Had some friends at SFFT for the first time yesterday, apparently I had forgotten to mention Rattler to them. This was the text exchange: Friend: "WTF was the Rattler" Me: "LOL. Interesting Ride no?" F: "Fuck you" M: "Did I not warn you " F: "Interesting is definitely the right word for it. You didn't mention it to me. We heard 2 employees say it's likely on it's last season" Oh, and there was some talk about 2 batman clones in San Antonio.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Thanks for the run-down of which order to hit the coasters. Will serve us well. I'm also wondering about the Roller Soaker thing though. We skipped it when we went to the park in 2005 because it wasn't warm but I'd like to hit it this time. Wonder if it'd be worth it to wear some throw-away sandals into the park then change into shoes after riding RollerSoaker first (or 2nd after Fahrenheit). I don't mind my clothes being wet, it's the shoes I don't care for. -
People pretty much go off and do their own thing. Could you imagine showing up for a ride and telling the Op you have a party of 100+? We all get together at meals, etc but for the most part people just hang out with others they know (friends/family). In fact, many people have met awesome friends at these events or TPR Trips.

Not to sound like a jerk, but you are 18. You never rode Colossus when it was actually a good ride. Yes, it's "ride-able" now compared to what it was in the early 00's but it's not "butter smooth" by any stretch of the imagination. Anything that can be done to get the ride even close to what it was in the late 70's/80's is a good thing.

^ Last I checked, Great White is at Sea World, not Six Flags. As others have said, SFFT wasn't supposed to have a B:TR Clone. The reason they named it Goliath is probably because they already have a Batman at SFOT. I'm sure most people don't even realize it's the same ride. Secondly, the situation with SFNO was unique whereas at the time of Batman's removal they were trying to salvage what they could. They had the space at SFFT and it was the closest park without a Batman already. There have been no indications that the Superman they put up at SFDK is going to be the new "Cloned ride" and as others have said, SFMM isn't the most likely destination for a clone of the ride if there is one. Sure they have put in 4 "new" rides the past 2 years, but they have all been low capacity which doesn't particularly work for SFMM. Don't think they are really going to do the same thing next year. Now like I said previously, I could see them swapping Superman for Green Lantern in a few years.

Need some hotel advice in Allentown/surrounding area's. For our ECB Extended coaster trip later this month we were going to make our "base" near Hershey for the 3 nights we will be doing Hershey/Knoebels/Dorney but the hotels around that area seem to be a little pricey. When we did these parks in 2005 we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express across the street from Dorney and it seemed to work well as a "base" for those parks so I figured we'd do the same this time. Are there any area's in Allentown/Bethlehem that we absolutely don't want to stay in?

We are going to the park in less than a month now (YAY) and I'm glad to hear they are addressing the issues with the restraints on SkyRush and both trains should be complete before our trip. We were thinking of getting the Fast Pass thing but from what I'm gathering it's not really worth it? $50 is a bit much for a 1-ride each. We are planning on spending a full day in the park so I'm guessing we'll be able to get everything in on a Wednesday in August? I've been to the park once (in 2005) but everybody else in my group is new to the park. -
This is not the first Intamin drop tower to do this, in fact don't they all? Don't think it's going to REALLY make that much of a difference. By the time the ride drops and the catch car comes down 400 feet you should be pretty close to being able to dispatch the next group. Plus we all know they will likely only be running 1 side most of the year anyway.

Not sure how you can make a blanket statement that the delay is due to a sudden mechanical problem (because that is what it sounds like you are implying). It was a very short testing window anyway, with many variables in the equation up to and including interaction with S:EFK. As far as I know they have not tested the two simultaneously yet. It could have also been as simple as the state requiring more testing than what they would have had by Thursday or Saturday. It could have been the testing crew not being comfortable turning over the ride to operations yet. It could be due to operations training. Maybe they are waiting for some shrubberies. There are dozens of things it could have been other than some kind of mechanical issue. Could have been a mixture of issues. If there was some kind of major mechanical issue, the delay would have been more than a week IMO. In the end, we'll never know, and it's not really that big of a deal. 1 week in the grand scheme of things won't mean much if the ride is around 20-30 years from now.
