  1. Apparently it's too late to use the Metro tunnel and put this in at SFMM? Speed could totally fit in the Full Throttle Area and they could have two new launched coasters. I'm sure that's some other kind of record.
  2. The pieces in the lot aren't for Colossus. They are for some kind of Toyota thing. Going to the park again tomorrow since my daughter is getting her hair done up there, I'll see if anything is different. Although I think I'd have a better time spending 3 hours in a hair salon.
  3. Saw The Worlds End last night. Absolutely hilarious. I still think Shaun of the Dead is the best of the trilogy but this one is going to end up being a classic as well.
  4. Wonder if they are doing the motorcycle or whatever thing they did a couple of years ago. I think it was a TV show they did in the parking lot.
  5. 2013 rankings: Best Steel: Xcelerator Worst Steel: Revolution or Kong Best Wood: Gold Striker Worst Wood: Ghostrider I agree with everybody else that if Ghostrider was even 75% of it's original glory it would still be the best wooden coaster in CA. But since I don't see that happening anytime soon it's the worst.
  6. Again though, you are speaking as a "local" who has gone to the park a lot. Take yourself out of the local mentality and realize that when you are traveling from far away (in this case Australia), going through all of this is pointless when you can bypass all this "work" by getting a Flashpass and eating at Mooseburger. Recommending to somebody who has traveled from halfway around the world to leave the park for lunch and follow a set schedule like this isn't fair to them. In order to give somebody from out of town/out of the country the most stress-free/fun day at ANY park I can't recommend the Flash Pass enough. This will give them time to enjoy the park at a leisurely pace, come back to favorite rides later in the day and not stress out if something happens to be closed when they walk by. It's a no brainier.
  7. ^ They'll get a winning season, but I'd also like to see them get in the Playoffs. Just in, the Doyers are human after all. Back-to-Back losses to the Phillies and Marlins. First back-to-back losses in 2 months. They need to come out pissed tonight.
  8. I want to say Virginia's Giftshop in the California Marketplace sometimes has some good deals. If it's not Virginia's then it's one of them. If you are looking for discount Haunt shirts the store near Sierra Sidewinder usually has shirts from previous years on sale but I think that's only during Haunt.
  9. Definitely wait until you arrive. The park is not likely to sell out of Flash Passes, especially in the off-season. Besides, you might not even need one. I've visited on off-season Saturdays and gotten on every coaster without a problem (though re-rides were limited, but that could be because I left the park and had lunch at a sit-down restaurant). If you do get one, I'd recommend sticking with Gold unless you plan to use the YOLOcoaster upcharge as Platinum is very expensive for what it offers. Thanks for the advice rcdude! Even though I'm a local to SFMM and therefore have never used the Flashpass at that particular park, I ALWAYS recommend that if you are travelling and only have 1 day to see a park to get a Flashpass. I've used Flashpass at every other Six Flags park I've visited. You never know what you are going to want to ride again or how many times you are going to want to ride it. For example, on my visit to SFGAm a couple of years ago I couldn't get enough of Whizzer and probably ended up riding it 9 or 10 times that day. Without the Gold Flashpass that never would have happened. Yes it's an offseason Saturday but you never know what kind of event or camp or school may be there that day. But I do agree with the above, best to wait until you get to the park. I can't imagine they'd sell out.
  10. That spot is too valuable at Knott's for it to remain empty for long. It looks like the pixelated blob at WoF is off in the corner of the park. That's not the case at Knott's and they actually changed the supports for Silver Bullet in order to put in Windseeker. Something else will go in that spot pretty soon I'd guess.
  11. ^ I totally agree with the terrain thing. I actually like the S:UF's better than Tatsu. No question.
  12. ^^ Oh the usher did take care of it, after us and many others signaled them over more than once. The fact that it happened was sad. If your kid doesn't want to go to the theater, leave their ass at home. Of course, with it being SoCal we weren't totally surprised. Do they have the ability to send text alerts at theaters in NY or FL? They have these in CA but we didn't notice it in Chicago when we saw Wicked there. I'm guessing this is only a CA problem.
  13. ^ I think the lack of dressing up for things in Vegas or the Theater was kind of the start of things like this. Previously you'd dress up to go to a show, to a nice dinner, etc. Now you'll see people in shorts and a T-shirt, parents allowing their kids to play on their phones or DS during a live performance (we saw this when we saw Fiddler in OC), etc. We can only hope that things that were old and awesome will come back around some day like Vinyl and forceful B&M's.
  14. ^ Well, not to get into any specifics about Al but the scooter is kind of a necessity for him. I'll just leave it at that.
  15. ^^ Can't find the article but the (highly entertaining) comments are still available. http://micechat.com/forums/miceage-discussions/31034-7-13-setting-sail.html IMO, I think it's kind of chicken shit to remove the article because you got railroaded and called out. I've been called out about stuff I've written and I'd never just try and erase it from existence.
  16. Great TR. I agree with the above, I'm not a huge fan of Tatsu, but the pretzel loop being forceless? I've never experienced this. In fact I'd probably like Tatsu a little better if there was a little less force in that element. As for the rest of your day, glad you had a decent experience. As for Revolution, it's a shell of it's former greatness and it's sad that people who didn't ride it before 1993 don't know what an absolutely amazing ride it was. It would probably still be my favorite coaster in the park if it wasn't so bad now. At this point I don't think I've ridden it in 2 years. I may have ridden it for it's 35th bday last year.
  17. I'm not opposed to using $$ to buy donuts, but I got so burned by EA on Sim City Social that I'm not willing to fork over any $$ at this time, and haven't yet even though it's prevented me from getting some iconic buildings (Lard Land Donuts as an example). I was looking back at some of the past challenges to get buildings and I really hope they bring some of them back at some point for those of us who weren't playing last year.
  18. Fright Fest has been better the past few years. some really great new mazes last year with Blackout being the standout (IMO). I think it's odd we haven't heard any announcements regarding FF yet. As far as the "Annual Maintenance" sign in front of Full Throttle, that was just the sign they already had made up for when a ride is down to 1 train due to maintenance. It's not "technically" Annual Maintenance, but it's funny nonetheless.
  19. It looks like a nice "fun" ride. It's not going to be OMFG amazing like some enthusiasts are touting it to be, it's not going to be the most boring ride either. It will be a nice fun ride. But really, when Phoenix is at the same park it's going to take something amazing to keep me from marathoning that.
  20. This is the sign that's out front of Full Throttle, they put their "Annual Maintenance" sign out there ... for a ride that's been open less than 2 months. (Photo Courtesy of Our Mountain FB page)
  21. What an awesome improvement!!! If you need more testing let me know but it looks like you have it covered in this thread at least.
  22. Charlie Manuel out in Philly. Now I'm not a Phillies fan at all, and I know they pretty much suck, but shouldn't winning a World Series pretty much insure you don't get fired during the season? I think Manuel deserved better than that.
  23. ^ Well, it was against the Chargers.
  24. I love Into the Woods, it's right up there with Jesus Christ Superstar for me. They better not screw it up!!!
  25. I'd imagine that CF is still doing the operating right now. All of the employees, etc will probably be absorbed by the new company. The press release even said that all Soak City passes would be honored until the end of the operating season. Also keep in mind that due to the park being in Palm Springs that it has a longer operating season and a shorter off season. So they most likely wanted to get it done early so they can start re-branding the park.
