  1. I love the front of those trains! This is so cool, I haven't been on one of these yet so I'm really looking forward to this opening. I'm so happy they went with local lore for the theme as well. I wonder if they kept the devil statue from outside El Diablo or if they will have that company(I forgot the name but they are local too and do really cool work) make them a new statue. I also obviously absolutely love the name of this ride, I'll definitely be buying some merch for it lol
  2. Well this looks absolutely awesome. That 95 degree drop is gonna be wild.
  3. Get a cheesesteak at Johns Roast Pork. John's is amazing, both cheesesteaks and roast pork and for any of the wrestling fans on here, it's legit a block over from the old ECW arena.
  4. I was at the park today, Carnivale is a great addition, we really enjoyed it and I hope they make this a yearly thing. Twisted Timbers is just so much damn fun. My first time experiencing the new metal detector system they have running and the pouches on the ride fit my keys and phone no problem. My only complaint is that it takes them so long to get out a train because of the way they have to check everything that I wished they built a what's in the shed for this like mystic Timbers since it would beat roasting in the sun. It's really weird being at the park without seeing Volcano. Riding the bobsled ride gives a great look at into all the open space they have there now. I'm really curious to see what they end up doing with it.
  5. I agree with the others, put that money towards a tour. I've done the penguins up close experience before and it was really awesome. They show you all the areas in the back where they store the food, etc and explain about where the penguins are from for a bit. Then they bring you out into the main exhibit(where if you hate the cold you need to at least bring a hoodie) and they open a gate and one of them comes hopping over and they let you pet them and take a picture with them. We happened to do the tour when nobody else did so it was even a better experience but I still think it's worth the money either way. We also did the behind the scenes tour which is cheaper and that was also very good but we enjoyed the penguins up close tour more.
  6. CBS is airing a show tonight called Whistleblower, "SeaWorld the case against captivity" https://www.cbsnews.com/news/former-trainer-blows-the-whistle-on-killer-whale-captivity-at-seaworld/ It doesn't seem like anything is new in this and this guy was in Blackfish so I don't really see the point in this episode.
  7. I don't care about what Walt originally thought or tradition but holding the park back from what exactly? Sure they would make some more money if the sold alcohol but it's not like they aren't making a ton of money as it is or having poor crowds. Plus if you have a park hopper you can walk right across to California Adventure and find plenty of booze there or take the monorail to downtown Disney and find plenty there too so it's not like the resort is completely alcohol free.
  8. There's still all the stuff going in with the log flume too. They're putting in serious work there. I wonder if it has anything to do with Legoland? I don't think so, they are almost 90 miles apart and aren't going for the same age bracket of customers anyway.
  9. https://en.puwota.com That website will tell you which wrestling shows are going on in every city in Japan. I used the Loppi machines to see a few different shows. I watched this video and took screen shots of the steps. It was really simple and the machines are in so many different Lawson stores. If you drink, these venues don't care about what you bring in. I filled up an entire drawstring bag full of beer and brought them inside the venues with me. A lot of other people do the same thing. Just don't leave the trash at your seat because everyone cleans up after themselves. Also watching wrestling over there is very different then here. People don't really stand and there aren't any obnoxious drunks like you would see here. People still clap and chant but it's still way different than anything here. All the venues I went into have sections labeled as North, South, West and East so it helps to screen shot those symbols so you have an idea of what section your seats will be in. If you have trouble just ask someone and they will gladly help you find your seat. https://www.limousinebus.co.jp/en/ The trains are very easy to use to get around but after a long flight I didn't feel like trying to figure them out with my luggage so I used this bus service and it was perfect. You get to bring 2 checked bags and they will take you straight from the airport to your hotel if it's listed on there or you could always pick one near your hotel if it's not on there. I was extremely happy about using them. I love driving and very rarely take public transportation because I hate it but I can't imagine driving in Japan over taking the trains. Their system is so perfect, clean and efficient that it just doesn't make sense to drive in my opinion. Plus they drive on the left with their steering wheels on their right and while I would like to try it, I'm sure it definitely takes awhile to get use to. We stayed in a few different hotels and had no problems checking our bags. I found a lot of people, even in Tokyo didn't speak English so I did a lot of pointing at menus and another thing is if you see pictures outside just take a picture in your phone and point at that when you get in. I wish I had learned some more simple terms in Japanese just to make things easier but it didn't prevent us from doing anything and everyone was very nice and willing to help us out because we were polite and friendly back to them. Google maps is a must. It helped out with the trains and walking directions. I bought a Japanese sim card with a data plan just for that, I think I spent $28 for 1.5 gbs that lasted the entire time. Cash is king over there but pretty much everywhere in Tokyo that we went to took credit cards. My card doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee so I used my card for the majority of the trip but we still had enough cash on us just in case. We carried our passports on us at all times just in case and if you're purchasing certain store items you can get them tax free for purchases over, I think it was $50 by showing your passport. We also used hisgo.com for a few tours, a sumo wrestling practice and a round trip bus ticket which included a ticket to Fuji Q and I have nothing but good things to say about both of them. I would absolutely use them again for other experiences in the future. Also if you haven't already the official TPR Japan trip reports are very helpful to make you feel more confident in going in with a game plan and to make you feel like you aren't going in completely blind to the trip. We absolutely loved Japan and we can't wait to go back. If you somehow have a miserable time when you go then you might as well never travel anywhere ever again lol
  10. Went to this park on Tuesday, was planning to see how crowded it was before buying a fast lane but it was slammed with ghost rider at 2 hours pretty much all day so I'm really glad we ended up getting one. Well worth the money and got a ton of rides in that we wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. We really enjoyed this park and it's got a solid lineup of fun rides. Ghost rider was an absolute blast, just wish I could have gotten some night rides in but the park closed at 8pm. It looked awesome with the orange lights at night. Hangtime was awesome. Calico River Rapids was fantastic and I was surpised by the level of the theming, we rode it a bunch of times and the animatronics were great. We got wet but not soaked and honestly that's the perfect combo for me when we aren't in a water park. Pony Express was the first time I've been on a ride like that and while I enjoyed it I'm glad we had fast lane because I wouldn't have waited on the lines it had because it was just too short of a ride. It made me really look forward to riding Tron when that opens at Magic Kingdom though. The 3d shooting game Voyage to the Iron Reef was a great surprise, we never expected it to be that good. I wish more Cedar Fair Parks had these types of rides over the awful plants vs zombies and the just ok Boo Blasters. The actual game play and video was way better than Justice League as well. The log flume ride was great but I don't know if it was just our log or what but there was so much water inside of it that we had to keep our feet up on the inside bars because they would have been submerged in water if we didn't. We didn't even get very wet from the ride either. Also this ride wasn't part of fast lane even though the map says it is so we waited till the end of the day and hoped on line and waited 5 mins to get on. It had a really long line the rest of the day. Overall an excellent experience at the park and would definitely stop by again if I was in the area.
  11. I've never had trouble with Ubers at the park. Some of them will drop you off right at the main gate if that's what you want and what I normally ask is to be dropped off right outside the England parking lot. You can just walk through there and head to the entrance from there. It's probably the easiest spot especially if you're going to be there for the opening. After a full day at the park I've never had a problem catching an Uber either and you can just stand outside the main gate and they will come in and get you. Prices are really quite cheap too from my experience.
  12. I can confirm the fast pass ticket booth is right next to the carousel. You can buy tickets there for all the rides in one shot or there are ticket machines at each of the big 4 rides as well. You really can't miss it since it's basically a straight walk from that main entrance. The workers at the booth didn't speak English but I didn't have any trouble purchasing tickets from them since I had written down the names of the rides and the times and that made the transaction way smoother for the both of us so I would highly recommend doing that as well. 3 of the big 4 rides are pretty close to each other so if the line at the booth is really long you can definitely go to the individual ride machines instead for the passes. I choose to do the booth because the line was really short. I had read about the park's reputation as well but I really enjoyed the park. Operations definitely could have been faster but it was still way better than what I was expecting. They also have English maps when you get there too. They were either near the main ticket booth or right after the main entrance. That part I don't really remember. Also one of the restaurants in there, I forgot the name but it has like 4/5 different style of foods in there with a big 2 floor seating area has self ordering machines that has English on it as well. You just order whatever you want on it, pay and wait for your number to show up and show them the ticket. I can't comment on the hotel or purchasing ticket experience because I did a bus/combo travel package. Public transportation is easy in Japan but for the combo price I thought it was worth it. All we had to do was hop on the bus in the morning and at night to come back from right outside Tokyo Station. They gave us the tickets to redeem at the park on the bus as well and just had to go redeem that at the ticket booth. This is the one I did... https://www.hisgo.com/us/sp/Contents/OptionalTour/DetailOptionalTour.aspx?TourCd=TYO1177&lang=en I also watched a morning sumo practice that I purchased from hisgo as well and both that and the bus trip were great and worth the money to me. I recommend reading through the official TPR trip reports. I had told Robb this over in that thread as well but the Japan trip reports really helped me with my plans quite a bit. It was nice being able to feel like I was going in with some knowledge of what I was doing.
  13. Disney is banning smoking and ridiculously big strollers in the California and Florida parks. I like it... https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/disney-smoking-stroller-restrictions/index.html
  14. I've gone early on during food and wine and don't think I've waited more than 20-30 mins for most rides unless it was a new one that just opened that year.
  15. False alarm but seems like some went into a panic.... https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/breaking-disneyland-paris-incident-theme-14178083
  16. Great report! Food looks great. I've never heard of liquefied olives before either but I really want to try that now
  17. Well that's better than the other scents you can smell in the bathroom lol
  18. It's just not real competition. You can get a six flags season pass that includes the water park for like $65-70 bucks and free parking. A quick look about the mall of America prices and the Nickelodeon season pass is $139 plus tax. Looking at the Edmonton mall which they also own I don't even see a season pass offered but a single day is $49 and a 2 day multi park pass is $119. None of this even includes parking which you're going to have to pay for at this mall. You can get a six flags season pass with access to both parks plus free parking and a dining pass instead.
  19. Pushed back to fall now lol... https://www.nj.com/bergen/2019/03/american-dream-mega-malls-opening-likely-pushed-back-to-the-fall.html
  20. I didn't find any of the coasters there to be rough. Have you been on any of the free spin coasters or X2 before and have issues with those? I haven't been on X2 yet but I didn't find Eejanaika to be rough but it really does whip you around. I could see that possibly being an issue for you but I'm also not a doctor lol
  21. Fantastic report, I went for the first year of the seven seas festival and was disappointed we couldn't make it back down there last year. I would love to sneak in a quick trip before this ends but not sure I'm going to be able to pull it off. Everything looks even better than the past few years and it was already awesome to begin with.
  22. Ridiculous, who cares. You don't have to go into the land if you dislike it that much. The whole point of the parks is to make $$$ and this will make them a ton. It's not like Disney doesn't invest money back into the parks.
  23. I'm missing the opening by just a few days but that's fine by me as I'd rather not deal with the opening weekend craziness that it will be. Actually hoping it works to my benefit and the park won't be as crowded with people just waiting a few days to go check out the Star Wars area instead. I'm not a big Star Wars fan either but it looks absolutely amazing, I'll eventually check it out in Orlando.
  24. I think this looks amazing, that new entrance pavilion looks so much nicer than what they have now with the legacy tombstones as I've seen people call them. The trees and color really look so much better. Epcot has so many changes in the next few years and it all looks so good. Can't wait to get back down there.
