^Maybe its just me, but I think it is a major assumption to presume that Busch Gardens (or SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment) has any specific preferences in their choice of ride type/development. Sure, you can make generalizations based on some historical patterns, but I wouldn't count anything out until an official press release is put out. In terms of the idea of clones or copies in the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment chain, there are many to be had. Plenty of the flat rides in the park are off-the-shelf models with slight theming adjustments to make them fit into the surrounding areas. Their 4-D movies have been shared throughout many of their parks, indicating a cloning procedure here. I guess my best three examples, specifically for Busch Gardens Tampa Bay would be the inclusion of Python, Scorpion and Cheetah Chase in their lineup. All three rides have sister models around the world (the third of these has a huge number of copies) and up until Python's removal, all three were featured prominently in the park's marketing. I just think it is a little too easy to claim any single park or chain prefers to be individualistic in their design and development of new attractions, but the bottom line is that (in most cases), if a ride doesn't have a complete carbon copy somewhere else, some of its elements have to have been borrowed to make the basis of the new attraction. With that logic, any coaster with a lift hill or launch when compared to another coaster of the same type would be cloning some material from the original or previous model. For better or for worse, the development of new attractions is often contingent on the ground already trodden by those that have come before. The utilization of proven systems allows developers to innovate in new areas without reinventing the wheel by starting from scratch each time.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has sent us a new press release about the return of the Pretzel Coaster Contest. I don't know about you all, but it looks like I'm going to be busting out the pretzels to give this contest a try. After my last visit to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, I've been waiting patiently to return.

^^In life,a person's fame is measured by their Light Emitting Diode collection, their personal website's FAQ and how many Hawaiian shirts they own when compared to John Lasseter. And yes, we took that photo just for you. -

This amazing set of updates (and recap of my incredible sense of humor) is deserving of a change in my signature... ~Adam "Slab" Roth~ -
On Friday I went back to Islands of Adventure to check up on the latest progress and, as has been with my last few visits, even more visible work has been completed since my previous trip. One of the walls near the greenhouse has been replaced with a slightly themed wall. A closer look... The greenhouse has been given an aged and dirtied look as well as some queue line fencing. Potted plants can be seen hanging from the rafters of the greenhouse. Construction workers could be seen inspecting the area... Taken with uber-zoom in the Jurassic Park smoking area. Additional switchbacks have been added to the side of the greenhouse. Over in the line for Dueling Dragons, not too much has changed externally. I'm gunna take a wild guess and say that this will be an attraction sign for Dragon Challenge. A clearer look at the flag structure at the new entrance to Dragon Challenge. The entrance and drawbridge look far less menacing than they used to. One more look at the castle detailing now that the tarps are down entirely... I was sent down this hall last week to get to the ride... Now guests are directed into another section of the old queue... And this one has been stripped of the old theming too. You can tell something used to be here. There was definitely something here before too. It looks like the only change here is that the view behind the bars has been covered up... Nothing changed here. Detailing work on Hogwarts has essentially wrapped up. Flight of the Hippogriff has been completed as well. What's this? Vegetation has been added to the Hogwarts rock work. An overview of this side of Hogsmeade... And a random ladder... The restaurant's chefs could be seen exploring the balcony area. Its not to say that I don't like the look of Hogsmeade, but I certainly miss the view of the Enchanted Oak Tavern. Speaking of the Enchanted Oak, here are the rethemed remains of the former quick service location. I guess we're getting closer to the date that this gate will open for soft previews... I'm sure you've seen this sign in pictures too many times already. Thanks to the uber-zoom, we can see the winged hogs near Hogwarts. Here's another look at the new statues to close this report.
