  1. Disneyland Paris has released a number of new updates focused on the changes big and small coming to the parks, resorts and beyond! https://news.disneylandparis.com/en/exciting-new-details-on-projects-coming-to-life-in-2026-at-disneyland-paris-to-elevate-the-guest-experience/ While transformation work is in full swing at Walt Disney Studios® Park – soon to be called Disney Adventure World – ahead of the opening of World of Frozen and Adventure Way on next March 29, many other projects are underway throughout the destination, elevating the guest experience when coming to life in 2026 & beyond. More magic for Rivers of the Far West at Frontierland® in 2026 By the end of summer 2026, guests will enjoy an enhanced experience at Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing, thanks to new scenes added along the route of Rivers of the Far West, and inspired by the original drawings of Imagineer and Disney Legend Marc Davis. The new figures, including a buffalo on a prairie, and adorable racoons and a skunk on a floating log, have been specially redesigned and produced for the project by Walt Disney Imagineering Paris teams. Guests will catch a glimpse of these new additions while enjoying arelaxing cruise aboard the iconic Molly Brown boat, which has recently been renovated from stem to stern. New improvements around the Hollywood Tower Hotel In Walt Disney Studios® Park, work is in progress at The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ new covered outdoor waiting area, that will open in Spring 2026. This themed area will enrich the story of The Hollywood Tower Hotel, by representing the remnants of the Patio, that was once a relaxing courtyard with an outdoor pool, greatly appreciated by the show business elite, but fell into disarray. Every material element has been carefully selected to fit with the theme, and to echo the Pueblo Deco architecture of the premises. The props and elements of decor disseminated in the queue will give more clues about the tragic events that occurred at The Hollywood Tower Hotel – preparing guests for what’s awaiting them inside. Next door, the new merchandise location inspired by the 1930s flower shops will open early 2026. The existing structure have been completely reworked to create a boutique harmoniously blending into World Premiere Plaza and its Art Deco-inspired theatre district area. It will offer an authentic atmosphere thanks to an array of props scattered around the boutique, including flower bouquets, pictures celebrating its historical milestones, and even a fridge similar to those used by Californian florists at the time. The major refurbishment of Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy, started in October 2025, is underway for Imagineers and Disneyland Paris teams. On the menu for this renovation is a generous serving of technical upgrades and scenic enhancements, all carefully crafted to offer guests an even more immersive experience into the world of the Pixar Animation Studios film Ratatouille. The queue will be enhanced with a new scene depicting a Parisian artist’s studio teeming with details and accessories such as canvases on the walls, paint splatters, and a fruit basket that may well whet the appetite of all the adorable rats in the neighbourhood. Inside the attraction, new props, enhanced projections, and larger-than-life props and set pieces – currently being produced – will add extra flavour to key scenes, and enhance guests’ perception of being shrunk to the size of Remy and his friends. Upcoming renovation of Annette’s Diner: Imagineers are getting ready to hit the floor! At Disney Village, Annette’s Diner will temporarily close on 5 January 2026, for a major refurbishment lasting several months. The renovation will focus on enlarging the kitchens and completely refurbishing the dining room, including floors and furniture, while preserving its charm and the retro atmosphere that has been so popular since 1992. Some iconic features will be completely reimagined, such as the bar, whose layout and aesthetic will be redesigned to pay tribute to the distinctive chrome look of classic diners. The booths will also sport a new design inspired by 1950s car seats, in colours typical of the era such as pink, blue and vanilla yellow. When it reopens, Annette’s Diner — with a slightly increased seating capacity — will continue to bring the golden age of Rock ’n’ Roll and the 1950s back to life, much to the delight of its guests. Major renovation of Disney Sequoia Lodge to begin soon! Starting January 2026, major refurbishment work will be carried out to enhance and elevate the experience offered at Disney Sequoia Lodge, while preserving its wooden décor along with its authentic and warm atmosphere. The design will elevate the tribute to the beauty of nature to inspiring new heights. while taking inspiration from the forests following the tradition started by Walt Disney and his team of animators. Every space, from the rooms to the lobby, as well as the shopping and dininglocations, will be reinvented as an ode to wildlife, offering the perfect environment to unwind and let one’s mind wander. As a reminder, the hotel will remain open during the refurbishment work, which will be carried out in phases. These various projects offer just a glimpse of the many upcoming works throughout the destination, and many other projects are being considered to surprise guests during their next visit to Disneyland® Paris. More information to come! https://news.disneylandparis.com/en/unveiling-the-source-of-disney-cascade-of-lights/ At Adventure Bay, the entire team behind Disney Cascade of Lights, the destination’s upcoming second night-time show, is busy getting everything ready for its official launch on 29 March 2026. Here’s your chance to learn more about the design and behind-the-scenes magic of this dazzling production created for Disney Adventure World, the second reimagined park of Disneyland Paris. A CASCADE OF REHEARSALS Darkness has fully settled over Adventure Bay. The construction workers who were still on site at Disney Adventure World a few hours ago have left. Around the lake, a surge of activity breaks the quiet, as the creators and technicians of Disney Cascade of Lights are hard at work. They are currently rehearsing the placement of the impressive structure that will be positioned in the centre of the lake each evening from 29 March 2026, housing key equipment for the show – fountains, lights, projectors, and pyrotechnics. This structure consists of five elements: a 14 m² central platform, connected to four barges whose extending arms form an almost circular shape, echoing the lake’s contours. All of this is done in total silence, with fully electric pusher boats moving the various components from the backstage marina, capable of handling the entire structure’s approximate 160 tonnes. The barge operators have received specialised training to manoeuvre the barges with maximum precision, especially when passing the iconic swing bridge from World of Frozen. Once the structure is securely moored and connected, all that remains are the 379 aerial and aquatic drones specially developed for the show, before rehearsals can begin. A NEW WAVE OF DRONES Producer Ben Spalding has been dreaming of this show for over 7 years. Back then, he was working on Disneyland Paris’ first drone shows, as part of the resort’s 30th anniversary celebrations. First came Disney D-Light, and the following year, Avengers: Power the Night. At both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios® Park, the aim was to bring stories to life in the sky – reaching up to 120 m high. Soon, he was already thinking ahead to the next experiment, one in which the drones would fly lower and nearer to the audience. Truly revolutionary! The Adventure Bay lake project provided the backdrop for him to turn his vision into reality. Working closely with Dronisos, Disneyland Paris’ official high-tech partner from the outset of this adventure, new drones were developed: aerial drones that are more resistant to wind and rain, as well as aquatic drones, nicknamed ‘ducks’. Thanks to these groundbreaking innovations, the light show will come closer to the audience than ever before and be even more dazzling. ‘The water acts like a mirror that multiplies all our light sources,’ explains Ben Spalding. ‘Our aquatic drones light up the surface of the lake, combined with low-angled lights all around the edges of the lake. And then there are the fountains, each with its own light sources, and the various pyrotechnic effects. It’s a spectacular cascade of lights!’ All these elements come together to create an extraordinary display of water and light, adjusted down to the millimetre so that every component fits perfectly without disrupting the others. ‘The secret is teamwork. The entire show was previewed in 3D. As part of this programme, we used a detailed model of the park, from which each team member – responsible for drones, pyrotechnics, lighting, and more – developed their own plan. This made it possible to visualise, plan and choreograph things in advance so that everything came together perfectly when live.’ To bring this luminous festival to life, a team of 24 technicians will be present each evening. ‘That’s more than twice as many as for shows like Disney Dreams or Disney Illumination. That just goes to show the complexity and richness of Disney Cascade of Lights!’ A RUSH OF EMOTIONS All this technology would be meaningless if it didn’t serve the audience’s emotions, guided by a strong, engaging story. ‘Focusing on emotion and storytelling was a key priority. We wanted a concept that could resonate with all European audiences, and that’s how we came up with the idea of Inspiration,’recalls Ben. Like Peter Pan’s shadow in Disney Dreams, Inspiration has become a character in its own right and the show’s guiding light. It’s also the link between the audience and the characters in the story. And every one of these characters was carefully selected. Mulan’s commitment is driven by honour and family, just as Moana’s is guided by the ocean, inspiring her to embark on adventures for the good of her community. It is Hercules’ courage of heart that makes him a true hero, just as Judy Hopps’ sense of duty drives her to rise above prejudices and become part of the Zootopia police force. Each Avenger followed their own inspiration and path before becoming a hero, just as Carl Fredriksen did in his unique way, driven by the promise he made to a loved one. Director Susan Plyer (Minnie’s Dream Factory ) was particularly inspired by this concept and these characters. ‘Each and every one of them embodies an emotion that can strike a chord with every guest,’ Susan says. ‘They are an endless source of inspiration in our lives, whether in helping others, supporting family, or finding the courage to face daily challenges.’ The character’s visuals have been meticulously crafted, with both design and colour carefully calibrated to suit projection onto a water curtain. Music is both the emotional driver of the show and the metronome that keeps all its elements in perfect harmony. Composed by Mark Hammond (‘Lost in the Magic’) and produced by Jonathan Barr, the show’s score was recorded in the legendary Abbey Road studios in London by a 90-piece orchestra, and is accompanied by an original song, ‘We Can Be Heroes’, which in itself embodies the show’s spirit. A 360° VIEW The creators of Disney Cascade of Lights paid close attention to ensuring that spectators enjoyed the best possible experience from every seat – a major challenge given the scale of this massive 3-hectare lake. Not only was the design of the central structure crucial, but so too was the placement of 240-plus floodlights and light points directed at the lake, as well as the sound setup throughout Adventure Bay. Taking a 360° approach also requires addressing the environmental impact of a production of this scale. From the fully electric power supply for the boats, reducing the carbon footprint, to the lake’s filtration system employing different fish species, to the residue-free materials used in fireworks and pyrotechnics, every aspect has been meticulously planned. As a result, the show leaves a minimal environmental footprint, but a maximal emotional one, giving the audience unforgettable memories shaped by the flood of emotion poured in by every creator, from the initial concept down to the final technical detail. https://news.disneylandparis.com/en/a-new-original-soundtrack-for-adventure-way-at-disney-adventure-world/ From 29 March 2026, guests arriving on Adventure Way will be welcomed by an original soundtrack specially created for this promenade by composer Philippe Rombi. This brand-new theme, lasting more than 40 minutes and recorded at the legendary Abbey Road studios, will offer guests a magical interlude at the heart of Disney Adventure World. On Saturday 13 December, French composer Philippe Rombi surprised Disneyland® Paris fans during an event in the heart of the resort by personally unveiling the new musical theme written for Adventure Way, the new lush alley that will, from spring 2026, link together the immersive worlds of Disney Adventure World. Alongside Michel den Dulk, Portfolio Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, he spoke about the inspiration behind the composition of this suite. While the music for worlds such as World of Frozen is naturally based on the animated films, an area as unique as Adventure Way could only have an original score — a first for Disneyland Paris since 1992 and the original soundtrack heard in Discoveryland. To rise to this musical challenge, and inspired by his distinctive style, the Imagineers decided to call upon a composer well known in French cinema: Philippe Rombi. Nominated four times for the César Awards, notably for the film Joyeux Noël, whose soundtrack was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road studios, he recorded the music for Adventure Way under the same conditions, during the summer of 2025, with the 84 musicians of this iconic orchestra. It was a return to his roots for the composer, who worked as a pianist at the Disneyland Hotel when Disneyland Paris opened in 1992! Building on creative discussions, concept reviews, and even a visit to the Disney Adventure World construction site, Philippe Rombi devised two main themes inspired by notions of adventure, travel, wonder, and distant horizons. From these two main motifs, he composed a magnificent suite of nearly 40 minutes that resonates throughout Adventure Way, including the various themed gardens that are part of it. For these gardens, he added subtle nods to Disney themes — Peter Pan and 101 Dalmatians for the Gazebo Garden, and Tangled for its dedicated garden. A special piano version can also be heard at The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge. The result is a perfect blend of Philippe Rombi’s artistic identity and Disney’s musical universe! “Choosing to create original music for an entire area of a Disney Park is extremely rare, and it’s even rarer to entrust this job to a French composer. It’s a true recognition of my work and a real honour. I’ve always composed from the heart, driven by my passion. The fact that my music moved the Imagineers to the point where they felt they could entrust me with this huge responsibility means a great deal to me”, declared Philippe Rombi. https://news.disneylandparis.com/en/exclusive-spotlight-on-minnies-dream-factory/ After six magical seasons, the Dream Factory is reopening its doors from 7 February 2026 for a reimagined show, this time starring Minnie and friends. A NEW ADVENTURE STARRING MINNIE AND FRIENDS After a short break, the dream machine at the Dream Factory is back in action and ready to turn dreams into magic. Everything began back in 2024, when director Susan Plyer had the idea of putting Minnie and all her Disney friends in the spotlight. ‘I wanted to give the show a new twist, so I suggested that Minnie and her friends should be in charge of the Dream Factory. Our Disney Characters are the very heart of Disney, so who better than them to nurture our dreams?’ In this new story, Minnie lovingly leads all her friends who work in the Dream Factory, including Chip & Dale, who are the comedy duo of the show. Meanwhile, Donald looks after each and every technical detail, while Daisy brings her energy and enthusiasm to the challenges and helps motivate her colleagues – a real dream team! ‘This is a new vision of the Dream Factory,’ explains Susan. We’ve kept the idea of this marvellous machine that transforms our dreams into magic, while offering a more up-to-date story that’s even closer to our guests. In this adventure, when problems arise, they’re solved as a team! Achieving your dreams is always a challenge, and it’s only by helping each other that you can succeed. That’s what this show is all about.’ A UNIQUE IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE As in any self-respecting musical, the songs take centre stage. They move the story along and allow the various characters to share their emotions with the audience. To create the soundtrack, Susan went through the Disney Channel music archives and selected the songs whose lyrics best suited the new experience. These songs were then specially adapted to meet the needs of each scene, giving the audience the chance to sing along with the Disney Characters to iconic tunes from the Disney Channel repertoire in new version, featuring a new original score. The show’s creators also wanted guests to feel closer to the action, with more opportunities for interaction. For example, Susan worked closely with lighting designer Adrien Mourey to highlight the front of the stage area, where much of the interaction with the audience will take place. ‘My aim is for visitors to feel even more involved in the show. Including the stage and the mezzanine, we now have three levels, three places from which to tell our story, with the front-of-stage area providing a privileged space for sharing.’ This strong bond with the audience is also expressed in the script, written in collaboration with the author of the very first show, Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal. ‘His approach matches this new vision perfectly. Since he is familiar with every detail of the first version, he was able to add a host of subtle touches to bring alive the proximity I was looking for.’ The Factory’s appearance has also been redesigned. From the moment they arrive, audiences will be immersed in a brand-new lighting atmosphere, then discover a set adapted by scenographer Tiphaine Bonin, filled with playful nods to Minnie. The new costumes worn by the Disney Characters in the show were designed and created at Disneyland Paris. The special effects are equally spectacular, featuring favourites like the dream bubbles, and introducing some brand-new surprises. A DREAM CAST On stage, alongside Donald, Daisy, and Chip & Dale, Minnie has a whole dream team to keep the Factory up and running. These exceptional colleagues are not only singers, but also actors and dancers. This is referred to as ‘triple talent’: a distinctive quality of musical-theatre artists, trained across all three disciplines. ‘I know this world well, and that is exactly the energy I wanted to give to our show. After all, this is World Premiere Plaza!’ To form this team, over 800 hopefuls took part in the auditions, including newcomers and veterans of the show, all determined to continue this adventure, at both an artistic and human level. The first selections focused on solo singing before concentrating on dance and then singing in harmony. Improvisation was also at the heart of the process, both individually and in groups. Finally, fourteen of the applicants were chosen to join the show’s cast. They are all rehearsing hard as we speak to be ready for the launch of the new season. ‘These rehearsals are very intense because all three of my teams – the vocal coach, the acting coach and the dance captains – are present at the same time to ensure that each discipline reaches its highest level. That’s why we had to recruit only the very best!’ The cast also includes actors who sign in French sign language (LSF). This season, they move beyond narrating, becoming fully integrated into the production itself. As in previous years, this ‘multilingual’ version will be available at weekends, on public holidays and during the school holidays. Join us on 7 February to dream together and discover a show that will appeal to young and old alike, brought to you by Disneyland Paris. ‘All too often, we tend to forget our dreams, letting daily life take priority over our aspirations,’Susan concludes. But you can dream at any age and in any situation. It might be something as simple as taking some time for yourself, or something magical … such as staging a show at Disneyland Paris! I really wanted this new story to inspire everyone. Because dreams have no limits …’

Roller coaster fans may have a future option for thrills on International Drive without having to visit a theme park. Utah-based amusement ride manufacturer S&S Worldwide Inc. announced plans to build a launch roller coaster next to Mango’s Tropical Cafe, according to a Nov. 18 social media post. Launch coasters use a unique system to accelerate quickly from a standstill. The concept video also shows a tower ride next to the coaster as part of the restaurant property at 8126 International Drive. The concept art shows the attractions in the parking lot space in front of the nightclub and restaurant. The coaster appears to be S&S Worldwide's 'triple launch' design with a track length of 1,260 feet, a max speed of 64 mph and a ride time of 95 seconds. It also looks to only have one ride vehicle running at a time, which can seat 12, having a ride capacity of roughly 320 people per hour, according to the ride manufacturer's website. One of the unique features is the 125-foot drop at over 60 mph and its three launches. Josh Wallack, owner of Mango's Tropical Cafe, confirmed the plans and said the move is part of his push to enhance that intersection along the tourism corridor. “Our hope is that we can continue to be a great place for residents and locals — but we really need to raise the bar for entertainment,” he said. Wallack said the rides will be funded through a combination of debt and equipment financing. He added the construction timeline and the total cost have yet to be determined. S&S Worldwide Inc. did not respond to a request for comment. The company markets a mix of thrill, family and tower rides, as well as offering ride services. Wallack shared that people may be familiar with this coaster as it is already at Ocean City, a tourism destination on New Jersey's Jersey Shore. According to the park's website, it costs roughly $10 per guest to ride the coaster. Meanwhile, the envisioned parking lot space may appear tight compared to other coaster sites, as that area is 16,000 square feet, according to South Florida Water Management District mapping tools. For comparison, the same mapping tool shows Freedom Flyer, a suspended inverted coaster at Fun Spot America in Orlando, takes up roughly 35,000 square feet of space. SeaWorld Orlando's Pipeline: The Surf Coaster sits on around 126,000 square feet of space. Still, Wallack didn't appear deterred as he said the coaster has a smaller footprint than other I-Drive attractions — such as the Starflyer at Icon Park. The announcement also comes a year after Wallack confirmed his plan for The Skyplex complex — a mixed-use destination anchored by a 500-foot tower roller coaster — was officially canceled. Financing for Skyplex fell apart during the pandemic, he previously said. The new coaster does not appear to be as ambitious — or have a price tag of $250 million. Wallack also said he plans to use The Skyplex land — primarily on the northeast corner of I-Drive and Sand Lake Road — as a staging area for the ride's construction process and piece it together at Mango’s. “We are lucky to have the available land close by,” he said. “But even if we didn’t own it, most of the time people who own vacant lots, they’ll take some rent for someone to do construction lay down work.” Peter Weishar, director of the themed experience programs at the University of Central Florida, said he does have some questions regarding the logistics of building a roller coaster on Mango’s property. However, he does think it could work as he said S&S Worldwide is a credible ride manufacturer that has a proven, successful track record. “They didn't provide a lot of details about when it would be expected or when construction would start, but the company that does it is a very well-known coaster company that does some quality work,” Weishar said. “So, if it does happen, it would be terrific.” He also said it is a good idea — as it could help entertain tourists who are coming to town but may only be able to spend half a day here. It could also be another option for those who may not want to commit to spending a whole day at a theme park. “I can see it as a very viable idea to have an attraction like this on I-Drive,” Weishar said. The International Drive Pedestrian Bridge is expected to cost more than $35 million. Wallack's new ambitious project accompanies his venture to partner with Orange County to build and speed up the construction of a planned $35.6 million I-Drive pedestrian bridge. The walkway is expected to open by 2030 and will span the intersection of I-Drive and Sand Lake Road — one of the busiest intersections in Central Florida — while connecting to the proposed coaster's area. That intersection also is where Mango’s and the World's Largest Entertainment McDonald's are located. “So, we are continuing down that path with regards to the bridge and with the Mango's project, and we believe that when all is done I-Drive will look like what the two last county mayors intended it to look like — the I-Drive of the future, not the I-Drive of the past,” he said. If both projects are completed — the tourism corridor would dramatically change in image and entertainment offerings, which could help boost visitation-related business.
  9. Several weeks ago I had the chance to experience Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld Orlando for the first time in a number of years. I will admit that I went in with lessened expectations because my previous experience with the event had it falling below the bar set by the event's Tampa and Williamsburg counterparts. And while some of my expectations were met, I will say that I was pleasantly surprised to see some of the event's offerings have matured since my previous visit years ago. The event entrance opened while the sun was still out... The Howl-O-Scream entrance plaza is set up by the education pavilions and serves as a holding area that opens roughly an hour before the event starts. Shopping, bars and light snacks are available while you wait for the horrors inside to be unleashed--though some start roaming in the area before then. This year's icon was Havoc, known as the face of fear. And he makes his debut in a quick pre-show performance in the event entrance plaza. Once inside the park you'll find a number of themed bars in case you need some liquid courage to survive. The Rave Yard was our first house. No that is not a typo. Yes, this house ended up being exactly what you think would be. Clever choice of signage or too on the nose? Entering one of the event's scare zones. What you see is what you get. Though I will never have anything less than immense respect for the United Parks for having crawlers like these camoflagued throughout the parks for incredibly effective scares. Jumping on the Mel's Die-In bandwagon, I see. Dark and ominous... This rejuvenation clinic is more sinister than it lets on. Of all of the houses at this event, this was certainly... One of them. Aliens are unleashed on a rural corn farm... What could possibly go wrong? You exit the house into the Waterway Grill which this year features a laser light show overhead while you can grab a bite or a brew. Self-awareness is key. While I'm no fan of taking a bath in the middle of a haunt event, this was one of the four advertised rides that was supposed to be operating during the event. Did I see a ghost in this scare zone? Maybe. In case your appetite is ripping you up inside. Mako operating with a 5 minute wait is always a pleasant surprise! This was a newer house location for me and presented some great views of Kraken and Mako. One of the better houses of the year. Hello beautiful! Hard to believe this event has been running for five years already. Monster Stomp is back once again. If you've seen Monster Stomp in one Howl-O-Scream across the country, you've seen them all. But the crowd is always pleased. New this year was an added show, Throttle, located near the water's edge in the Sharks realm of the park. They managed to transform this area into a surprisingly effective stage where a set of borderline-risque dancers meet fire, fueled dirt bikes and Havoc himself. The dancers perform in and around the crowd... And there are motorcycles doing tricks. It doesn't make a lot of sense but in a weird way, it kind of works. Don't forget the fire! Wreaking Havoc throughout the crowd. More pyro to close out the show! Remember how I mentioned options for liquid courage? There's a lot of them at this event. They have stilt walkers too. I will always consider the event's inclusion of this booth to be a... Choice. The most fleshed out scare zone of them all. Just a taste of what you'd experience here. This scare zone was a great place to be headed. Any way you slice or dice it, you could come out a head. This one gave Night Maze a run for its money. Horror, mirrors, fog and darkness just work well together. Oh and night rides on Pipeline were a walk-on. This is one stand-up experience. This was a booth. They had edible offerings to consume. The last and arguably my favorite of the event's scare zones was the Blood Light District. Yes, it is exactly what you think it is. Overall we had a fun time at the event. While Howl-O-Scream will never be the one you go to for movie-set quality immersion or even the most technical of effects, it does manage to have more raw, effective thrills than I find at some of the better-budgeted attractions down the street. Staffing continues to be the greatest challenge where these houses and scare zones could be even more effective if only they had more scare actors. That said, what we experienced this year was a far more mature event than that of previous years. Still plenty of room to grow, but the added entertainment and some really clever scare zones (like the one above) made this feel like they're headed in the right direction for making gains year over year. Howl-O-Scream Orlando 2025 was shockingly fun.

  11. The Indianapolis Zoo has announced that it will be removing the Skyline and the Kōmbo family roller coaster in 2026 to make way for new animal experiences. Skyline was a unique, 8-minute long aerial ride that interacted with the park's orangutan habitat while placing riders in gondolas suspending beneath a powered track. https://www.indystar.com/story/news/2025/11/19/indianapolis-zoo-to-remove-roller-coaster-sky-tram-next-year/87346262007/# (Photos courtesy of the Indianapolis Zoo.) Two Indianapolis Zoo rides will be removed to make room for new exhibits next year. The zoo will dismantle the Kōmbo Family Coaster and the Skyline overhead tram in the first quarter of 2026 to clear the way for new attractions, the Indianapolis Business Journal first reported. This plan will free up more than an acre of space for animal exhibits. The Kōmbo coaster, which reaches speeds of 21 miles an hour on a 600-foot-long track, was constructed in 2000. The skyline, a gondola-style tram that offers aerial tours of animal exhibits, opened in 2014.The Skyline has experienced its share of mechanical issues over its years of operation. In 2014, two cars stopped mid-ride and suspended 18 passengers until the Indianapolis Fire Department could evacuate them, leading to the Skyline's closure for the rest of the year. Two incidents in 2015 and one in 2017 also led to calls to the fire department to evacuate passengers, according to past IndyStar reporting. The zoo’s Board of Trustees agreed that the attractions were outdated and voted to remove them next year. “With unanimous Board approval, the Indianapolis Zoo will remove both the skyline and the rollercoaster, opening significant space for new or expanded animal exhibits,” the zoo said in a statement. “Work is planned to begin in Q1 2026 to remove the rides, which no longer align with the mission of the Zoo or the long-term plans for our campus.” The Indianapolis Zoo does not receive government funding and instead relies on donations, ticket sales, membership fees and other revenue streams to drive its operations. Its most recent new exhibit is the Chimpanzee Complex that opened in May 2024, which includes three habitat spaces connected by an overhead trail for the chimpanzees to use. It’s unclear what projects will take the place of the coaster and the skyline, though the zoo’s statement references expanded animal exhibits. The zoo did not mention any plans that would change its Endangered Species Carousel or the White River Junction Train.
  12. Six Flags Qiddiya City is set to officially open to the public on December 31st, 2025. The park will open with a number of coasters including Falcons Flight, Iron Rattler and Spitfire, all of which break records in their respective categories. https://www.arabnews.com/node/2622828/business-economy Saudi Arabia will open its first Six Flags theme park on Dec. 31, 2025, as Qiddiya City accelerates efforts to position itself as a major regional hub for entertainment, sports, and culture. The park — the first Six Flags outside North America — forms part of Qiddiya Investment Co.’s flagship development on the outskirts of Riyadh. Located in the Tuwaiq Mountains about 40 minutes from the capital, Qiddiya City is being marketed as a master-planned destination built around the company’s “Power of Play” strategy, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Qiddiya is central to Saudi Arabia’s transformation strategy under Vision 2030, with the Kingdom targeting up to 150 million visitors annually by 2030 as the nation moves beyond oil-led growth. Brian Machamer, president of Six Flags Qiddiya City, said: “Six Flags Qiddiya City not only opens its door to the public for the first time, it starts to showcase everything Qiddiya City stands for: bold imagination, unforgettable experiences, and a new benchmark for global entertainment.” Six Flags Qiddiya City will feature 28 rides, including several promoted as record-breakers: the Falcons Flight roller coaster, billed as the world’s tallest, fastest and longest; the Iron Rattler, described as the world’s tallest tilt coaster; and Spitfire, marketed as the world’s tallest inverted coaster. The park also includes 18 family-oriented rides, as well as international dining outlets and retail stores offering exclusive Six Flags merchandise. Qiddiya City is expected to eventually feature hundreds of attractions, along with residential, retail, office, hospitality, healthcare and educational facilities in a large-scale, mixed-use district. The development is a key part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to expand its tourism sector and diversify its economy beyond oil. The theme park will open daily at 4 p.m., with complimentary shuttles connecting visitors from designated parking areas and from Jeddah Metro Station, where services will begin at 3 p.m. All shuttle services are accessible for guests with disabilities. Tickets will start at SR325 ($87) for adults and SR275 for children, while infants under four will be admitted free. Visitors will have the option to purchase an Unlimited GoFast Pass for priority access to selected rides. Discounted tickets for people with special needs, senior citizens and companions will be sold exclusively at the park, starting from SR75.

The theme park will open in 2026 in Frisco, Texas. Universal Kids Resort will feature seven themed lands including DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar and the Isle of Curiosity. “When creating Universal Kids Resort, we leaned into that childlike curiosity and invited play to be our guide,” said Molly Murphy, President of Universal Creative. “Every detail was designed through a child’s eyes from signs at their height to colors that invite them in. The result is a park that celebrates the joy of being a kid — where imagination isn’t just encouraged, it’s embedded in every attraction, space, and experience.” Jurassic World Adventure Camp At Jurassic World Adventure Camp, the curious Ankylosaurus, Bumpy, has gone missing, so families will zoom through twists, turns, peaks and valleys on Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster to help find her. Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin will take families on a twisting and turning journey. Kids and their grown-ups can also enjoy the Pteranodrop, an exciting ride that gives brave adventurers a bird’s eye view of the park from high above. The Jurassic World Canteen will help tame T. rex-sized appetites for carnivores and herbivores alike. Jurassic World Outfitters will offer families the chance to gear up for some dinosaur-sized adventures with toys, accessories and more. Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom Jellyfish Fields Jamboree will be a vibrant attraction where kids and their families hop aboard their very own Jelly Angler to bounce around with the one and only SpongeBob SquarePants. Barnacle Bus will showcase Bikini Bottom’s sights and residents while Bobbing Barrels will feature water cannons for families to blast water at each other as they spin around. Of course, no day would be complete in Bikini Bottom without a boating lesson, so Mrs. Puff’s Boating School will have the class taking a spin through her specially designed course. Then for hungry Bikini Bottom visitors, Goofy Goober’s will offer guests chicken sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and sky-high sundaes. A sunken wooden treasure chest will be the home of Barg’N-Mart for all the nautical nonsense anyone could wish for, including sunny day apparel, toys, plush and more. With opportunities to meet SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks, explore Mussel Beach for some rest and more, it’ll be the best day ever. DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp The attraction Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After will take kids and their families on a special ride through the story of how Shrek met Fiona. Built by Shrek for their triplets, families will ride along to relive the quest to rescue Princess Fiona, with help from Donkey of course. For ogre-sized appetites, Shrek’s triplets’ favorite eats will be served at Swamp Snacks including the Shrekzel. For swamp apparel, accessories and plush for the whole family, Triplets Treasures will allow parents to shop for themselves along with matching and complementary outfits for their growing ogres. Kids and their grown-ups will also have a chance to meet Shrek and Fiona. Two interactive play areas, Shrek’s Swamp Rompin’ Stomp and Shrek’s Swamp Splash & Smash, will allow kids to stomp and/or splash away. Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club Next, guests step into the mayhem of a spirited water battle, full of unexpected surprises that only Illumination’s iconic Minions can deliver. Grab a water blaster and join the action. A game of golf and a boat cruise are far from relaxing at the Minions Bello Bay Club. Find yourself in the splash zone on the Bello Bay Cruise as you witness the antics between the Yellow Minions and their Purple counterparts. Then, take the wheel and hold on tight as the competition spins out of control at the Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby. Choose your side with pride by visiting Bello Bay Boutique and fashion yourself with Team Yellow, Team Purple, and other themed merchandise. And after all that mischief, you can recharge at Bello Bay Bites with some tasty Minion-themed snacks. Capture the fun with photos at the Minion meet and greet, discover playful Minion moments, and experience surprising water features at Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club. DreamWorks’ TrollsFest For even more fun, kids and their families can move, giggle and groove at King Trollex Techno Dance Party, an indoor interactive experience, or lead sound check and learn dance moves at a Trolls-themed amphitheater stage show. They can also hop on board Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express to twist and turn through the festival grounds on an armadillo bus ride, and they can soar above TrollsFest on the colorful ride Hair in the Clouds, featuring a mix of flower-faced balloons. Then for TrollsFest food, Trolls Eatz! will serve up a symphony of flavors in family-approved bites. BroZone Cones will offer ice cream from TrollsFest’s coolest boy band. To get ready to take center stage, Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow will offer the unique Troll-ify Me! experience, the ultimate Trolls makeover for kids’ and grown-ups’ hair to be in the clouds and their sparkles to be loud via headbands, apparel, make-up and more. For those looking for a more subtle look, Mr. Dinkles’ Market will feature colorful, concert-ready t-shirts, souvenirs and more. Families can also meet Poppy, Branch and the rest of the DreamWorks’ Trolls gang, and two interactive play areas, Poppy’s Playland and Trolls Critter Crawl, will offer good Trolls-fashioned fun. DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar Small heroes unite at DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar where Swings Over Del Mar will have guests flying high. Kids and their families can also enjoy Mama Luna’s Adopt a Kitty Day! where they’ll be able to see Puss in Boots in his greatest adventure yet as he returns to the village of Del Mar for a spectacularly silly puppet performance. For small heroes’ appetites, Comidas y Leche will serve up Puss in Boots’ approved eats. Then, purr-fect apparel awaits in Mercado de Perrito while candies and treats will make Tienda de Dulces the sweetest spot in Del Mar. Families can also meet the fearless hero himself along with Mama Luna, Perrito and friends. In addition to the park’s many play areas, Universal Kids Resort will feature multiple sensory gardens designed to give children and families opportunities to pause, reset, and connect. Isle of Curiosity The Isle of Curiosity will serve as the gateway to the other themed lands at Universal Kids Resort. Gabby’s Cat-Tastic Dance Party! will allow kids and their families to boogie with Gabby from DreamWorks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse. Cakey’s Cupcakes will serve up a variety of cupcakes in chocolate, vanilla and rainbow while the Universal Kids Resort Café will be a colorful spot to fuel up whether it’s sitting down and relaxing or grabbing bites for the road. The flagship Universal Kids Resort Store will be the one-stop-shop for gearing up for the day or finding best-of-the best from each themed land and a variety of merch inspired by Gabby’s Dollhouse to dress the part for their meow-zing adventures ahead. “Universal Kids Resort is a place where kids are accepted just as they are, free to dance, dream, and play without limits or judgment,” said Brian Robinson, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Universal Creative. “For many, it will be the first time the worlds they’ve only seen on screen come vividly to life — moments that ignite creativity, confidence, and joy. It celebrates all the best parts of being a kid, the laughter, the curiosity, the courage to be unapologetically yourself, and in doing so, invites a new generation into the incredible thrills of Universal.” Universal Kids Resort Hotel As a place to stay and relax just steps away from the park, Universal Kids Resort Hotel was designed with families in mind. Rooms will sleep up to five or six guests. Standard Queen, Deluxe Queen and Signature Queen rooms will each offer a twin-over-full bunk bed and a queen bed. Family suites will offer a king bed in a separate bedroom, a queen pullout sofa and a twin-over-twin bunk bed along with an eating area. Curiosity Café will be a quick service restaurant offering hotel guests meals throughout the day. A full-service bar, outdoor pool, fitness room and a game room will round out the hotel amenities. 15. Anakeesta has announced a $100 million investment plan spanning five years that will double the footprint of the Gatlinburg adventure park. Most immediately, the park's chairlift will be replaced with a scenic lift, the Firefly Village will be reimagined, the Treetop Skywalk expanded and a new evening Firefly Experience will be added to the park. Starting in 2027, the park will add new thrill rides and dining options to the park's lineup. https://anakeesta.com/blog/anakeestas-expansion-plans-for-2026-and-2027/ Anakeesta’s Expansion Plans for 2026 and 2027 Anakeesta is excited to announce Making More Magic—a $100-million investment we’ll be making in our park over the next five years. This expansion is the largest in the adventure park’s history, and guests can start experiencing some of our first major changes in early 2026. If you’re interested in visiting the park soon or want to know more about our plans for the park, check out our overview of Anakeesta’s planned expansions for 2026 and what these expansions will mean for visitors. 5 Changes Coming to Anakeesta During Our $100 Million Expansion Throughout the five-year project, Anakeesta will double its footprint, adding new themed villages, dining and retail experiences, and thrilling attractions. In 2026, the first of these expansions will be implemented, with a new scenic lift, a reimagining of Firefly Village, an expanded Treetop Skywalk, and an enchanting nighttime firefly light show experience. Find out more about Anakeesta’s plans for expansion in 2026 and 2027 below: 1. Next Generation Scenic Lift (Spring 2026) Since it opened in 2017, our original Chondola has done a wonderful job carrying millions of guests to Anakeesta. However, with more guests than ever visiting Anakeesta in 2025, we decided it was time to provide an even better riding experience. Our brand-new lift will feature 56 cabins with glass bottoms and large wraparound windows, giving riders 360-degree views of the Great Smoky Mountains on the ride up to the park. During the four-minute ride, you can expect to see downtown Gatlinburg’s skyline, lush Smoky Mountain forests, and native wildlife. Each cabin has seating for six guests to make it easy for families and large groups to stay together. Before the new lift opens in early May, you can take the Ridge Rambler, a large adventure truck, from the base of the park to Black Bear Village in just a few minutes. 2. Firefly Village Reimagined (Spring 2026) Alongside upgrading our lifts, we’ll be reimagining Firefly Village to create an even more beautiful, whimsical environment that inspires connection. We expect the upgrades to be completed by Spring of 2026. Some of our top additions will include thoughtfully designed gathering spaces, winding pathways, and flowing water features. We’re also building a brand-new overlook that will give our guests another location to take in breathtaking mountain views of Gatlinburg. 3. Treetop Skywalk Elevated (Spring 2026) Already the longest tree-based skywalk in North America, we’ll be elevating our Treetop Skywalk experience in the Spring of 2026. When you visit our reimagined Treetop Skywalk, you can expect to find expanded bridges, winding canopy pathways, and soaring towers. With a variety of new vantage points to view the forest, it’ll be easier than ever to immerse yourself in nature and connect with what makes the Smoky Mountains so special. 4. Firefly Experience (Fall 2026) For around two weeks every year, the Great Smoky Mountains light up with fireflies synchronizing their flash patterns. In our expansion, we wanted to bring this experience to our visitors year-round, paying homage to the fireflies our Firefly Village is named after. Our new Firefly Experience will include state-of-the-art lighting features that mimics the fireflies’ synchronous glow. Year-round, you can marvel at a dance of light that combines storytelling, nature’s beauty, and unforgettable light displays. 5. Phase 2: Thrills and Flavors on the Mountain (Begins in 2027) After all of our Phase 1 expansions are completed in 2026, we’ll be ready to move on to Phase 2 of our Making More Magic expansion. During Phase 2, we’ll be performing even more comprehensive upgrades to the park, solidifying Anakeesta as a must-see experience in Gatlinburg. Some highlights from Phase 2 include new dining options and thrilling rides. These changes will give thrill-seekers more rides to enjoy while also making it easy for families to take it easy when they want to move at a slower pace! What to Know About Visiting During Construction While our park will be closed starting January 5, 2026, it will reopen shortly after, in March of 2026. After we reopen in March, the Ridge Rambler will take visitors up to the park until the new lift opens in May. Otherwise, the logistics of visiting Anakeesta won’t change much during the ongoing expansion. What Visitors Should Know About Anakeesta’s Upcoming Expansion Have questions about Anakeesta’s Making More Magic expansion? Check out our answers to potential questions you might have about it: When Will Anakeesta Be Closed for Construction? Anakeesta will be closed from January 5, 2026, to early March 2026. When Does Construction Start on the New Lift? Construction on our new scenic lift starts in November 2025, with the expectation that it will be completed by Spring 2026. Though site prep for the new lift starts in November, the park will remain open through January 4 before closing for construction starting on the fifth. How Will Guests Get to the Park Before the New Lift Opens? Before the new lift opens, our Ridge Rambler will drive visitors from the base of the park to Black Bear Village. When Will the New Lift Be Ready for Riders? We expect the new lift to debut in the Spring of 2026. What Is Different About the New Scenic Lift? The new scenic lifts offer more cabins (56 in total), more seating (six guests per cabin), and faster speeds (you’ll reach the top in four minutes!). The glass floors and expansive windows will give riders even better views than they could receive on the original Chondola. What’s Changing in Firefly Village? In 2026, Firefly Village will add whimsical pathways, water features, a new overlook, and many places to linger as part of a reimagining of the classic village. What’s New on the Treetop Skywalk? We’ll be adding new bridges, towers, and canopy pathways to Treetop Skywalk to give visitors more immersive viewpoints. What Is the Firefly Experience? The Firefly Experience is an immersive, year-round lighting experience inspired by synchronous fireflies that will be located on our Treetop Skywalk. What Arrives in Phase 2? Starting in 2027, we’ll be upgrading the park with new thrill rides, dining experiences, and additional attractions. 18. Walt Disney World has shared details about several of their upcoming animatronics coming to the parks including updates to the animatronics found in Frozen Ever After! https://disneyparksblog.com/wdw/new-updates-to-audio-animatronics-figures-at-walt-disney-world/ For more than seven decades, Walt Disney Imagineering has brought beloved stories and characters off the screen and into reality through the revolutionary innovations of Audio-Animatronics figures. From classic attractions to brand-new adventures, these incredible creations are part of the fabric of iconic Disney storytelling that keeps guests coming back year after year. There’s always something new to inspire. As we continue to invest in new and well-loved experiences, there are even more Audio-Animatronics figures updates on the way to Walt Disney World Resort! Zootopia: Better Zoogether! Starting at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, get ready to clap your paws and click your claws when Zootopia: Better Zoogether! opens on November 7 in the iconic Tree of Life Theater. It’s a “4D” show you won’t want to miss, as the residents of Zootopia are gearing up for Zoogether Day, a citywide celebration. On this special day, all kinds of animals join together with performances from many of the diverse biomes that make up the city. In Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, the Tree of Life Theater is the epicenter of Zoogether Day with fast-talking, loud-howling wolf host Heidi Howler presenting a watch party where the audience of mammals big and small will catch all the festivities via livestream. I hope you’re ready to join in the fun, because we’re all invited to join the audience too! Thanks to the special “Carrot Vision” glasses we’ll wear as part of the watch party experience, some of your favorite characters from Zootopia and Zootopia 2 will “jump” off the screen … except for Gazelle’s number one fan and off-duty ZPD officer. That’s right, Benjamin Clawhauser himself will be in the theater with us, in the form of an all-new Audio-Animatronics figure. When we met Clawhauser in Zootopia, he was sporting his ZPD uniform (and sometimes a tasty donut, too). At the Zoogether Day watch party, he’ll be decked out from head to tail with a brand-new look: glow necklaces and his favorite, glittery Gazelle tee shirt. This larger-than-life fan wants nothing more than to be picked as the V.I.Z. (Very Important Zootopian – the lucky mammal who will get special access to the Zoogether Day performers). And when that doesn’t work out, he has to take matters into his own paws. Frozen Ever After at EPCOT In the heart of the Norway pavilion at EPCOT, Frozen fanatics have been sailing through the story of Princess Anna and Queen Elsa on Frozen Ever After since it debuted in 2016. It is full of Audio-Animatronics figures – from Sven and Kristoff, an ice-skating Olaf, Marshmallow and a whole herd of Snowgies, and of course, Anna and Elsa. Many of these figures were groundbreaking in the world of Audio-Animatronics – not just as part of the first Frozen attraction, but also as the first attraction to have all electric Audio-Animatronics figures, and the first to combine electric motors and 3D printing. That’s a lot of firsts! To build the attraction and make it feel like the enchanted Frozen story, it all came down to one wrist. Elsa is known for her magical, ice-forming hand gestures; for her Audio-Animatronics figure to handle the fluid movements just like Elsa does on screen, Imagineers needed enough space to run cables and motors down her arms and hands. They figured out how big Elsa’s wrist needed to be and scaled everything else in the attraction to match. Since then, Walt Disney Imagineering couldn’t “let it go” (sorry, I had to) and has built upon that very technology of all-electric motors, 3D printing, and scaling for every figure they produce – from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World and Disneyland, to Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival at Tokyo DisneySea, and World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland. And, in a full circle moment of innovation, the Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff Audio-Animatronics figures will soon receive new updates after ten years of delighting fans in Frozen Ever After. Taking inspiration from the advancements seen in figures at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland, the Frozen Ever After figures will face the future of Audio-Animatronics (see what I did there?) Early next year, this investment will bring a more true-to-film look for these beloved characters. Just looking at the photos from Hong Kong Disneyland, I can tell we’re in for a treat here at Walt Disney World! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Opening Summer 2026! At Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, you bet we’ll have rock as we roll across Hollywood on a wild ride with the Electric Mayhem – complete with backstage chaos, high-speed thrills, that signature Muppet humor… and an all-new Muppet Audio-Animatronics figure. Side by side with a dedicated team of penguin audio engineers, Scooter, in his capacity as band manager, will be trying hard to convince the Electric Mayhem to stop laying down tracks so they won’t be late to their own concert. This will be the first time Scooter has ever been imagined as an Audio-Animatronics figure, and I hear he might not be the only Muppet Audio-Animatronics figure joining the attraction… but we’ll have to wait to learn more about that. And if you’d like to paper that psychedelically sweet poster everywhere, you’re in luck – The Muppets have a downloadable wallpaper here for you to add some rock ‘n’ roll to your desktop: Right-click (or control+click) the image above to save to your desktop. Now, I can imagine you’re ready to go pedal to the metal and experience the high-speed hijinks of The Muppets in this latest story. Well, the wait will be over before you know it: Get ready to rock out when Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets speeds into Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2026! Audio-Animatronics Figures Through the Years All this excitement about Audio-Animatronics figures to come is the next chapter in a long, iconic story that dates all the way back to Walt Disney himself. He discovered an antique mechanical singing bird in New Orleans, and after returning to California, tasked Imagineers to learn how the little bird worked. His curiosity and the talents of his Imagineers laid the groundwork for future Audio-Animatronics figures. The first-generation of Audio-Animatronics figures, known as the A-1, debuted in the 1960s at Disneyland in attractions like Jungle Cruise, Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland, and Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room that featured over 200 singing birds. The technology and artistry of Audio-Animatronics figures didn’t stop there: Next came the world’s first fully animated human figure in Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, which debuted at the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. Then, the debut of the A-100 figure in 1989. Fast forward a few decades and hundreds of innovations later, Imagineers introduced one of the most sophisticated figures in 2017 with the Shaman of Songs in Na’vi River Journey in Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019 at Walt Disney World and Disneyland, it marked another huge advancement in technology with the introduction of the A-1000 figure, boasting enhancements in range, speed, and overall performance. And the latest figure has a special place in our company’s history… “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” features for the first time an Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt, advancing a technology he pioneered 60 years ago with Abraham Lincoln at the 1964 New York World’s Fair. This special homage opened July 17, 2025 as part of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration. And – as recently announced at Destination D23 – we will soon be able to see Walt Disney through the magic of Audio-Animatronics technology at “Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress” at Walt Disney World. The desire to captivate, immerse, and entertain is woven into the fabric of Disney’s DNA, and the development of the Audio-Animatronics figure is proof of our goal to always do more and deliver more for our guests. Each new figure builds on the legacy of time, talent, and skill of generations of Imagineers. We continue to invest in this technology because – as someone we all know once said – we keep moving forward. I, for one, can’t wait to see the stories these new Audio-Animatronics figures will tell! Interested in learning even more about our iconic figures and the tech that makes them tick? Take a deeper look in the We Call It Imagineering Audio-Animatronics episode.

"As you swing, you won't just see the sky, you'll hang with it," said Julie Freed, Lagoon's director of special events. Riders will fly up nearly 150 feet above the ground, putting them at the same height as the Sky Coaster, according to Freed. Lagoon has partnered with industry leaders to bring this vision to life. S&S Worldwide is responsible for the ride's innovation and fabrication, Big D Construction is building the foundations and support structure and 3dxScenic is crafting the Nutcracker icon, the amusement park said. Seating 1,200 passengers per hour, the ride features g-forces "greater than an astronaut's launch," according to a park press release. "Next year, a 50-foot Nutcracker icon will proudly stand guard, ready to welcome every guest to join the fun. The best part, this icon will be dwarfed by the sheer size of the ride itself," Freed said At its most dynamic swing height of 135 feet, the Nutcracker will come in just short of the Cannibal's tallest loop at 140 feet. Shane Dustman is a frequent Lagoon visitor and pass holder. The ride enthusiast shared his excitement about the working relationship between Lagoon and S&S Worldwide. "They (Lagoon) worked with S&S in the past ... they did the Rocket with S&S, so I knew it was a swing," Dustman said. When comparing the Nutcracker to other swing rides at Lagoon, such as Tidal Wave, Dustman said, "This one is way bigger — about the same size as the Twizzling Twister at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania." Masen Curtis and Mei Gregory are high school students who visit Lagoon frequently. "I'm actually really excited for the new ride. I think it's a new opportunity for people to get more excited about Lagoon, especially since they've been making new rides. For people who like more extreme rides, it's going to be more fun, because I feel like that's what Lagoon is going for," Curtis said. "I go to Lagoon basically every year," said Gregory. "I've been so many times I know it's like the back of my hand." "My favorite ride by far is Wicked. I also really like Samurai. It's a classic. For the new ride, that looks freaking awesome, I am so excited," she said. Celebrating 139 years of family fun this year, the amusement park has been Utah's only amusement park for well over a century. The park features 55 rides, a water park and other features that make it a unique experience for attendees. Lagoon's newest ride is part of the park's ongoing commitment to refreshing the visitor experience and offering more extreme attractions, park officials said. As excitement grows, fans such as Curtis and Gregory are already planning to be among the first to experience the latest thrill. The Nutcracker is the first new ride at Lagoon in three years. The park introduced Primordial, a fantasy-themed roller coaster, in 2023. Lagoon has also announced the retirement of Jet Star II, the park's classic Schwarzkopf coaster at the end of the 2025 season. To give guests a chance to give the ride its final farewell, the park has added two bonus weekends to its operation. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1209930647827008&id=100064302537105&mibextid=wwXIfr&rdid=xbEnG2wwmZKNA0dv# ONE LAST RIDE: Jet Star 2’s Final Countdown!
