  1. I will not miss this attraction. It's rough, not fun, and the pre-show is the most torturous pre-show ever, except perhaps the one for Terminator 3D. I don't know if a Simpsons ride is a good idea or not, but it would be nice if it wasn't a simulator. dt
  2. That was awesome! I've been to SDCC in the past, and there were a large number of near-naked women walking around and/or working at the show. That, and all the folks in odd costumes, made for an entertaining day. Thanks for the pics! dt
  3. Awesome video. That was one of the best days I've ever had at any park. Balder is easily the #1 wood coaster on the planet. And I still say, like we all discussed that day, that any TPR trip in the future MUST have a Liseberg add-on day, no matter where the trip is ("We're going to Japan...And then we're going to ride Balder!"). I'm going to try and get back to Liseberg again next year... dt
  4. I highly doubt I will be there, but I do want to say that Derek is a strong contender for Post Of The Year... dt
  5. Yes, but the UK uses different money. So what you would need to do is convert your dollars to euros, then convert the euros to yen, then convert the yen into martian space money, then convert the martian space money into pounds. It's complicated, but will give you the best exchange rate. Dave "ok, two people will get that joke" Thomas
  6. How much space is left in that lot? I thought they had already sold off some of it for various office buildings. I haven't been to the park since 2000, so obviously I haven't seen the lot lately. I agree it's all a ploy, though, for them to get to do whatever they want with the new stadium area. dt
  7. I'm not sure if it's the same time every year, but according to my wife (who has spent far too much time working in the UK), the holiday time usually starts in July, so I'd guess that these dates are probably the same for every year. My advice for anyone going to parks in the UK/Europe is to go in June. The only park that had a crowd on the UK trip was Thorpe Park. The rest were dead and rides were practically walk-ons almost everywhere. The same could be said for the trip we took to Europe in 2005, where most of the parks were pretty empty, especially on weekdays. Just my random thoughts... dt
  8. Thanks for posting your TR. It is nice to see some honesty, especially when it comes to Holiday World. I like the coasters (though I have not been there since Voyage was added), but there really is nothing else to do there. I liked the waterpark the one time we visited it, but I didn't think it was any better than the one at Dorney Park. And don't get me started on the food (most overrated pizza EVER!). It's all about the hosting of enthusiast events. Without those, this park would not be nearly as popular. And I think we can all agree that those Golden Ticket ballots should really be sent to people that actually travel and try new experiences... dt
  9. I really do not get why they bought RR, but are not going to brew it in the same place. I guess they just wanted the brand name. Ah well, I don't get the fuss over some of these beers anyway. RR was the beer you bought when you had no money, and now for some reason it's "cool". I'll stick to Guinness... dt
  10. Kennywood rocks. I haven't been there since 2002, and need to get back there. dt
  11. This PTR kicks much ass. And as bad as those tea cups look, they probably still run better than the ones at Thorpe Park! dt
  12. Guy = Entertainment! Looking forward to another installment... dt
  13. Happy Birthday! dt
  14. No way was I leaving you unprotected. God only knows what might have happened to you, considering some of the people roaming around. The only person that grabbed you was Robb, and I didn't stop him since I figured that he was allowed to do that occasionally... dt
  15. I don't think there's an airline in the US that I haven't been on at some point, and they're all pretty much the same to me. It's mostly Airtran out of Baltimore anymore, though I will occasionally take Southwest, even though I hate not having an assigned seat, which means you have to show up at the gate a lot sooner than normal. The worst I've ever been on was American, which had my all time favorite excuse for a delayed flight: "We can't find a pilot for the plane". Yeah, you're an airline, probably not a good idea to make sure you have a guy to fly the plane or anything. Morons. Out of the US, I've only used British Air, which is cool. I like flying with Mary, because she has silver status and we can use the longue, which rocks. Plus, I've gotten upgraded to business class three out of the four times I've taken a BA flight, and business class is godly... dt
  16. I never speak to anyone I don't know if I can avoid it, as I've found that entering into conversations with strangers results in hearing things like how demons live in their neighborhood, or how someone would like to box Bill Clinton, with complete round-by-round strategies (both of these are actual conversations that I got sucked into while riding the BART). I rarely go to parks by myself. About the only place I do occasionally visit solo is Knoebel's, and you rarely have to wait in any sort of line there on a weekday. And I'm with Joe on the whole coaster tool thing. Extra annoying. How the hell can you talk about coasters all day and ignore everything else in life?!? How dull... dt
  17. 12,000?!? And I STILL did not get the credit?!? Dammit... dt
  18. MFI = godly tacos! OK, Silver Comet is kind of fun, too... dt
  19. ^It was a dump when I visited in 2001, I can only imagine what it looks like now. I'm really amazed that it is still open, and hasn't been turned into a mall... dt
  20. Kick ass photo TR. Thanks for posting. I miss Blackpool... dt
  21. It's a shame he uses AOL and doesn't have his own domain name with lots of storage and all. He's probably missing out on lots of very interesting messages... dt
  22. I used to consider Mythos to be one of the ten best restaurants anywhere, despite the fact that it's inside a park. The food was that good. Now, they've turned it into just another park eatery. This, combined with the lousy operations and customer service I've witnessed on my last two trips to IOA/USF has turned the parks into places I might visit every couple of years, as opposed to every time I go to FL. dt
