Weird roller coasters.
CP_RULES replied to Rct3man777's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To me, it's #3 for roughest coaster I've been on. For me, number 1 is Beast. 2 is Texas Giant, 4 and 5 are the Ninjas (at SFOG and SFStL). I haven't ever done Manahatten Express, and probably never will. If Ninja at SFStL is the 5th roughest coaster you've ridden then you need to either grow some balls or get out more. Ninja may be rough, but come on its not that bad. -Justin "Rode Ninja 5 times in a row on Friday with no headache" Seabaugh -

I think this coaster deserves a nice "WTF?". -
PTR: Clementon Park 6/22/08

You think this park is cheap? The price of their season pass is about $5 more than I paid for my Six Flags season pass which gets me into ALL of the Six Flags parks... -Justin "I wouldn't pay that much to get into a park with one coaster" Seabaugh -
Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
CP_RULES replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was there today. The short version says this ride is VERY smooth, has plenty of airtime, tons of laterals, and is really fun! Full written out review later when I'm not worn out from a full day at the park. -
Not that I think this is worthy of a topic, but since there is one I will say that I think it looks incredibly stupid, washed out, and boring; yet easier to navigate (slightly).

I personally think this looks REALLY fun. At first I thought it looked dumb, but after seeing the POV I can imagine it being really surprisingly fun. And on the functionality thing, it doesnt look too bad to me. Arrow Suspendeds use suspension on their trains and they dont have insane maitenance costs. -
Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
CP_RULES replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not going to say this wont be fun, but I will say it looks painful! It has some REALLY screwed up trackwork, and we all know how S&S is with their "out of the box" ideas and how they usually end up working out (Screamin Squirrels/Dodonpa)... That doesn't mean it wont be fun though, I'm not one to not like a coaster just because it's rough. Maybe I can get up to IB sometime soon to give this baby a ride and pass some real judgement. -Justin "Trying to stay as neutral as possible" Seabaugh -
Thanks for all of the advice everyone, especially savethewhales for that link. Driving on highways or really any road isnt a problem for me, so that wasnt really the issue. The issue with going two days was having to drive back and fourth twice which would waste a lot of gas, even if I do get 40mpg on the highway. That two for the price of one thing might help though. Maybe I'll just get that thing and then got to CC just one day and decide if I want to buy another ticket to go two. Thanks again for all the help.

So I've finally decided after living 16 years right here in good 'ol Missouri to make it down to Branson for Silver Dollar City and Celebration city. Now here's some background- My friend and I have some friends in Joplin and we plan on going down to Joplin from July 7-11. We plan on going to SDC/CC for at least one day (preferably two) during that week but I have a few questions. Now I really prefer to enjoy parks, and I'm definitely NOT one of those credit dudes that goes to a park just to get all the credits as fast as possible and get out. Keep that in mind if you're going to try to help me. Here are my questions- About how far is Branson from Joplin? Is it an easy drive or will it be a bunch of little windy 40mph roads? What day would be the least crowded at the parks during the week of Monday, July 7th to Friday, July 11th? Now I'm only 16, so I'll have to drive to Branson in the morning from Joplin, then back to Joplin afterwards since 16 isnt old enough to get a hotel room. On the days I plan on going, SDC is open 9:30-7, and CC is open 3-10. Will I have enough time to enjoy both parks in one day? Or should I go for two days? Will it be worth it to drive that far twice for the parks? Is the 3day park hopper pass worth it for $99 even if I'm only going for 2 days just so I can go back and fourth as I please to both parks? Another possibility I was thinking if I was going to go for two days besides the park hopper thing would be to just buy two separate tickets and use one on one day and one on the other. As you can see I'm just pretty confused about the whole thing, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll probably add on to my queries later. Thanks! -Justin Seabaugh

Can't tell if there was sarcasm there or not, but well done meat has just as much of a chance of having ecoli as medium or medium rare meat. It's not how long you cook it that affects it, it's how hot it gets. -
no woodie at BGE..why?
CP_RULES replied to cathyJ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not too noisy? Didn't Balder have to get giant walls put up to reduce the horrible noise it was making? I'm pretty sure prefabs scream loudly and obnoxiously anytime airtime is present, often referred to as the Intamin fart. -

I've noticed that's how most trims are working nowadays. The new trims on Timber Wolf have this. It makes sense to me, just making sure the ride runs the speed it's supposed to. -
Maverick Or Top Thrill Dragster?
CP_RULES replied to thrillrideseeker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't even see this as a competition. TBH, last time I rode TTD I found it to be completely boring, offering me no thrill at all. And since it's a ride built completely on that "thrill factor" and not really a "fun factor," I got off thinking that I had just wasted 30 mins of my life. TTD is definitely something that is great the first time around, but once you're over the launch it's pretty boring and, to be blunt, a pointless waste of time and energy. Maverick on the other hand is a masterpiece. Not only does it have that insane "thrill factor," but it also has the "fun factor." It's perfectly smooth (I wont even try to argue with the pansies who call it rough... a drive down the highway is equally turbulent), it has a launch, a lift, inversions, airtime, and some insane forces. It pretty much combines all of the best parts of all of the best coasters in the world and puts them in one awesome ride. I could go on longer about how awesome Maverick is, but I think I'd just bore everyone. You get the point. MAVERICK FTW! -

They did the first Maverick rides a lot differently. They made it sort of a game where if you found an employee wearing a golden ticket (or something of the sort) and then you said some magic words you would get to be on the first ride. -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!

Holy crap! That norloop is going to have loads of awesome hangtime. Hersheypark is definitely in my top parks to visit. -
Is this a real chess board or a prop where the pieces are glued down? Seems like it'd be hard to keep it all in place during the ride.

CL420 beat me to it, I was going to explain using NL as well. -
If you want credits and more "hardcore" rides then go to SFGAm. If you want a very nice family environment with some great, but not nearly as spectacular rides (but still really fun!), then go to SFStL. SFStL is probably one of the most underrated parks in the chain, and it's definitely worth a visit, but it just doesn't stand up to a more "high end" SF park like SFGAm in terms of rides.

Looks to be flying through the course a lot faster than I thought it would! Airtime anyone? Im sure it will have plenty. -

Maybe they were testing with the trims and the MCBR on fairly hard. With so many brakes before the helix, I'm sure they'll be able to get it going faster if they want to.
