Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Satans Hockey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I watched the live stream of the announcement and it was amazing how many people's first comment was "it's not a coaster!" Who gives a shit, it looks awesome. I really can't stand people sometimes lol -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Satans Hockey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very cool announcements, I've only been to Hershey once and didn't do the water park before but I think I might get a season pass for next year. I was gonna get one for this year and didn't end up doing so. For me Hershey is just far enough to be a pain to drive there and back in one day(about 2.5 hours each way) but not far enough to warrant a hotel so that's why I didn't bother this year. -
I don't know enough about Merlin to comment on anything with the but this was my first year with a platinum pass and I have loved all the parks I've been to in the chain so far I had only previously been to SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Williamsburg but went to Busch Gardens Tampa, Adventure Island and Aquatica for the first time and they were all fantastic. I'm not sure we can swing a Florida trip next year cause we have a lot coming up but we'll probably not cancel since we did the monthly payment plan to get locked into the current price and we want to support the parks and we'll at least get down to BGW a few times. Plus it gives us a reason to try to sneak a trip to San Antonio next year lol My girlfriend had never been out of the Disney bubble before our trip this year but she loved SeaWorld and both BG parks.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Satans Hockey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You must have gotten the last one cause I just checked and don't see the 4.5 star listed anymore. Yep I got the last one. It said "Hurry only 1 room left!" I hopped on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Nice deal, I'll definitely keep an eye out in case they add some more, I'm planning a trip for around the same time. -

Carowinds Discussion Thread

Why would you be willing to have a complete stranger from here pick you up and drop you back off yet not want to take an Uber? It shouldn't even cost that much. -
People have been complaining for years about line cutting at GAdv. It has always been one of the biggest gripes I've heard from people. Even if it was dead I am glad they are still making an effort to deter line cutters. During my last visit that ticket helped prevent one kid from cutting about 10 people through El Toro's switchbacks. It was also a walkon that day, but the point is it did its job. The worker at El Toro wasn't checking any of them even though there was a very small line and Nitro I walked straight into the station, it really just seems like a waste unless there's actually a line, especially when they aren't bothering to check. I'd honestly rather see them stick a security guard at rides where this is actually a problem and have them take care of it instead of this system. Are there any other parks out there that do the paper system?

Everything about our cell phone culture drives me nuts. I resisted them myself for years until it was practically a requirement to have one. At SFDK last month at least half the people were either just sitting down or walking aimlessly with a cell phone stuck to their face. It made me wonder why are they even here...you can do that at home. As far as cell phones and coasters go, if one ever hits me on a ride and it doesn't knock me out cold(or worse), I pity the fool when we get back to the station. I also support these policies and wish they'd get even more strict. I don't see the need to do this. You can go on youtube any time and watch professional vids filmed by people like Robb. A few years back I was praying the obsession was just a fad. Its not. Its here to stay. Worst is concerts and I hear its even worse than the last time I went to a show. I'm one of the only people in the crowd not standing there aiming a phone at the stage. Didn't even pull my phone out when I was really close to the stage at the M.I.A. show and Buckethead show. What's the point? To get a like on FB or Twitter? No thanks. I'll just enjoy the show. Another reason for my dislike of this stuff is I was in a car wreck back in March 2016 in front of my house. I was turning into my driveway and the car behind the car behind me tried passing us both as I was pulling in. He overcorrected, hit me, and his car landed upside down. A miracle we weren't killed. I walked over there to make sure he was alive. He was....and he was also talking. Told me he was texting his girlfriend on the way to Starbucks. He then asked me if he could use my phone(his flew out during the wreck). That enraged me and only two things saved this guy from his cruising for a bruising.... He was in distress My ex girlfriend was there When the cops arrived the first thing I said was the needless and idiotic reason for this crash. Sorry for the rant straying off topic. Cell phones just irritate me(except when they're being used in theme park TRs ). Geez, glad you were alright at least. Theme parks I usually only use my phone to take photos of animal exhibits or just to grab some photos in front of some rides or entrances. Other then that I don't have my phone out whatsoever unless I'm checking the time. Concerts have gotten worse with phones as well but like Canobie Coaster said at least those can't hurt you. I have no problems with people taking some photos and quick videos of a song, I've definitely done the same, it's the people who record the entire show on their phones that I don't understand. With the amount of phones I've been seeing out on coasters lately it won't surprise me if every coaster has a metal detector at some point.

A couple of pictures from the sea lion show and the animals behind the stadium, I know we all love to talk about coasters but this area of the park is really awesome. Swimming with the trainer She likes to dance too Up close after the show Waving goodbye Flamingo area in the safari discoveries section behind the sea lion stadium, first time I've ever seen them there before. Also some kangaroos where the baby giraffe was earlier this year

I stopped in for a quick 2 hour visit yesterday just cause I was going past the park anyway and had some time to kill. We checked out the sea lion show for the first time this year, it's really good and only about 10 minutes. A major improvement over last year's show that was about the animal Olympics. They only use the sea lion for this one unlike last year when they used the pig and some other animals but it's definitely worth checking out. I really don't find myself to be much of a complainer when I go to parks but 2 things happened yesterday that annoyed me. I'm for the new loose articles policy that the park is using and that's because I've experienced way too many selfish morons who take their cell phones out on coasters in the past year and it seems like it keeps getting worse. So I saw them tell a few people to leave the station when they saw people had phones out or in their pockets. I get in the second to last row, immediately going up the lift hill there's some woman in the 4th or 5th row with their cell phone out already and she kept it out the entire time all the way back into the station. The staff didn't notice nor care so I said something to one of them as I got off but didn't stick around to see if they did anything. If they are going to try to stick to this policy they need to pay more attention and make examples of these people. I'm just sick of these selfish morons with complete disregard for the people behind them. They were also handing out the boarding tickets to keep track of the line on El Toro and nitro (the only 2 I went on) but the problem was there were no lines so why bother doing this? The staff wasn't checking them anyway and there was no reason to. Just pointless. I don't complain often about the park but this stuff just annoyed me today. The seal show was great and Nitro and El Toro were awesome as usual. I was just annoyed that instead of enjoying one of the best coasters in the world I was paying more attention to the selfish moron to see if her phone was going to come flying at my face.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Satans Hockey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I searched the thread to see if anyone asked this before but I couldn't find anything. I'm planning a trip coming up and looking to get fast lane plus passes, now my question is Cedar Point has this listed on their website for platinum pass holders "Upgrade to Fast Lane Plus when you buy Fast Lane (in-park only)" Does anyone know if this is offered at Kings Island as well or is it only a Cedar Point thing? -
Bigger? Sure. Badder? Not in a million years. I305 is easily in the top three most intense coasters on the planet (#1 being Karnan imho). Knowing Busch's manufacturer relationships this will more than likely be a Beemer snooze fest. Edit - And before anyone goes off on an "lol but why two beemer hypers," just look at Carowinds. Now shush. It would be great to me if it's not as intense anyway, maybe it's cause it's been really hot when I've gone but I just can't do more than 1 reride on I305 without feeling like a truck ran me over lol I could ride fury 325 and El Toro all day though. I305 is the only ride that really kicks my ass like this just from its intensity.

Dollywood Discussion Thread
Satans Hockey replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Does anyone know why the park is closed every Tuesday/Thursday of this month after August 15th? Put a bit of a wrench in my plans since I was going to try to go the 17th then start the drive home that night. I'm planning a cedar point / kings island / dollywood trip, might just extend it a day and go on the 18th and check out the other stuff in Pigeon Forge the 17th or go to splash country since that's open on the 17th. Kentucky Kingdom is closed the 16/17/18 as well so that's not an option either lol -
When it comes to the loose articles policy all your answers can be found in this thread already. I use the search option for threads when I'm going to parks that aren't local all the time and I feel like people don't take advantage of this great feature more. Right under the name of the thread you can enter what you want to search in this thread Here you can see the results after you search

Some of the Facebook groups I'm in for the local parks around me are enough reason to understand why you wouldn't want to do public trips anymore. Sure there are some great people in there and on here but some of these people are just beyond help and I couldn't even imagine going to 1 park with them let alone an entire trip.

Just saw this news and I agree with pretty much everyone here. I was able to ride them when they still dueled and those were some amazing rides. I was also on them over a year ago and agree that the locker situation is a real pain. I also absolutely understand the viewpoint of Robb's and others who aren't into Harry Potter. The first time I had went to Island's of adventure after the Potter section opened I knew absolutely nothing about the series and none of it appealed to me and going on forbidden journey none of it made sense to me as well. My gf is a huge Potter fan so when we made the trip down to check out the new Potter stuff over on the universal side I decided to watch the movies and I really appreciated how much detail and things they put into all of it and going on forbidden journey this time made so much more sense. I'm still a very casual fan though, I only watched each movie once and I'd never watch them again, I'm the same with star wars so I definitely understand people being completely uninterested in these franchises.

D23 Expo 2017 News Roundup

A lot of very cool updates. I'm a very casual star wars fan(I've seen the movies but that's about all I care for it) but that star wars resort hotel is going to do insane business. -
Hey, be nice. Pretty soon you'll be able to pay to ride a completely pointless Ferris Wheel next door to the baseball stadium (that's currently delayed a year and 300 million dollars over budget) where you can also view the goodness of Manhattan from afar and we all know they're probably sending you to the media day. Get hyped! I'm still amazed that thing got approved to be built, they better hope tourists are as stupid as they are hoping they are lol
