Gilmore Girls & Roller Coasters
Meteornotes replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's the only episode of CSI I've ever watched the whole way through. Pretty amusing. I've never seen Gilmore Girls, and don't really know anything about the show, but that is a really funny line. Guy, Skull Mountain rocks! Make sure you sit in the back seat. When are you going to SFGAdv? dt -
Is anyone playing the Lost ARG?
Meteornotes replied to CreativeForce's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'm not getting involved personally, but I've been following the progress on another board (jinxworld.com, home of Brian Michael Bendis) where many of the users have Lost fever and are trying to figure everything out. I'm impressed so far with the effort of whoever is running the game. It's an interesting marketing idea. dt -
Photo Trip Report: SFKK, Holiday World and Beech Bend

Cool photos. And some of the captions were hilarious. "12 airtime minutes!" dt -

Your reports always entertain. T2 beat the hell out of me on my one and only ride, but maybe they sprayed some WD40 on it or tightened some bolts or something. Thunder Run is a great woodie (and Hurler did run like that at one point, very briefly), and I remember Chang as actually being fun, but perhaps it has not aged well. dt -

The thing that amazes me about the first SLC is after they built it and rode it, they decided to keep building them. I really liked WW when we visited last year. And Goliath kicks much ass. Hope to visit the park again some day. dt -
Oh my god, I am dying here! That first video with Robb & Guy was meatnormously funny! And Guy is THE MAN! I'm officially putting in a bid now for a message across his back for next year (I just have to think of something really odd to put there). And I remember Viper lines like that the first year the ride was open. I'm amazed it gets a line at all now. That was shocking. All the videos and photos were great. Looks like everyone had a good time. And how cold was the water, anyway? dt

Wes, if that list had included Dio, you would have indeed won. But you left him off. No prize for you. My List: Frank Zappa Elvis Clive Barker Howard Stern Mike Portnoy dt -
Cool pics. I will freely admit that I know almost nothing about cars. I'm happy with my Corolla, and will buy another one when mine wears out (coming up on 11 years old). dt

Sea World's Discovery Cove
Meteornotes replied to kc7gr's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That was a great TR. I've never been to DC, though I've thought about visiting. I haven't been to the Orlando SeaWorld in over 20 years, so maybe I should visit that again some time... dt -
I know how you feel. It sucks. Mary was out of the US for over 20 weeks last year. And has been gone about nine this year. The good thing is that her project is over now, after three years. It sucked being alone all that time. The few times I could visit her in the various places she was made it a bit better, though. dt

I've been to PCW. Nice enough looking park, but it has one of the worst coaster collections ever. And the flat rides did NOT live up to the hype! When the best ride in the park is the powered mine train, you know there's a problem. We did almost drown on that top spin, though. And we watched donuts get made. So a fun time was still had... dt

Awesome TRs. That was still the best trip I've ever taken to Orlando. I'll have to post my photos and stuff. Maybe next week, when I'm in NC. dt -
Site outages....
Meteornotes replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This site continues to kick ass. Never apologize, and thanks for all the hard work you guys do to entertain the rest of us. Now I have a question: what can a site do to prepare for an onslaught of visitors brought on by a Slashdot or Digg post? I only ask because my old site would get destroyed when I used to post NAB or Siggraph reports to it, and the only thing we could do was sort of sit around and wait for it to die down. Is it just asking your provider for more bandwidth or something else? I'm really curious about this, though I understand if you don't want to reveal secrets about how your site works or anything. dt -

I think you're in the lead for Bravest TPR Member Of 2006 with that update. Wow, what a dump. I think I would have driven away in the car. Very quickly. dt -
Need some help with TPR streaming video
Meteornotes replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
100% true. I always think you should stick with the easiest solution that works for everyone, or at least the majority. And the new version does indeed work in Firefox. And that was a funny video! dt -
Thanks everyone. She was a good dog, and will be missed, but I'll always remember how much fun she was to have around. She was a very happy animal, always excited to go outside and patrol the yard. Elissa, your comment was hilarious! Oddly enough, the cats and the dog almost never interacted. Sometimes they'd sit on their cat tower and stare at her, but they all pretty much left each other alone. I think my two cats take after me and are far too lazy to plot against anyone! Whoever asked, yes, she was a Welsh Corgi. I don't know a lot about dogs (this was actually the first dog I've ever had), but it is a pretty cool breed. dt

We came home from France yesterday, and early this morning our dog Sadie died. She was fifteen years old. Mary had her for about ten years. Sadie was a fun dog, loved to go for walks, and would often sleep under my desk while I was working. She had slowed down a bit in the last couple of months, but was fine until about a week or so ago. She will be missed... dt Sadie, a couple of months ago.

This just in: British Air is run by sea monkeys. A 40 minute flight turned into a 3+ hour session of torment, and we get to our final destination and discover our luggage has vanished into the netherworld. Morons... dt

Damn, that's a shame. Katamari on the PS2 is among the greatest games ever created. Sounds like they just phoned this one in or something. Too bad... dt

If people did that, the internet would pretty much have to close. I know that people like to look for a reason or something/someone to blame whenever something happens, but some times things are just an accident or beyond anyone's control. If someone is walking around with a health problem that they're unaware of, how is it anyone's fault? Some problems, especially brain related, are hard to detect. I have a hard time with people blaming the ride or park for these incidents. And there is no ride out there that has as many warnings as M:S. I still think they go overboard, and actually freak some people out more than normal. dt
