Announcing "Skyline Attractions"
Jew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is a neat idea. I imagine the price would include the game and the rider when a guest pays for it. If guests can't seem to get enough of simple basketball games, I can see them loving this. "Hey man, lets do this! I swear I'll get you to the top first!" -
Knott's and Universal sell out on a regular basis for Halloween. This is NOT the Wonderland thread, so please try not to mix up the discussion of the two. Lines were longer this year at Knott's, but I don't think safety was every compromised. And at Knott's, it's obvious why the lines were longer: less mazes and an entire former scare zone swallowed up by a limited capacity attraction. And two less shows. And the Haunt pass.

^bitter hatred aside from being a Dodgers fan, I'm hesitant to call it a Dynasty only because the Giants were not even close to contenders during their off years. When I think of a Dynasty, I think of a team that is a threat to win it every year. Had the Giants lost in the World Series on the years they didn't win it, I would definitely call it a Dynasty. For now it's just a team that plays great when they get the opportunity to shine.

Stand-Up coasters= A failed concept?
Jew replied to fraroc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
People have short attention spans. Roller coaster technology has advanced beyond the point where a stand-up coaster is marketable gimmick. It definitely wasn't a failed concept, since 3 different manufacturers managed to sell so many. -
I know almost nothing about Darien Lake, but to me changing the operator of the park from a respected company to a smaller company (led by executives who ran Six Flags into the ground) sounds like nothing more than a cost cutting move. I suspect CNL and Herschend couldn't agree on a viable long term plan for the park, so CNL took a lower bidder in Premier Parks.

It's some guys weird fetish IMO. He's totally playing off the fact everyone wants to be the tough guy who survives since there is all this hype around it. -
^It is still getting ridiculous ratings on TV. I think the issue this year (at least in Hollywood) is that not enough changed in the maze or on the Terror Tram. I don't think people would mind if they got an all new experience each year. The problem of course is that the new seasons always start in October, so Universal can't use the latest material. Personally, I'm on the fence about using IP's. Original mazes are cool, but so is seeing horror movies/TV shows come to life. A good balance of the two is ideal IMO.

Bingo! Can't completely give the low-end market to Android. Need to have a low priced option into their eco-system.

What park should have an Intamin Mega-Lite?
Jew replied to Montuman99's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I would disagree about Sea World needing a BIG thrill. It's not their demographic. San Antonio and Orlando face stiffer competition, so it makes more sense for them to have bigger rides when competing with WDW, UO, and SFFT. -
Russia to build Vekoma GIB in Sochi

I wonder how this park is doing now that the Olympics are over? I've seen reports that Sochi is a ghost town now. -
Knott's Scary Farm 2014 Opening Night Report!

They had 3 or 4 employees handing out tickets at the Camp Snoopy entrance when I went. Once they are all out, you have to wait in the standby line on the Fiesta Village side and hope there are no-shows. The only thing I don't like about this system is their unwritten rule about having the whole party present. It totally makes sense, except for the fact they don't inform you of this until you get there. I missed out on Infected because of that thinking it would be a similar setup to fastpass or a restaurant reservation where one person can take care of a whole group...
