The "Favourite Piers Quotes" Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dave Thomas already said it, but: "My friends all call me TRUTHFUL Piers" "Oh Dear" and my personal favorite: "David, lets go do the smoking." David -
TPR's EPIC Oktoberfest Trip Report!
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Thanks guys for posting these! I miss Piers. This is almost the time of year where we've hung out before. For the new fan boys/girls...He's always a blast. He's not always drunk. He is FANCY! Oh yeah - he's also one of Kid Tums' favorite toys. David -
Physical changes you would like to make to yourself?
jynx242 replied to andre8's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've pretty much learned to like me for me, good and bad. If I had to pick something, it would be to undo some of the damage I've done to myself over the years. I have a scar on the bottom of my chin from a motorcycle accident I'd love to get "fixed." If I were to go over the top - Veneers. My teeth are okay, but why the hell not. -

That is AMAZING! Good for you guys and I can't wait for more updates of your experience. Wow...that's all I can say. All that PLUS Rob Zombie...and Donnie Osmond's Nephew????? Kick a$$!! -
^I'll never look at the ride the same again. As far as Rockit running - I honestly don't remember from last year. There was SO much going on around us that I never even looked up at Rockit. I know I'm glad we were on the RIP Tour though. The place was PACKED. IT was like one huge block party with random killers and zombies walking around. Can't wait to go this year! They definitely know how to do it up!

Well, let's see: First the earth cooled. And, then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died, and they turned into oil. And, then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And, Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di's clothes. I couldn't believe it, he took her best summer dress out of the closet, and put it on, and went to town. Had to do this. just. Had. To.

The Looping Star's name is Dora. I remember the ride op telling us that as they were pushing the car out of the station at Beech Bend. -
re: Mean Streak -- it wasn't rough its opening season, but it was boring. The only way a makeover could turn it into a good ride would be a complete reprofiling like they're doing with Giant. I understand why they're doing the big changes with Giant, creating something completely new for the GP to get excited about, but they could've simply left the profile as it was, installed the steel rails, and removed the trims. Much less money... and it would probably rocket Giant back into every top ten list on earth. From a rider standpoint, there was nothing wrong with that layout. It was absolutely insane. From a maintenance standpoint, it was a disaster. re: flying carpet -- I don't know who coined the term, but if you think back on cartoons of folks riding a flying carpet, the carpet was always undulating under the riders in waves while the carpet was hauling serious azz. The finale of Giant began with a drop off the last helix, hit a tightly banked S-turn at breakneck speed, then made a large 180 curve completely inside the structure with undulating hills that mimicked the way a flying carpet flies. Unlike the cartoon riders of a flying carpet, though, Giant riders were usually hanging on like crazy the whole time -- or getting tossed around like rag dolls. ^ I thought we weren't mentioning the Ending That Shall Not Be Named lest they &$#@ it up.

^ Cedar Fair is getting several rides like star flyers, but made by Mondial. Instead of chains supporting the seats, there are "arms". There are pictures in the threads of the 4 Cedar Fair parks getting (Cedar Point being one.) slow typing here. ^ What they said. -

^ Lou - you would be correct. I didn't help things by standing right next to the train and mocking her . All-in-all she was a great sport about it and ended up laughing hysterically by the 3rd lap. David -
Wild Adventures Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ We're going on the 16th to check it out. Haven't been for Halloween in about 7 years and have been told that it is much different now. I'm looking forward to it. The main thing I remember from my last night time visit to Wild Adventures is that some of those paths were DARK! There weren't any scare actors around, but it was spooky as hell just because of the dimness of the surroundings. David -

Most disturbing movie you've ever seen?
jynx242 replied to Sasquatch's topic in Random, Random, Random
I haven't seen it but am judging all over you for having done so . I'll probably watch it and stay in the closet about it. I'll send you a private message if I do. I know from various descriptions that Eli wouldn't even make it through the idea of this flick though. -
Just watched "Shrooms" on DVD. I was kind of let down. I was thinking it was about Mushrooms that went around killing people and was very excited. Then I found out it was about Mushrooms that make people go around killing people and stuff. Still kind of fun, but my imagined version would have been better!

I place trades for a "mega-bank's" investments branch. I basically buy and sell stocks, bonds, options and annuities for a group of financial advisors and support each of their client lists. This is not what I had in mind for when I "grew up," therefore - I mustn't have grown up yet .

Most disturbing movie you've ever seen?
jynx242 replied to Sasquatch's topic in Random, Random, Random
Sounds like you kind of feel like I did. The most disturbing part to me what the fact that I was actually freaked out by some of the scenes. I thought I was WAY too jaded for that. Also - the fact that it is absolutely gorgeously filmed makes what is happening on the screen that much more intense. I think you'll like Audition from your review of IMPRINT and I'm eager to hear your impression of it when you see it. ^^ Tyler - from what I've heard about "A Serbian Film" I don't know whether I'd watch it or not. Sounds kind of like a really REALLY bad car accident or train wreck that you don't want to stare at but can't help yourself. D>
