Journey to Japan
jedimaster1227 replied to jedimaster1227's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, with the school discounts (plus all of the things that ended up being paid for by the city of Urayasu and our host families for us) it totaled out to about $2,200. But we got alot for our money. That price is the reason that I am not going on a TPR trip this Summer. But, this coming year I get to save up for the TPR Mainland Europe tour in 08. -

^What day last week did you go to La Qua? I went on Friday the 18th to La Qua and Tuesday the 22nd to DisneySea. It would be pretty funny if you went to these places on the same day as me! -

Journey to Japan

Well I am set to go back in two years. And, my host family has promised to take me to Fuji-Q Highland when I come. Plus, they will be coming to Orlando in a few years so I will get to give them a tour of the city. On this trip, I only got four credits- Raging Spirits, (The little mermaid themed roller scooter in Mermaid Lagoon-forgot its name), Geo Panic and Spinning Coaster. -

^Thanks! I have plenty more to share, it is just going to take a while so... Here are the second half of my La Qua photos. Tomorrow comes DisneySea! The bullet trains should be considered credits (they are powered and they reach speeds of up to 150 mph)... The next day, we took the bullet train to Kyoto. Here I am eating my breakfast that my host mother made me, rice balls and Mitsuya Cider! Next, we hit the fun house... Not bad for my first fun house in 10 years... So that was basically my day at La Qua. It was a fun coaster with interesting light effects, creepy cage restraints and a bang-your-head-around ride that all I really remember is feeling like my ears were about to fall off. The ride's placement is great, but with compact looks comes compact feel... Next, we walked down to Geopolis to ride Geo Panic. I guess the green color it has means that it is really good, because I went back for four more cups over the rest of the trip! More of the soda machine goodness. Today I tried Melon Fanta! Is there something wrong with this picture? Here are Adam and I (I am also Adam) on the bullet train. Of course, we were watching Eurotrip on the ride-it is only the best travel movie ever! My first sign of DisneySea that I saw at the bullet train station. Those photos are in the next update! Again... what?!? What!?! Pocari Sweat anyone? -
This Thanksgiving, I went with my school to Japan (to stay with host families in Orlando's sister city, Urayasu [home to Tokyo Disneyland]). I was able to experience two of Japan's parks and more of the cool and wacky that is Japan. My pictures will basically explain it all, considering that there are over 100 to load-so this might take a while! I'll have any left over reports added after all of the photos are uploaded. (Edit: I forgot to add a thank you to Robb and Elissa for doing a segment on La Qua. I wouldn't have known about it without you guys!) Next, we decided to ride Big O, the world's only hubless ferris wheel... The car actually have mp3 players built in (along with heated seats). Needless to say, they like it...alot! In thanks for my families graciousness in taking me to La Qua (and in a desperate attempt to wait out the storm so I could ride the outdoor rides), I decided to take my host family to Bubba Gump's. This was my sixth location around the world that I had be Walking through the parking garage, I found my first exotic soda machine. This one serves you your drink in a plastic cup with ice. I was really amazed! Unfortunately, due to rain, all of the outdoor rides including Thunder Dolphin (but excluding Big O) were closed. My first day to explore Japan, my host family was willing to take suggestions, so I asked about La Qua and they worked to get me there. Here are all of the attractions at La Qua. Still lamenting the fact that I can't ride Thunder Dolphin... Here is an exclusive "in-the-rain mechanics" shot of Big O... No Thunder Dolphin'y goodness! La Qua...In the rain! The cars were extremely comfortable. But to no avail... it rained... and rained... and rained... and then the deluge! (Those of you that remember the original Living Seas will get my reference...) It was a really smooth ride. Both relaxing and time consuming... So, my first credit of the day was the Spinning Coaster. It was actually pretty fun!

I really do love Power Surge. I was able to ride one when I went to Cypress Gardens about 6 months ago. To me, it was the best ride in the park and when the ride op let me keep riding without stopping the ride for 5 times, I was in heaven! It was insane, but afterwards, I was like: ... It was a fun ride though. Glad you had a good time! I really did enjoy this TR! -

TPR Ornament? Considering I will be buying the last couple of Coaster Expedition Volumes that I didn't get in my first order, plus Guy's DVD, plus a hoodie and a T-shirt, an ornament would be pretty cool. I guess since I'm Jewish and I don't have a Christmas tree, I will just hang my TPR ornament on my Hannukah Bush!

Could you please make mine "The Certified Backseat Coaster Monger" Thank you for everything!

Whenever the 5th Gate is built, it won't be themed to Beastly Kingdom, as the land was made to only have a few attractions (hence the hint of the dragon in the park). I have stood on the land on Western Way where the 5th gate and the main idea that I have been told by my Imagineer friend seems to flow really well, but the park won't happen for a while. Just wait for Western Way to be developed. You what they say, "If you build it, they will come..."

Tokyo Disneyland Advice
jedimaster1227 replied to CycloneMan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's really funny that you mentioned that you are going to Tokyo Disneyland next week, considering that I am doing the same. I am going with my school to Japan for a International Studies Program. What I'm really excited about is the fact that the city of Urayasu (home to Tokyo Disneyland and the Sister City of Orlando) is paying for our tickets to go DisneySea. Too bad you will be there on Thursday while I will be there on the Tuesday of that week, otherwise I could have said hey to you! -
^Somewhat true, but not completely. Many of the Imagineers from the Animal Kingdom project were laid off during the planning phase and many of those Imagineers hopped on the Islands of Adventure project. Though the two projects did carry some similarities, Beastly Kingdom would be far from what Islands of Adventure was. Beastly Kingdom would have had: Dragon Tower- A suspended (not high speed) coaster themed to the a castle ruin (the script I read for the storyline from my friend that worked on the project talked about how you helped a bunch of bats steal treasure from a dragon, hence the Disney storytelling comes into play). Maze of the Unicorn- A maze themed to mythical creatures that would have multiple dead ends filled with Audio Animatronic creatures like the Minotaur. Once you reached the exit, you would be greeted by a Unicorn. From what my friend explained to me, the old Discovery River Boat Tour boats would have made a stop in Beastly Kingdom (as their third stop), shortening the ride time so that guests could get off.

Ikea is really great (plus an Ikea with the TPR Crew is amazing). Oddly enough, my family has skipped out going to theme parks and attractions in Canada at least one day every year when we go, so that we can make a visit to Ikea (as that is the closest we ever get to one-that is until Orlando's is finally built! YEEHAW!!!).

Cypress Gardens... -
Here are the last of today's photos... And to finish...My snooping around has gotten you this update. The inside of the old Who Wants to be a Millionaire studio has been gutted. Midway Mania is now ready to start construction! Thats all for today! The dragon in the center isn't there for beauty. It signifies the missing land meant to go into Animal Kingdom named Beastly Kingdom. The land would have had a Unicorn themed maze, a suspended coaster and at least one more thrill ride. And neither has the Dreamfinder! EPCOT Center has not been forgotten. I love this poster! The newest show, Finding Nemo has already been given amazing reviews. The Theater in the Wild formely housed Tarzan Rocks, brought over from Disneyland Paris. After the show's removal, the theater was gutted and redone from the inside out, making it a newly enclosed and air conditioned aquarium... The "Tree Lady" is huge!
