Post your milestone coasters
Sir Clinksalot replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
#1 ... Probably Clown Coaster at SFMM #50 ... No idea. Probably something in TX during our 2004 trip? #100 ... Sidewinder at hershey #150 ... Terminator/Apocalypse: The Ride at SFMM #200 ... Jokers Jinx at SFA. -
Went to the park for a bit this morning: The good: Season Passholder ERT on Tatsu. I didn't ride Tatsu (which was only running 1 train anyway) but did get on the 2nd train (front row) of X2 and didn't have to wait in that god awful line to get in to the park. The bad: Pretty much everything else. It was already hotter than Hades and they had NO food locations open. You would have thought with Tatsu ERT they would have opened up Katy's Kettle. At 11:30 when I left they had just started opening up food/drink places. Also, all the water rides didn't open until 11:30 either. I understand this in the winter but not the middle of August. I did go up to the sky tower as well. Were the slingshot pieces always here? I don't think they were. It also looked as if they were doing some work around the old Deja Vu location (nothing going on near Thrill Shot). I'm guessing this means the ride is going here?

Hershey trip planning!

We were there on a Wednesday a few weeks ago and the crowds were very manageable. The longest wait we had was about 30 minutes for Fahrenheit (and I think that was only because it had been closed all day ... ended up opening about 6pm). As for SkyRush, as was said above, I wouldn't worry about it. Our first ride at about 1pm we waited about 25 minutes, by 3pm the line was consistently around 10-15 minutes (unless you want the front). I wouldn't run to SkyRush first but would instead go towards the back of the park hitting Fahrenheit first (if it's open), Roller Soaker and the Mouse as those are the lowest capacity rides in the park. -
Saw Procul Harum and YES last night. The show was "ok", not the best, not the worst. Procul Harum was actually the surprise of the night. Not the biggest fan of theirs but they put on a great show. YES was ok, the new singer wasn't the problem, it was the setlist and the fact that they probably should have given it up 20 years ago. At the very least I can say it was a concert I can check off my list. Procul Harum performing "A Lighter Shade of Pale". Amazing song. Yes - "I've Seen All Good People"

I'm also in B Joey. First time I made it up that high. Now if I could only get through these next couple weeks of training since I'm so behind. Stupid vacation.

Moving it to one of the waterparks is probably something that could work. Doesn't even have to be one of the Soak City's. Send it to KD, Dorney, etc that has an attached waterpark. I know Dorney already has a chute the chutes but it's location is pretty close to the waterpark where it could serve dual purposes. Just take that out and put this in.

The park has said repeatedly that they have some big surprises in store for FF this year so it doesn't hurt at all to get people excited for it IMO. We already know they gutted Willoughby's and are putting something new there. The Aftermath maze was really awesome last year so I'm sure that will be back. The question mark area is going to be the maze that was under Log Jammer. I doubt it will be coming back but they now have a couple of unused area's they could use near Apocalypse and the old Metro station.

Does anyone think the "thousands of visitors" line is Knott's being a little snarky (considering how bad the capacity was)? I hope so. I seriously think it could be Raffi. Just how the banjo music in Ghost Town featuring the pop music was probably a big eff you to those of us who didn't care for the pop music they were playing. Personally I just had to laugh when I heard the Banjo stuff. It was brilliant.

Wizarding World won't be opening in 2014. I don't think DL's E-Ticket will be either. By that rationale they should have built something this year with DL's major expansion and Transformers. Yet they held off and are having a great summer. I think this will be for 2013 and the only park they'll be competing with is SFMM.

Honestly, looking at the pics and videos of that water scrambler ... gonna go out on a limb and say that it would actually look really nice in that area of the park. I think they would have to make it faster than the kiddie version and obviously it wouldn't have the Spongebob theme but similar themeing would fit the boardwalk feel of that area of the park. I am a bit sad that the announcement didn't include Boomerang in the removal.

Great pictures from such a great day. I missed Lights on ERT but that's ok, I was quite content just riding Intimidator. -
Colossus did get some nice retracking done last year, the first half of the ride is actually quite smooth. The 2nd half, not so much. Hopefully the rest will get done soon. And yes, there are a lot of wooden coasters on the east coast that are indeed better than Colossus, nobody really mentions the ones that aren't as good like Thunderhawk (Dorney), Rebel Yell (KD), Wildcat (Hershey), Rolling Thunder (SFGADv). While Hershey and SFGADv do have some good woodies (along with Knoebels of course) there are a few bad ones too. I actually found all of the woodies at KD to be worse than Colossus. Ghoster Coaster was the best one there IMO.

I didn't find the restraints as uncomfortable as the rest of my group but I think we would have ridden it more if they had been a bit more comfortable. I'd even be willing to say that the restraints on I305 would be the best alternative, and if they had those restraints it may actually be a better ride than I305. I really did enjoy the ride, it's my #2 steel behind I305 and it was the only ride that I actually have felt was actively trying to throw me from the train. Crazy fun.
