  1. It sucks when any coaster goes away, but I have to say that if I was doing my coaster rankings right now, this one would be pretty near the bottom of the list. Like Robb said, this really reminds me of the Starliner situation. It's another of those rides that just wasn't all that great. I'm glad I visited the park, but the place was in very sad shape, and I'm not shocked at all that the place is closed. I don't know anything about how BPB is managed so I can't comment on that aspect, but it was certainly obvious on our visit that this place had not seen any sort of care or investment in some time. Ah well... dt
  2. Japan deposit sent! I cannot wait... dt
  3. Happy birthday to one of the coolest people ever. You shall be spared an axe being buried into your skull since it is your birthday... dt
  4. I cannot recall being asked to remove my glasses on any ride at SFMM (except X), Disney or Universal. I have not been to SFMM since Tatsu was opened, so someone else will have to answer that one. Bags seem to be a hit and miss thing at SFMM, but I've never had a problem at Disney or Universal. Usually if it doesn't cause a problem with the restraint, it is OK. It often seems to be a something left to ride operator descretion, though. Knott's is well known for their strict policies, including glasses and bags. Be prepared to use a locker there a lot. Honestly, I'd leave the video camera in the car there, as it's just going to be more annoying to deal with it there. I'd bring a strap for the glasses, but don't be surprised if the op tells you that you can't wear them anyway. dt
  5. Wegman's destroys all other grocery stores. The cheese department is larger than my old apartment. dt
  6. I never understoon the fuss over that chili. It's more like sauce than anything else. I'll stick to my home made stuff. And Joe gets another cool point for making fun of White Castle! dt
  7. Cool pics/report as always. Sucks that another single rider line is gone, more attractions at WDW need a SRL, not less. dt
  8. That was awesome. Not enough pictures of women in cleavage-enhancing costumes (aka the only reason to go to one of these fairs!) though. And I'm setting my DVR right now for "Derek & The Sword". dt
  9. This is one of the greatest apocalypse/horror novels ever. If you like this, you should read "Swan Song" by Robert McCammon. It's sort of the same style of book (most of Earth's population wiped out by nuclear war), though it takes a very different path than The Stand. dt
  10. How does this place stay open? I've seen more exciting looking parking lot carnivals. dt
  11. I think that pretty much sums up the quality level of the place right there, if our non-PBA skills provided you with any sort of amusement. Though it was kind of fun having to take the pin that would not ever fall down (but would occasionally register as down) into account with the second ball. And I figured me almost totally killing myself in that wacky shack or whatever that screwed up walkthru was would have at least provided a few moments of diversion. I guess it would have been more fun if I had actually left a limb behind or something... dt
  12. I still think this place needs a carousel, especially one where you can grab rings. And Joe rules. Even if he does have that evil symbol as his avatar... Dave "Go Penn State!" Thomas
  13. Sure, you can eat at any restaurant. It is usually a good idea to make a reservation, especially at the more popular ones (Ohana's, California Grill). dt
  14. I'm not shocked by this. The park was in pretty sad shape during our visit. Other than the funhouse, there wasn't much there worth getting excited about. We were pretty much done with the place about an hour after it opened. It would be cool if the funhouse was relocated. dt
  15. Happy birthday Joey! dt
  16. I've found that if I play some of my music at the same volume, the other music gets turned down really fast. I'll have to get you some Strapping Young Lad CDs. Dave "controlling noise pollution with death metal since 1995" Thomas
  17. Wow, you really want to see pictures of me sitting on the couch and watching college football all day?!? OK then... dt
  18. Well, this has taken an odd turn. Maybe this should be the new Photoshop contest... dt
  19. We visited one of the Heartland locations when we were in NYC last April for the Dream Theater 20th Anniversary show. I remember liking the beer, but at this point have no idea what we were drinking! Congrats to Adam and Ellen! dt
  20. "Like Napolean Dynamite, but funny". Yeah, that pretty much sums it up! I should have downed some Stella's while watching. Whoever posted the margarita pics, you rock. I love a good margarita. The best I've had here in Baltimore is at Cafe Hun, a funky little place downtown. Nice and strong... dt
  21. Well, if Elissa had actually won the meat slicer at Liseberg, who knows what sort of carnage might have happened?!? But instead she got towels, which are not nearly as dangerous. Or fun... Dave "potentially hazerdous items as prizes is just another reason why Liseberg is the best park ever" Thomas
  22. ^I was wondering about that myself. I figured one of the mutants I see at the grocery store around here yanked it off in a dire attempt to get in front of me at the 10 Items Or Less Line (trying to check out 19 carts full of aerosol cheese and cotton balls, of course). dt
  23. Yes, but their giant sky ride (the one that used to transport you from near the entrance of the park to over by the coal cracker) is long gone. That's the one I was talking about. dt
  24. That is awesome. You rule, Elissa. Dave "extra cookies for you!" Thomas
  25. I never got the chance to have my picture taken by Screw Coaster. Ah well... dt
