  1. I kind of like seeing some of the curves of B&Ms and Intamins and Gerstlauers close up, but I'm always a sucker for brakes (and other technical things that have to do with brakes ie. proximity switches), ESPECIALLY B&M brakes. If you took some pictures like this, I might like your pictures even more!
  2. It definitely wont be the best coaster ever created, but I'm sure it'll be better than MF. Heck, chasing a squirrel might be more fun than riding that drawn-out overrated piece of mediocrity.
  3. I never said that these parts were rough, I simply stated that they were poorly shaped, possibly causing excess stress. My pictures might not be correct, but my main point that CCI and GG rides are designed in such a way that excess stress occurs throughout the ride causing an extra amount of maintenance and roughness is true.
  4. Would you care to flesh this out a bit? Voyage, Hades, and Ravine Flyer II all use steel structures. How would Gravity Group's woodie designs be too hard on steel compared to the much more extreme drops, speeds, and elements that steel coasters have? The steel structure doesn't have anything to do with the transitions and shaping of the rides that tear the track apart. Let's think about boss. This turn at the bottom of the hill is just brutal. It has little banking and pulls around two lateral Gs. The track is just not meant to have that kind of force applied to it in the way that it is here. The trains have torn the track apart here and not even retracking can help. The same goes for every turn around the bottom of this drop. A steel structure wouldn't help here, the wood track is getting beaten to pieces no matter what the structure type, though I suppose a steel structure might help a bit. And things didn't change when CCI formed into GG. Small transitions are still everywhere (bottom right) and banking and shaping is still a problem.
  5. That's odd, I just checked and it's working fine for me. I just updated it too.
  6. ^I was referring more to CCI rides having little banking. I guess GG did fix that problem, but their transitions and shaping are still something that just shouldn't be done, it's way to hard on everything (trains, track, structure).
  7. Sounds to me like GG is having the same problems with their rides that they did when they were CCI. Small transitions, little banking, and bad trains tear the track to pieces. Some people never learn.
  8. Disaster Transport and Mantis. Everyone claims that DT sucks, but I thought it was pure fun. Mantis was great too, just ride in the front and leave room for your junk.
  9. ^Aha thank you, I missed out on the bottom part of yesterday's entries.
  10. Any updates on EK? The weather here has been BEAUTIFUL the last few days, I'm sure that they were able to make a lot of progress.
  11. I just voted a couple days ago. I normally would have just skipped it like every year for two reasons: -I've only ridden 5 woodies -I can never figure it out but I decided to do it this year for two more: -This poll is a good one and my results can be used -Ted's applet made it easy for me So I just want to thank Robb, Ted, and of course Mitch for allowing my vote to count.
  12. What a fun application! I got only 3km from SFStL, 18 from SFMM, 8 from Marineland, and 3 from BGA.
  13. Coasters are my favorite place to have a conversation. I love shouting to my friends about what I did last weekend or about the weather while traveling at 70 mph. It just makes the conversation so much more understandable. C'mon dude, get real. The new trains have some perks (the feeling of being out in the open while more than 20 stories in the air), and some downfalls (less capacity, split groups), but that doesn't make them bad. -Justin "Geez, people need to be more open to new concepts." 14. http://www.rcdb.com/ig1005.htm?picture=8 Not too shabby.
  15. I'm pretty sure that she said she acted on impulse and didn't use her head. I'm thinking the conversation should be over. As far as the ride goes, it's good to hear that Disney is willing to spend the money to keep their rides in top condition.
  16. I'm pretty sure Mr. Freeze got at least a partial paint job sometime recently. When I went in August the top hat looked nice but the bottom looked crappy: crappy bottom in fact you can actually see the different paint jobs on the supports in the foreground in this pic beautiful top hat
  17. It did look pretty sweet in red and white at Expo! http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2462773160064924833ukSmsc And I wouldn't mind them going back to that scheme. Any new paint is better than what's on it now. I would really like it if they painted the track red and made the supports black. Then they could go back to white trains and it would look SWEET.
  18. Ninja at SFStL. The black is wearing off and the red is showing through. It looks pretty horrible. The entire track looks similar to this. Nuff said.
  19. It looks odd because it is heartlined.
  20. That's definitely not Tom's Twister. If I remember correctly Tom's was brown and red.
  21. Aha! I thought it looked extremely odd and then when you said this I remembered and you are correct. I've made similar drops in no limits and I can say for sure that's why it looks odd.
  22. This actually surprised me. They marketed Patriot as new for the 2007 season, I'm not so sure that they can do it again for 2008. They barely got me there last year, and with SFStL adding something new for 2008, I think I'd rather just go there. I wish they would at least get a new show or a new flat or SOMETHING. Another year of absolutely nothing is going to hurt them.
  23. Heck, that looks like pretty much any and every park I've ever seen!

  25. I actually like this style WAY more than Nitro's style.
