  1. Great pictures! It looks like a good time was had by all. Also, I am MAD for that pink outfit Barron! Great look! Thanks for the Trip Report - good times...
  2. I have a question that I don't think I have read anything about. This is my first time using paypal. I received the confirmation from them that the deposit has been sent, but I haven't seen the deposit show up on the credit card that I used. How do I know that the deposit made it? Sorry if I seem a bit paranoid, but I would really like to go and want to make sure that the deposit made it to where it needed to go in good order. Thanks, david
  3. I would just like to give a little advice to the people complaining about the "system". Just pay a deposit and hope for the best. This is a GREAT opportunity to go on an amazing vacation with what seem to be amazing people. I have sent in my deposit and and am hoping and waiting to go. I'm sure that it takes an enormous amount of work to organize these things, and I am thankful that there are people out there that do it. I will be upset if I don't get to go, but it will not be the end of the world. I will still have TPR to look at, and the wonderful people here to meet at a later date. Thanks to R&E and to everyone involved in giving us the opportunity to go. I really hope to meet you all next summer. david
  4. Yes, it is normal to feel a bit sick. This is a BIG deal for you. Trust me, you will get over that and probably have a great time. Congratulations, and I hope that everything goes well for you. Good luck!
  5. Well, I paid my deposit - now I just have to sit with my fingers crossed for the next month or so hoping that I get to go on the MidWest trip. Hope, hope, hope, hope, hope...
  6. This is definitely a good topic. Credit card debt has a way of "sneaking up on you" and it is very easy to get in over your head. Having good credit becomes very important as you approach the home/car buying ages. I know that I partied like a "rock star" through college and beyond, and have spent the first half of my 30's digging myself out of the hole that I dug myself into. I now use credit responsably and have almost paid off all of the screwy things I did. Remember, defaulting and late payments can really tube your credit report for years to come. It can make it impossible for you to buy a house, and make you pay incredibly high interest rates on things like car loans. It is important to use discretion and to be careful whenever purchasing items on credit.
  7. I think Gummi Bears are the world's perfect food.
  8. Thanks for the pictures - it appears that a good time was had by all. That season pass price, however, is insane!
  9. Thanks for the pictures. It looks like you had a great time. Even though I am only ablut 5 hours from Orlando, I still haven't been to IOA. I will definitely get there this season though - looking at your pictures and others from IOA I realize that I am really missing out. david
  10. When I moved from Atlanta to Savannah I went for about 4 years without riding a coaster. At the time I was in Hotel/Restaurant Management and could never get the time off. Then I realized that Wild Adventure is like 3 hours away, SFoG is only 5 hours away, and Orlando is only 5 hours away. I still go between 3 - 6 months between coaster fixes sometimes - but am hoping to improve that in the near future. David
  11. I started college at the University of Alabama studying Chemical Engineering - but I really majored in beer. Transferred to Kennesaw State Unversity to get my grades up - see above major. Transferred to Georgia State University and studied Journalism with an emphasis on Public Relations. Am now a banker in Savannah, GA - has nothing to do with anything I did in college. Had to study for my Series 7 (a 7 hour long exam to become a licensed broker) and my Series 66 (another hellish test on Securities Law.) I've done both of these in the past year - and it was like being in college again (minus all of the beer.)
  12. I've had this problem off and on for years. I learned recently, however, that a Tylenol P.M. habit can harm you. If you do take them, take them as directed - too much Tylenol can mess with your liver functions. All of the relaxation, exercise, diet techniques listed above will work with a little time. If not - try Melatonin (in the vitamin section of the drug store.) It has helped me lately. Sometimes, you just need to give it a little time and it will sort itself out. If it keeps up, you might want to speak with your doctor. Just my experience and opinion - take it or leave it and good luck.
  13. GASM at SFoG. Its reflection in the lake that it is over is just beautiful. Also, at night when the lights are twinkling all along its track and fireworks are going off over it - a sight to behold. When I was little - it was the first "big" rollercoaster that I ever saw and I couldn't wait to be tall enough to ride it.
  14. I have to go with SFoG. Besides being my home park (now 4 hours away ) and where I had my first job in the '80's - It has a great collection of coasters. I do think that they do need to increase their flat ride selection (they keep taking them out, but never adding any back.) I always loved all of the coasters there and the addition of Goliath just ROCKED! The crowds can sometimes get rather intense, but I have been fortunate enough to go on very lightly crowded days (Like Easter) lately and had a wonderful time. The staff was nice, the park was clean, the music was good... all around nice time.
  15. I'll have to agree with the people that voted for Ninja at GASM at SFoG. The Ninja will bruise the uninitiated who don't know to brace themselves, and the GASM tears into that station - slams to a stop then screeeches down the set of tires on its way into the station. Please don't mistake this post as complaining though - I do like both rides, even if they beat me up a little.
  16. My favorite part used to be inversions, until I rode Goliath at SFoG. Now I would have to say airtime...definitely airtime.
  17. What great pictures - they really took me back. I remember that World's Fair - that was where I rode my first Enterprise. It's funny, I also remember that wierd little park in the Cherokee Reservation. Wow - what a blast from the past.
  18. "Tooth Fairy" was pretty groovy - I enjoyed it. This past weekend I rented the classic "My Bloody Valentine," and still enjoyed it. I also rented "The Nun" which was pretty good, but only moderately gory. David
  19. The more that I think about it - the more I think that the Midwest trip would be perfect for me. I haven't had a vacation in years and it would be great to meet a fun group of people that shares a passion of mine. I'm really looking forward to the flyers firming up the details.
  20. I am a fan of B-horror movies. This past week I saw a film called "Decampitated." It is one of those so bad it is good flicks. It was soooo stupid, but I was laughing through the whole thing. I think that they paid the "actors" in pizza. If you like the really bad therefore good slasher flicks - this one might be worth a look.
  21. ^ Has "outed" me about my Martian shaving habit VIs thinking about coasters also...
  22. The Sodom and Gamorrah Show - Pet Shop Boys I just can't get enough of this song - I think that I'll listen to it over and over again until I'm sick of it.
  23. I had the pleasure of riding Goliath twice on Easter Sunday. I only waited 20 minutes each time (the crowds were really light.) I actually ended up waiting longer to get the crap beat out of me on Ninja than I did to enjoy all of that wonderful airtime on Goliath.
