Aren't there other companies that make parts for Arrow coasters? If so then as long as it does not demolish itself the park could keep it going for a long time. Parts can also be machined if SFMM has the drawings (which Arrow should have given to the park). But I too am under the impression Arrow still makes parts... -Joey

More bad press for Six Flags.....or not?
Jew replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yep. Bad press is better than a lawsuit. They did the right thing. Thankfully the courts allowed common sense to prevail: http://www.legalrollercoaster.com/2014/01/gamechanger-california-court-holds.html -
Nope. Ride opened with no trim brakes at all. Was wild crazy and (smooth). No head banging at all. Alas though. With all arrows It doesn't stay that way. I say this with love because for over 20 years viper was my favorite ride. I still remember the first time I turned the corner after climbing the hill toward the parking lot and literally stopping in the lane when I saw it. Wasn't open yet. (2 weeks out). I went every weekend waiting for it to open. The ride was tearing itself apart, so the trims had to be added.

Why do people like interactive dark rides?
Jew replied to Dr. M's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Because seeing static scenes gets boring (even if the set pieces are great). -
Since it's a Ducks game, I agree with that sentiment!

It's a Purim miracle! This thread is back! I took in a *gag* Ducks game earlier in the season, since the price was right for a glass ticket ($125). The Pond feels like an arena stuck in the twilight zone. It's nice, but but in the era before arenas were super sized and got all the latest amenities. However, that makes it a good hockey arena---it's big, but doesn't FEEL big. Though the concourses and arena layout are a little weird as a result. I might dislike the ducks, but hockey is still hockey and a glass seat is still a glass seat! Obligatory concourse photo. I dig the marble. I don't dig the not very wide concourse when full! Welcome to the Pond, which is 10000x cooler than it's actual current sponsored name of Honda Center This season they built a new premium club (separate ticket from the normal club seats) in their failed attempt to lure the Sacramento Kings... …so of course I had to buy a ticket to this club too! It has a nice outdoor terrace with seating, fireplaces, and... …then you can go inside for some gourmet food... …like this delicious pork dish I had... …Or Sushi if it is your thing... ...Two bars with some decent beers on tap …Or even more great beer! Obligatory arena overview photo! Here's the full, not what you normally see at a Hockey game menu... Here's the club level concourse. I like the marble regular concourses better! This feels so bland. Can't go wrong with a display of classic hockey gear! Here is the other club restaurant, open to all club seat holders. It's really less a restaurant/bar, and more of a "crap, lets keep up with newer arenas who build in restaurants by throwing a bunch of tables around a bar with a food menu/buffet in the concourse, clean it up a little, and call it a new club!" The space was definitely not designed for this, but kudos to them for finding a way to monetize what used to be a concourse.

Visionland, as originally built, had lofty attendance goals and no practical way to meet them. It was probably a money grab for politicians in the area, a thought backed up by the head of the project now being in prison. Following management groups are, by and large, no longer in the industry, showing their skill. There's a million people in the immediate metro area and a lot of underserved communities within reasonable distance. For the Koch's, there's usable infrastructure there and exponentially more people within a 50 mile radius. They have a pretty good formula to make it work. When you put it like that, you would think that a reputable park operator would have snatched it up long before the Koch's came in. So I'm still not totally sold. Especially when you consider the fact they essentially had to settle for this park after Kentucky Kingdom didn't work out...

SeaWorld San Diego (SWSD) Discussion Thread

California is definitely the one state that has no problem burning bridges with multi-million dollar businesses over taxes/regulations... -
Kevin's Adventures of 2014 (with TPRs Scandi Trip)
Jew replied to XII's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually think Scandia Screamer is terrible. There's some good pops of airtime, but it's brutal the rest of the way. Definite spine adjustor. Although I agree that Scandia is still a fun little park---I wish we had more overgrown family fun center parks like Castle Park and Scandia in So Cal! -
How did you get into roller coasters/amusement parks?
Jew replied to VF15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I started playing RCT and it was all downhill from there... -
^I guess this is the year of series revivals. 24, and now this. Wonder what is next?

WhiteWater Acquires WaveLoch and Flowrider

I wonder what changed since this press release? http://www.waveloch.com/news/wave-loch-turns-their-attention-surf-pools-after-selling-their-world-leading-flowrider-sheet -
I was there last Thursday and it was running one train then also. I'll most likely be there this Thursday. But for some reason riptide has not be open the last 3 times I've been there. Riptide has been down for a while now, they were doing some refurbishment work on it and as far as I know they are awaiting approval from the state to reopen soon. I don't work again until Friday, but hopefully Ghost will be back to two trains this week. If the state has to approve their work, they are doing more than just a rehab. Something had to have been modified or someone was seriously injured if the state is involved.
