Hey Robb, Good job so far. We're going over weight maintenance in my animal physiology class and the whole process is a lot more complicated than one might think... Just hang in there and you will be able to lose more weight!

Hey Robb, I'm happy to see your weight loss program is going well! And if you ever get tired of the power bars, try Cliff bars. My mom sends them to me all the time in care packages because I never eat breakfast, and they are actually pretty delicious.

Nice pictures so far. My family and I will actually be staying in that resort over Christmas. Do you mostly like it? How is transportation to the parks? -
Infact, I did read all of your posts. All points brought up in my post were to show you why I think that some people believe that there is the mentality that evolution is fact. I'd appreciate it if you read my posts closely before responding. Thanks.

^ Wrong. Science is based on hypotheses, theories, and estimations, which is all explained in the classroom when students are taught the scientific method. With this foundation of knowledge that is (and if not, should) be taught at the beginning of nearly all K-12 science classes, students have been given the information necessary to understand how theories, such as the theory of evolution, have been developed. Also, in a science classroom, it makes sense why evolution is perceived to be taught as fact. Evolution is the only theory about the development of organisms that has firm scientific evidence and strong support from the scientific community. Since it is not competing against other scientific theories, evolution has reached an almost fact like status in the scientific community. Yes, there is creationism, but religion is not science. Science is the study of things which are tangible and therefore science cannot prove or disprove the existence and actions of god since god is intangible. Therefore, creationism has absolutely no place in a classroom, hence furthering the evolution as fact mentality.

As a student of molecular biology, I firmly believe in the theory of evolution. As acknowledged by most people in this thread, it is pretty ludicrous to disregard the blatant existence of evolution and natural/aritifical selection in our world. However, what bothers me the most, as both a scientist in training and an atheist, is that if a question is not easily answered people swiftly turn to God and religion for the answer. Scientists have performed several experiments that provide insight on the circumstances ideal for the formation and development of life (a member previously mentioned the Miller-Urey experiment). While the questions that many people are asking about the beginning of life have answers that cannot be procured by science in this moment, I have no doubt that further findings will be made in the future. Until then, I stand by my faith in science and my belief that because a question cannot be answered does not mean it has spiritual and religious roots.

When flying to and from college, Southwest is the cheapest so I always fly them. I find their planes to be comfortable and clean, as well as having pleasant staff. However, for long hauls, Southwest usually isn't the cheapest! They aren't always the economy airline.

Nice house! I'm pretty jealous of your college accomodations. Good luck this time around!

I think some very smart things have been said so far. Even though I am atheist, I'm happy to hear about your excitement towards Christianity. The only advice I have is to not think that your friends and family are going to be condemned to hell. It's no way to think about the people you care about most. Just because Christianity is good for you does not mean that it is good for your friends or family. All religions and beliefs are equal, and just have faith that your friends and family know what is best for them.

^ If you really drank that many redbull, I wouldn't be surprised if it was responsible for your headache. There is an overwhelming amount of caffeine in redbull and what most Americans don't seem to realize is that caffeine is a powerful drug with many side effects. You overloaded your body with caffeine and suffered from physical withdrawal when you stopped drinking it.

Saddam to Hang for war crimes
QuakerOaties replied to Masked_Maverick's topic in Random, Random, Random
I hate to sound like a typical Quaker pacifist, but is killing Saddam really what anyone needs? Is it necessary to kill more people in this world? Yes, Saddam was corrupt and did terrible things. But what was solved by killing him? Killing Saddam won't make people feel better about the events of the past or about the situation in the Middle East. If anything, his execution will just exacerbate problems. Mark "He should have just been a prisoner for life... What a better punishment" Luskus -
The Official Nintendo Wii Discussion Thread
QuakerOaties replied to MiamiBoii4392's topic in Random, Random, Random
I have Super Monkey Ball and am already kind of sick of it... If anyone has a wii game that they want to get off their hands, we could trade! Otherwise, my Wii is fun. Zelda is good (but annoying in the sense that I don't really enjoy puzzles...) and Wii sports is just awesome! My dad was even playing with me. I'm thinking of buying Rayman and Elebits. How is Elebits? Whats single player for Rayman like? -
