 5000 (or whatever the number is per reservation timeslot) people in the land, and their ride can only do 1500pph, you stop entry into the ride roughly an hour before the timeslot is over to ensure they cycle out on time. Downtime will be the real wildcard. Do you allow those people to stay? Or do you just give them a bunch of readmits for rest of park and kick them out anyways?
  16. To answer your Magic Mountain question: Los Angeles is much more crowded market than those other places. Entertainment dollars can go to sporting events, other theme parks, concerts, etc.. The average person in Los Angeles probably goes to Six Flags every 3-5 years if they don't have a pass, or not at all if they don't like coasters.
  17. Is Cedar Fair reporting Knotts resort or just Knotts Berry Farm?
  18. I would hope they also force those people to leave the land, not just deny them service. Otherwise people will just hang out to soak in the atmosphere and it'll be too full to admit new guests...
  19. Depends on what the source of the TEA report goes by. Haunt is roughly 1 million on its own, so if they don't count that plus other things like private events, I can see where TEA's estimate came from. Also, are we sure it's Knott's and not Knott's+Soak City?
  20. My friends have a hotel reservation...the same policy applied. Names had to be given in advance. I suppose they could try some excuse like "oh, my wife couldn't make it anymore so I brought my sister in law" or some excuse to see if the hotel will change it, but I would assume they are also being strict with that.
  21. I think there's no negativity because most people had already resigned themselves to 'more screens' the second an upgrade to the ride was announced. There is still a large portion of the ride that remains outdoors. I'll reserve final judgment until the ride is open.
  22. If you have a Capital One Venture card, Hotels.com gets you 10x points. Signed up for the 50,000 point bonus to make my flight to Japan either free or real cheap if I splurge on Economy+ The 10x points from hotels.com is basically 10% back with how capital one values points for travel purchases.
  23. Negative. It's taking up backstage space.
  24. T2:3D was literally the sequel to the 2nd Terminator movie, since it was directed by James Cameron and intended to serve as the the bridge to the 3rd film he never got to make until now. BTTF was Universal's best attempt since only Spielberg was involved.
