  1. sixflagsgadvguy1000 - Dude, you sound more paranoid than I was two years ago! Don't fret.... none of the Busch Gardens coasters will give you a problem. The way I got through all the questions and issues I had was that if I went on on B&M...then another, and liked it - then B&M was A-OK in my book. I get it, but you may be psyching yourself up for a fall if you react this way about them. This past summer, I knocked out three new parks. HersheyPark, Busch Gardens Europe, and Kings Dominion. Since the last post re: Great Adventure in another thread that I responded to, I have also conquered Kingda Ka! All I have to say is... JUST DO IT! You won't regret any of it. Most of all - HAVE FUN!!!
  2. DCody - I enjoyed your review of the coasters! I am also among those who think Alpengeist is not all I heard it to be. I went into it expecting so much, and was pretty disappointed! My problem is this... B:TR is my home invert. When I rode Mamba, to me, that blew B:TR away. I expected Alp. to be along those lines, and it was not. Griffon was definitely the surprise coaster for me, and we rode it 3x in a row, once in each row! I LOVEEED IT! I cannot wait to see how the new coaster will eventually shape up, and how it will be situated, and named. Yippie BG!
  3. Up until this year, B&M was the only looping coaster manufacturer that I had ridden, with the exception of RNR. I think that without a doubt, the most forceful layout is B:TR. I have only ridden the one in SFGAdv though. Especially if you ride it at the end of the day, it packs a punch in a short amount of time that is sure to drum up a headache for it's quick paced elements. I have ridden both Kumba & Montu, but didn't find them intense as mentioned. To me, all the Orlando coasters, including Kraken, and DC - seemed like they pulled you through the elements, not feeling the drops (and they are taller), where others back home such as Bizarro, seem to hold you to your seat, but you feel the fall in the drops. I am not sure how to explain it, but they all had it. Maybe that is the force talking. The pretzel loop in S:UF wasn't intense to me, and especially after I rode Manta in the rear, S:UF lost any intensity factor it had. Still a yummy ride though. I did not grey or black out on Manta, as I have heard some have in the rear. I almost wouldn't ride it in the rear for the fear of the grey out. In the end, I guess the intensity varies on the individual.
  4. But now it is four years old! I would give them a picture I took for free if necessary. You would think that they would eventually change it to reflect the actual coaster. Especially one rated so high.
  5. I may not like the name they picked for the coaster, but I love the logo! Thanks for keeping us up to date with everything!
  6. It was so funny to go back and read some of these, as lots of the avatars have changed since the posts! I have only had two here on TPR. My original was a pic my mom took the first time I went to MK... when I was like five. My current one is of myself, my daughter, a few of her friends, and Big Mike. This was taken the first time we met him. Epic moment... so this one stays. (Well, for now!)
  7. Oh nice! What did you get, the D3100? Cannot wait to see the pictures!! I am a Nikon fan myself! Have fun on your trip!! I cannot wait to get my butt on a cruise. I was actually looking at Sept. 2011 on Carnival Destiny. The route was perfect. Only problem is why is that the only one of its size? Makes me nervous. lol. No, but really - I actually decided to work on my 2012 Cali trip instead. One day I will cruise... Until then, you all will have to keep posting your reports and pictures, and maybe it can help decide where I want to go!
  8. I went to Fright Fest At Six Flags Great Adventure on Columbus Day. I think that they did not have the full out spooks running around that day due to the 8pm closing. There were only 2 hours for the scares. But...there were practically no lines, including on KK! (My first ride ever) We did not do any mazes due to the up charge! I didn't expect that. I have gone in prior years, and there wasn't an up charge. So we opted out and rode Nitro in the dark. Nitro in the "fog". Very creepy! Fountain of Fear Wish I got a better pic of this...it was just so funny. Our friend got scared by this "ghoul" just after when she thought she went another way! Show by the Ferris Wheel. We did not stop. Creepy can girl. It does make an awful sound on the floor! And last but not least: my pic from KK. There were six in our group. Me in the middle, and my dtr behind me. lol.
  9. This is the perfect topic! I have non coaster shots to share. I went to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens today. It was a gorgeous day out. Not many flowers out there, but there were plenty of bees on the ones that were there. There were also some roses left. Not that these pics are of roses, but I figured I'd mention that. lol. I used my Nikon D90, and my Sigma 105mm prime lens. My pics that are up on Flickr are here:
  10. Hulk Volcano Kingda Ka Backlot Stunt Coaster Rockin rollercoaster Flight of Fear Chiller (Robin side) Storm Runner Maverick (Is this considered a launch?) I think I got all the launches I have experienced. So far, the best one would have to be KK. I overall just love launches. Each have something different to offer. I love watching the faces on the riders.
  11. Cool TR. I was there on Monday, and the park was practically empty! I could have sworn that around three or four, the crowds would have poured in like any normal Fright Fest day, but they stayed away! I will always go on Columbus Day from now on. We only got into the park at around 12:30, and rode Nitro: 3 Batman: 1 (b/c no one in my party but me wanted to a second time!!) Bizarro: 1 El Toro: 2 Rolling Thunder: 1 (only the left side was running!) Superman: 1 Houdini: 1 Kingda Ka: 1 Soda refills: 10 We actually took our time this time out and just enjoyed the park, and walked around. The longest line of the day was El Toro at maybe 15 minutes, tops. I was bummed that the tigers were not out. We probably should have gone to the water, but being we got there late, we did not want to bother. The log flume was not open, although it was most definitely hot enough for it! We didn't bother with Skull Mtn or Runaway Train either... I actually forgot about the train. There didn't seem like there were too many "spooks" out this year. Usually they are all over, but I only saw a few. Maybe there are less due to the earlier park closure time.
  12. NICE! Love that paint job! ^^ I always wanted to ride that type of ride! I saw it in one of the videos last year and have been wondering about it since! My pending Cali trip for 2012 was already including SFMM! YAY! What a big year 2011 is turning out to be!!! It just keeps getting better and better!
  13. wow...I was originally supposed to be there today! Scary. I guess that ride is history. It really doesn't look good.
  14. Nice report! I look forward to KD! You guys were there just a week before I was. I wish I could have timed it better!
  15. WWWOOOWW! The caverns look amazing! I'd love to spend some time there. Great PTR! Makes me not have to post mine! (Yeah, eventually I will) I will also be hitting up SFNE next year. I originally wanted to finish my year out there, but something came up, so Bizarro will have to wait.
  16. Oh yeah, there is something behind that tree. They are being very tricksy with this stuff. So much thought is being put into every little step. It is cool though... gives us all something to talk about instead of guessing. I love the little updates. Yes, thank you for the screen shot! I hate grabbing video.
  17. Possibly similar, but hopefully unique in the fact tht the land being used is not the same. It will be exciting to ride regardless! Thanks for the update!
  18. My heart did this weird flutter thing when I saw that track photo! I agree! Cannot wait for elemental track! Track porn... woo hoo!
  19. Nice. I rode Mantis last month for the first time - my very first stand up, and I loved it. This one I hear is better. I cannot wait!!
  20. OMG OMG OMG... I know that has been exclaimed already - but I am in love. Busch has a winner on their hands! Cannot wait to see more!
  21. ^^lol. That one is funny! I can sit for hours looking at all the faces in those shots! Hanno, thanks for the info! Very, very helpful!
  22. Hanno - AWESOME as ALWAYS!! OK, so I have two questions for you. Do you ever find yourself limited on the people pictures with your lens, or do you carry another? I have tried to use my 70-300 in various situations and just found myself switching back to my 18-135 b/c of the versatility. I usually just keep it to the one lens, or my P&S. BUT, I never bring my D90 into parks, just my D40X b/c I am scared someone will take it! Plus, the D40x fits into my fanny pack, well, two (one worn by me, and the other my dtr) They are not responsible after all for the stuff you leave behind...so I try not to leave it. What do you do with it when you are on the ride? I guess you ride with so many TPR people though... usually it is just myself, and a few others and we ride at the same time. Again, grrreeat photos! Cannot wait for more!
  23. I did not see any video offerings at CP when I was there last month. That would be a pretty cool idea if they could do it safely. (Your whole day of coasters)
  24. Great PTR, and some great angles!! And that was only day 1?? More please!
