Expedition Everest Yeti Not Working?
jedimaster1227 replied to JJemMO852's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is the point. This means that the Yeti (the animatronic version) was operating in B mode. When the Yeti is functioning in A mode, it moves in full. When in B mode, strobes go off and a fan blows his fur so it looks like he is moving, when in fact, he is not. The ride was designed with this procedure in mind, especially because this animatronic does need time to cool off from its stress of nearly clobbering guests with its hydraulic arm. B mode also allows the Yeti this cooling time. -
TR: Orlando Theme Parkin' Weekend!
jedimaster1227 replied to jedimaster1227's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Continuing on from Day 1... Geoffrey really did enjoy the ride, but so did these people! Not his name, but close enough. Mr. Hightower? They don't have this in Tokyo! No kidding? For such a busy day, we only waited 20 minutes to get on. Look at those nervous riders! -
This weekend I decided to celebrate Hanukkah in the best way possible-go to the parks! Day 1: We started out at MGM Studios for some fun! At least this looked familiar... Not the entrance lobby covered in Hightower propaganda... Not the Hotel Hightower. I decided to take Geoffrey to see our version of Tower of Terror. Then he posed for a photo! He told me that he was working on a 3-D film, and that his first effect would have his hand coming at you just like this! This guy embarassed a man wearing a wife-beater. It was pretty funny... Truly awesome! We skipped this too! Here is the hidden Mickey of the night! Take that Wizards of Winter! Back for more Dancing Lights! The old studio is now an open air building! (But not for long!) Walls are now up around the former Who Wants to be a Millionaire studio. Midway Mania, here we come! I'm gunna pass on this one! For the beginning of Hanukkah, I decided to take my parents to MGM Studios so that they could see the Spectacle of Dancing Lights. We started out here...

Idiot Ride Ops.
jedimaster1227 replied to kidcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. All of the Ride Ops working at Le Monstre in La Ronde were on their cell phones, moving really slowly because they had to text. That is the reason the queue line was clocked at 2 hours that day. I realized after riding that the 2 hour wait wasn't worth the credit. What a credit monger I am! 2. Gwazi's ride op was checking every single person to make sure that their lap bar would go down as far as possible. He pushed too hard on a larger man, causing the man to have a panic attack. So, they released everyone's restraints, started over and the the op did the same thing again. This continued for two more times and after about 20 minutes of Gwazi's Tiger sitting while Lion had gone through about 12 times, they got the train out of the station-after that, the same train stopped on the lift and they closed down Tiger for the rest of the day. Too bad I was next in line to get on... -
A lil' Robby Rob christmas
jedimaster1227 replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It wasn't directed at you. More of me, as I do have it, and so does my father, and his father. Didn't mean to offend! I am really really sorry about that... -

^Yes, well not all Israelis are Jewish and not all Jews are Israeli. I myself am a Russian Jew (not Russian born, but Russian in heritage) -

^^I had a feeling you were Jewish! That makes at least three of us on the forum. Anyways, Happpy Hannukah (one of the many ways to spell it)! Oh, and I really did like the story, as always, your references make your stories all the better. Keep up the amazing work! -

Truly a shame considering that this ride will lose its one truly unique feature... I really did like the loop. -
The adventure of Lil' Robby Robb

Wow! I just realized that comic #3 takes place at that abandoned theme park in Japan. Creepy! -
Dinoland was intended as a filler land through and through. Like Mickey's Toontown Fair, the land pulled in more people than originally expected, prompting for each land to be given the permanent treatment (though on a low budget). Dinoland got Primeval Whirl while Mickey's Starland was renamed Mickey's ToonTown Fair, recieving a full upgrade including its own roller skater, the Barnstormer. I don't ever consider anything temporary with WDW anymore for one main reason that I have learned about over time: everything Disney makes to be temporary ends up with high enough numbers for a small upgrade so that it can be kept permanently. The latest that I see this theory applying to is Pooh's Playful Spot (on the real estate of our old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea lagoon). It is already pulling in its target audience throughout the day, prompting Disney to keep it.

On a good day, an hour an a half. On a great day, an hour.

Exhibits closed: Coach's Corner MetLife Touchscreen Activity Moniters Wonder Cycles That is three of four exhibits including the Sensory Funhouse. France doesn't have 5 to 10 people in it on peak season. It is more like 15 to 20 which is pretty good considering the film is as old as the park and waiting for France to finally replace it (much like Canada). The truth is, the pavilion can't act as relief: 1. if it can't hold its guests 2. if it can't attract any guests into its gates 3. if it looks like crap to its guests 4. if it isn't advertised by the park at all All of these reasons are why this pavilion will never be a proper relief for Soarin' or Test Track.
-
It was a joke, don't worry. But about WOL, it was moldy everywhere. Half of its exhibits were removed or covered up. The pavilion is running on 3-5 CMs a day. It is dead already. It wasn't even worth opening up for the busy season as no one cared enough to go in except the Disney fanatics coming to say their goodbyes (myself included) and the poor souls that the greeter outside of the pavilion dragged in after they found out that Universe of Energy had closed for the day. No pavilion is ever this dead, not even Journey into Imagination. That says something now doesn't it?

Well, it basically is the idea of a local fair/tourist trap (almost parodying Orlando and its many tourist traps to be found). Dinosaur (formely Countdown to Extinction) is considered to be a tourist attraction (again parodying the major tourist attraction in which this land lies) and the Dinoland U.S.A. is a side trap to get foreign tourists to easily get stuck in its novelty attractions. From Dinosaurs with Florida shirts and long cameras around their necks, the parody continues, making fun of the tourists that are feeding this land by visiting it in the first place. The carnival idea is truly mocking, but that is its purpose. Only those of us that think about the theming of a land catch these kind of inside jokes/insults (though most of them are truly appropriate) while the average guest enjoys the few attractions and moves on. The effort put into the land is more for the enjoyment of Imagineers, staff and Disney fanatics.

Your Coaster Pal
jedimaster1227 replied to jedimaster1227's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well there you go! -
I recently realized that several members on the forum here have their own coaster pals to ride with (like I said before: Elissa had Mugsy and now the Tomato, Robb has Ryan and Yeti Ball and Guy has Kim). Who is yours? (If you have any photos to share of you and your coaster pal, post them here.) (Hopefully, this is considered an ok topic...) Me and my coaster pal, Geoffrey Shankberg!

Actually, Buzz's theming mostly impresses me (other than the obvious mechanics in clear view).Dinoland is a mess. It is a filler land, much like what Mickey's Starland was meant to be. Too bad both became popular enough to earn their spots in the administrations eyes as worthy permanent attractions.
