  1. By far the highlight of my sports fandom so far!
  2. The beautiful thing about opinions is that everyone is entitled to one. Lets not turn this thread into a B&M debate. In my opinion, being compared to B&M is a great thing for RMC. They were the undisputed kings of the coaster world for a long time before other manufacturers were able to catch up (hence the reason many feel their later coasters are weaker---other manufacturers pushed the limits while they didn't). They can also still be counted on to provide a guaranteed crowd pleaser that is easy to maintain. I'd love for nothing more than RMC to be the next B&M---I don't care if there isn't anything unique if the rides they keep churning out kick ass!
  3. Interactive doesn't have to mean a dark ride. A climbing structure is interactive. A splash battle is also interactive.
  4. Still 6 giraffes away for me!
  5. I believe what's left of the building is used for storage, so spotting workers "cleaning"wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary...
  6. ^Perhaps it's the highest earnings because they're also the best at cutting costs?
  7. Correct. They have carpenters who are continually doing upkeep on the ride.
  8. wait times are available anywhere at ushwaittimes.com on your phone. I agree with getting to the park early---the summer season is slowly beginning, so it will be getting a bit more crowded. But if you get there at park opening, you can beat much of the crowds! I disagree on the food options though---you're not going to find anything earth shattering, but there are many quality options. The nachos, grilled cheese, and salad at Gru's cafe are great theme park food items. Flinstones BBQ is big portions and decent BBQ for theme park standards. The Palace Cafe has lots of decent grab and go sandwiches/wraps/etc. as well.
  9. There's no doubt SFMM is one of the most polarizing parks in the world. You either love it for what it is or hate it for what it is.
  10. ^^It's irrelevant because it doesn't excuse anything. Especially given the fact they struggle to maintain their 19 coasters, so there isn't even enough budget to keep those running at maximum capacity.
  11. ^Because it's irrelevant. It's a given the material and labor costs of operating 19 coasters will be more than the other parks...but that doesn't excuse anything.
  12. ^I don't think anyone is questioning whether or not the business model SFMM uses is profitable for them. It's always reported SFMM does well for the chain. However, we are theme park nerds. Many of us have worked (or still do work) in the industry. We have a lot more to compare SFMM to, so discussions like these will be never ending.
  13. Here's the thing that's great about message boards: opinions are entirely subjective. If you were to read through the entire thread, you will see that I gave credit where credit is due during the beginning of the Jay Thomas era when things were getting better, and I also praised YOLOCoaster as really fun (best ride in the park IMO). If SFMM proves me wrong, I will be the first one to say so. But until we actually know anything about the ride, I have nothing to base my opinion besides SFMM's history of adding average/above average rides (YOLOCoaster is fun, but nowhere near my top 10) and poor operations/maintenance issues.
  14. ^Same. 3/5 bathtubs, 9/25 innertubes (got caught up on the Chris tasks as well), 36/40 canteens, and only 1,326 idols. Not happening on time for me! The rumor is that the pyramid might finally lead to Stewie via his time machine!
  15. Again, I would like to point out this ride will be at SFMM, which means the following: poor operations and maintenance. Plus, it will probably just be a slightly above average ride (like everything else at SFMM) that everyone will rank as their #1 coaster because it will still likely end up being the best coaster in so cal by default.
  16. They're not going to acknowledge Blackfish, even if it was partially to blame.
  17. E-mail support? I would assume they have your town saved somewhere.
  18. New prediction: world largest climbing structure/rope course!
  19. Granted it could have been because of whatever injury he had, but he was slumping in May before being placed on the DL. He does, however, have a nice swing that really accelerates through contact to generate power. But 60 games still doesn't tell me enough either way to know if it's teams scouting reports/pitchers not being prepared or his pure talent. Or a mix a both. He still strikes out too much and doesn't walk enough, but sure has been crushing the ball when he can make contact. Anyone who thinks of Miguel Cabrera when talking about Jose Abreu at this point is nuts. Perhaps if he keeps improving and hits for this power while batting .300, but until then...not even close.
  20. Down to needing two more whips for Adventurer Peter.
  21. Everyone realizes that this will still be at SFMM, right? Even if it turns out to be the most amazing ride, it's pretty much a given that operations will be terribly inconsistent and the ride will probably experience a major closure of some sort while they wait for a part to arrive...
  22. I'm tempted to get the small shrine. Don't want to blow all my clams just to have another event need them.
  23. I hope it gets replaced with 5 kiddie coasters. No way Cedar Point can catch up after that!
  24. ^That's probably why the event is longer than just the weekend.
  25. Production costs are cheaper when you've built so many more. Tooling, machining, engineering, etc.
