Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

^Patriot is actually pretty fun. Mainly "forceless" as far as positives go, but it has quite a bit of airtime for an inverted coaster. Don't expect much more from Banshee... New B&Ms are all pretty much the same in terms of conservative-ness. Awesome picture though, definitely makes SteelHawk look a lot less out of place. -

Sour much? Ten years of tradition shouldn't be wiped out by one bad experience. If you really loved the park, you'd be able to see past a less than 10% failure rate... ESPECIALLY on opening day. -
Or some b-roll of the coaster's chains This is how I read his post at first and I was thinking hmmmm, that would probably be boring for most folks but us enthusiasts would be totally down! Funny you mentioned it. Great to hear Cedar Fair is doing well! Especially Oceans of Fun with Schlitterbahn across the border.

It looks a lot like American Thunder's final hop into the brake run which turns to the right without much banking. If it's anything like American Thunder, there will be a nice toss to the side as you enter the brakes. I have to admit it can be quite strong if you aren't expecting it. These are the best pictures I could find, those who have ridden can attest.

The NL/NL2 Preview Thread

My first legitimate creation in NL2, didn't take all that long to get the hang of the basics. All hand-built... likely more to come. -

Tom's Twister! Still miss that ride, its too bad it closed when Bugs Bunny National Park opened. -

My two favorite colors look so great together on horribly named Goliath at SFFT: -

^^While we enthusiasts may think it would be a horrible addition, a large roller coaster is a necessity at SFStL.With Vekoma's new trains, a heavy rehab, a new paint job, and a nice upgrade to the surrounding area (ala Carolina Cobra) you can't honestly tell me this wouldn't be a welcome addition to the park. Most park-goers at SFStL aren't going to know any different. The lines stack up for all the other clones in the park don't they? (...Mr. Freeze, Batman: The Ride, American Thunder, Pandemonium...) It would be an inexpensive way to liven up the park with a new coaster. Even though I'd despise seeing a relocated boomerang pop up at Six Flags St. Louis, the logical side of me sees why it could be a great business move. -

Can someone clarify for my why exactly we all think the boomerang is coming here BESIDES the screamscape post? I think the boomerang would be a really nice addition to SFStL, even though I personally don't really care about it. Why, though, is everyone convinced it's coming here? -

^A single pink flag could be for almost anything, I wouldn't say any goodbyes just yet. -
Someone is very welcome to correct me if I'm seeing this wrong, but I was under the impression that the concrete slabs were simply done for ease of construction on woodies that are mostly on flat ground (as many GCIs are). One giant slab with steel connecting plates drilled into in a thousand different places is a lot easier to pour than a thousand individual small footers. Anyone care to confirm or refute?

Right? I feel like the part describing the wind blowing the cables away was a little amateur. It would be really unfortunate to be stuck for two hours, though. Makes me wonder exactly what went wrong. -
Hey everybody, I hope this is the best place for this topic, I know there's a lot of artists and photoshop masters on this forum and I need some help! I have finally decided on what my third tattoo should be: a roller coaster loop! I'm looking for a classic arrow style loop with just the track, maybe the two main supports fading out on either side, not sure on that part. It should end shortly after the track crosses over at the bottom. If anyone has got the superpowers required to draw up an epic loop that will forever be on my body, now's your chance to show off! I'm posting from my iPhone so the best example I could find was this: Any help is awesome!

Those aren't magnetic brake fins, those are the brackets that held the old braking mechanisms in place as seen in the bottom left of this photo. Not saying they won't be putting mags in though, because the brakes are clearly gone. -

The way the LIMs are set up only the first two cars are in contact with the LIMs at the beginning of the launch sequence, the train doesn't reach full acceleration until a second or two after it has started launching. At full acceleration you can definitely feel how strong the launch is, but Mr. Freeze has never had that "pop" like many other launched rides have (especially the Intamin rockets or the S&S launched coasters). So I'd have to say whiplash shouldn't be an issue, but I'm sure it will still get a few people to complain. -

^Clearly logic does not prevail. I was merely poking at the other side of the discussion concerning certain angles making the drop appear to be less steep than advertised. Catch my drift? -

Hate to resurrect this, but I found this ride on my temporary files from forever ago and had to comment on how awesome it is. Great work, man, fantastic for a hand built ride! -

I didn't realize this ride was going to be so... interactive... with nature. I like it!
