Six Flags Price Increases
QuakerOaties replied to GAcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A one day ticket at Walt Disney World is $63. Also, regional parks will never be at the same level as Disney so they can't charge Disney prices. Mark "Then again, I know absolutely nothing about business..." Luskus -

^ I wouldn't be surprised if it went up to $60. After all, two parks for the price of one. Mark "Hopefully higher ticket prices will bring higher standards for operation!" Luskus -
Favorite Disney Park
QuakerOaties replied to America Sings Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Its a tough call between Tokyo Disneyland and Disneysea. I'd probably say Disneysea just because of how blown away by everything I was. Mark "I miss it!" Luskus -
Six Flags Price Increases
QuakerOaties replied to GAcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still think the season pass prices are VERY reasonable, but the Safari/Themepark price of $60 seems to be steep. I'd like to think it was fair, but I can't give many (if any) regional parks justification for charging that much, especially one that is understaffed so frequently. -

He wants to raise admission to $73? Um, thats just a bit insane. -
on the discussion of "SAT's are useless"... I did reasonably well on my standardized tests (97th percentile on the ACT) and therefore I was given a boost in the college admissions process. So while on one hand I am thankful that I'm good at taking standardized tests, on the other hand I have to say that the SAT holds no real weight. Many of my friends are intelligent, great people that are involved in the school community and have high GPA's, yet a lot of them have done slightly above average on the SAT. I'm no smarter than they are, yet I have done much better than them on the SAT/ACT. This has essentially shown me that the SAT/ACT really only measure how well you take the SAT/ACT. The solution? Well, this is tricky since its necessary to have a common element between all college applicants. GPA's fluctuate between schools so its hard to compare them. SAT's even the playing field. The best way to level the playing field? SAT II subject tests. Instead of comparing scores on a reasoning test that has been proven, through a UC study, to fail to predict college grades, how about scores from information based SAT II tests are compared? These are tests that test knowledge, a much better thing than aptitude to use to compare students.

The anal probe thing definitely threw me off, but it still made me chuckle! The trip is over, sadly... Japan was just awesome. The people, the cities, and the culture make for a truly unique place that everyone (at least those who can respect it!!) should experience. Yeah, the mountains REALLY tower over the castle. Its kind of sad really. I forgot to mention the food. Its great so far. Robb and I went to this cool Cantonese restaurant at our hotel that was delicious. The food at the Magic Kingdom was good too. They had cool noodle soup bowls that were very tasty. The exchange rate is also nice. I think Mickey mouse bars were less than 2 US dollars. Oh, and the pussy card Rules! It makes things so much easier. Its like a debit card but sooo much better. If this came to the US I'd be thrilled. Transactions are easy and fast, and public transportation seems much less scary with it. No fumbling with change and tickets. Mark "there were also some freaky hand dryers at hong kong disney. Pictures were taken!" Luskus

Hey guys! We're waiting for our plane in South Korea to Tokyo so I thought I'd hop on a computer and surf the web. Overall, I'm amazed by Asia. Hong Kong was incredible and the public transportatio can't be beat. The people are friendly, obsessed with Christmas (castmembers LOVED saying Merry Xmas to us), and very into fashion (High heels etc to theme parks!). So yeah, Hong Kong Disneyland was A LOT better than I imagined. It was clean, pretty, well run, and overall very nice. Tomorrowland could have been better but it didn't ruin the experience. I was also really impressed with how English friendly everything here is. I've had no problems communicating. Ok, those are my thoughts so far! Mark "Asia = Awesome" Luskus

So today I'm packing for Asia! Heres a few pics of my progress... Here is my suitcase. We're doing all of our luggage carryon! A look inside the suitcase... I'm quickly running out of room. A list of what I have so far. Clothes hanging out. I haven't decided if they'll take a trip to Asia yet. Clothes drying... More clothes drying... Yeah, so hopefully I'll be able to get everything I need into that suitcase! I think it'll work out... Mark "I leave for California tomorrow. Exciting" Luskus

Since a lot of my friends got into their top choice schools too (Stanford, Boston University, Sarah Lawrence and Temple) a bunch of people and I went ice skating downtown. It was great! Once again thanks so much guys. Its really amazing to see over four years of effort culminate into something and its great to be able to share it with people. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be a molecular biology major, though Kenyon is famous for its english department so I'll have to take some humanities classes! Mark "I have to be at Kenyon in August so theres still time for Cedar Point!" Luskus -

Seeing those pictures reminds me of how awesome the mountains are. I hope it snows in Philly soon. It looks like you guys had a fun time. I think when I'm older I might have to jump on the bandwagon of untraditional thanksgiving trips. Mark "I really enjoy your photo TR's" Luskus

What Do You Want for Christmas?
QuakerOaties replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Random, Random, Random
My parents are already giving me an AMAZING trip for Christmas, but what would make Christmas even better is a digital camera... -
