  1. I believe when people say CAD they are refering to AutoCAD or a similar software package like SolidWorks, ProEngineer, etc.
  2. If you see that Ka is testing before opening, I would run there first. It's better to get that out of they way since whenever you wait in line for it you risk it breaking down at any moment. Toro has been eating lines recently with smooth 2-train operation and a good crew. As for the rise and scream deal, I think they pick like 2 coasters each morning that will open early, so I don't think KK and ET will be chosen on the same day. Good luck with your trip!
  3. Nice TR, I was there on Saturday too. You should have stayed past 8:30......steel force re-opened around 9 and I got 5 more rides on it . I found it really strange that Dorney immediately closed every coaster when it began to rain......do they always do this? I know other parks will run most of their rides in the rain as long as there isn't any lightening or anything.
  4. I would say that my home park of SF GADV is my favorite park. Don't get me wrong, I love atmosphere and theming and such, but I go primarily to do some hardcore coaster riding........and GADV is very good for that. Plus, it has El Toro.
  5. those were GREAT pics nothing better than looking out over the sea of coasters at gadv
  6. rise and scream hasn't started yet....... also, even though the employee may not look at which park your SP is from, I believe the computer knows when they scan it. I'm not saying you can't use it for R&S, I honestly do not know.
  7. www.coasterglobe.com/features/lostlegends-thebat/index.cfm here's a good page to read on the bat, it goes into the reasons for it's early demise.
  8. robb I hope you rode ET in the very back I can't wait to ride again this season, I was there 2 weeks ago but only for a few hours and didn't get to ride. Just reading that it blew YOU away (someone who obviously has ridden a fair share of coasters ) makes me feel lucky to have the ride at my home park!
  9. just so you are prepared, crowds will be monstrous. I'm in the same boat, so I say, going when it's crowded is still better than not going at all!
  10. early november and early december are both good, as was mentioned has anybody been there during thanksgiving week? I know crowds will be higher than the surrounding weeks, but it's the only time my family can all get off work/school together. We'd arrive the saturday before so hopefully we can atleast get a few days before the big crowds roll in around thanksgiving......unless it will be really crowded early in the week too
  11. Eejanaika does a full-full element which is very similar to a zero-g, so I'm sure it could be done. However, the experience would probably be very different depending on where you sit.
  12. Any suggestions on which rides I should target at SFGAdv with the Flash Pass, as I am a SFGAdv virgin... KK and El Toro will have the longest waits by FAR. If KK is running when you get there I'd do that first, since you never know with that ride and it could close down for the day any minute. Try and do ET next so you can atleast get one ride in and hopefully come back to that later (recently the line seems to thin out closer to park closing). Since you'll be on that side of the park might as well hit Rolling Thunder and Medusa (short wait most likely) and Runaway Mine Train if you want. Heading over to the other side, you can stop at the boardwalk and Flashpass Superman, possible get on Scream Machine while you wait for your SUF ride time. Then it's off to Movie Town, I'd flashpass Chiller since it's line moves very slowly. Batman: The Ride doesn't usually have a terrible wait, and Nitro's line moves pretty quick (considering they only have 2 trains this early in the year). Basically if you are getting the Gold FLashpass you should get on each ride within 10 or 15 minutes except for KK and ET, which may be a bit longer. If you get the regular flashpass, I'd probably use it mainly on KK and ET, and you can hit the other coaster's while you wait for your ride on those (depending on how long the que time is).
  13. Gold flash pass is $73 for one person or $110 for 2 people. On Six Flags website it says that April 20-22 are Boy and Girl Scout days.......I'm not sure how much this will contribute to the crowds since I've never been there with this group before. Maybe someone else has some insight?
  14. yeah but the catch is that your pass must be processed at the park where you bought it first. So if you live in NJ, you have to visit SFA before you can visit any other Six Flags parks. Also, I think I remember someone saying that you can't buy a pass online if you live further than 300 miles away from the park........Does anyone know if this is true?
  15. Chiller is my most intense LIM launch, I'm sure the Mr. Freeze coasters are about the same. California Screamin's launch isn't as intense but it sure was a lot a fun!
  16. as was said....El Toro is DEFINATELY a back seat ride....on a slow day last year I rode front, middle, and back all one after the other and the back was my favorite by far. As for KK......front is obviously the best but if the wait is long the 2nd row is almost as good. The stadium seating arrangement means you can still get a good view from the second row with a much shorter wait.
  17. Just imagine you were in a grocery store, and you went up to an employee to ask them where something is but they were yapping on their cell phone on the job. That would be COMPLETELY unacceptable and they would be disciplined or probably fired immediately for using a cell phone on the sales floor. And believe me, supermarket workers or basically any other retail jobs don't pay any better than theme parks, yet they are still expected to act in a professional manner while on the job.
  18. ummm.......that's what it does lol The launch time doesn't vary very much, since there is only a certain distance to achieve the required speed and therefore the acceleration and time are pre-determined by those two factors. everything is under high levels of stress, hence why it breaks down all the time
  19. i'm not sure if it's just because of the OTSR's, but I remember hearing that when Deja Vu was originally installed they realized that riders with long arms could actually stretch and reach up to touch the track.....obviously not a safe thing to do. Maybe the modifications they made to the ride have something to do with the maximum height requirement?
  20. yeah, legs are probably the deciding factor for most people. The lab bar can usually go under the rider's stomach but if you have big legs then you might have trouble.
  21. just found this pic, this shows the highest position of the lap bars for the computer to give the OK:
  22. KK you should have no problem....the OTSR's are very accommodating ET on the other hand can be VERY tight for larger people.....if you have ever ridden an Intamin hyper it is on the same level as those in terms of size contraints. It really all depends on where your weight is, I've seen some good sized people (~250 lbs I would say) squeeze on but others who don't look as big sometimes can't ride. My dad tried to ride and he's about ~240lbs and his legs were too big for the lap bar to come down far enough. It's not just a matter of getting the lap bar over your legs, but the computer has sensors which tell it if the lap bar is not down far enough. Just try the test seat out front before you get in line, and I wish you the best of luck! Other coasters at Gradv shouldn't be a problem!
  23. I've always wanted to see a video of the station, that would be awesome!
  24. www.wsoctv.com/news/11298370/detail.html seems that Carowinds knows what went wrong, although they have yet to officially release the cause to the public. It seems they have hope for Borg opening rather soon, so It doesn't seem like a major repair is necessary. I'm sure most of the time will be spent getting the ride certified by the state.
