  1. My experience as a former SF and CF ride op. Ride ops were trained to always have the final say on what height was safe to ride or not. Like mentioned above it is very very common for parents to switch wrist bands, stuff shoes, wear shoes with exaggerated soles/heels and then change after measurement. So while a wrist band is nice, it was not a 100% indication a child is good to go. In 5 years I spent at GL/SFWoA I saw many parents do a lot of shady things to get a wrist band on a kid that was too short to ride. And ultimately the ride op is responsible for the riders safety at the ride. At least in Ohio, ride operators can be held criminally and civilly liable for injury that happens on a ride if they allow someone who does not meet the manufacturers requirements to ride. Better safe than sorry.
  2. ^^Interesting they appear to use the same web develop for their site as CF, or just pay someone to mimic it.
  3. I would double check rates at Cedar Point Express Hotel (Formerly Breakers Express). With Platinum Passes you will receive a discounted rate, which depending on time of year I've seen as low as $70/night. Just something to double check before booking elsewhere. In fact, you will receive a discount at any CF owned hotel, so not knowing your budget you could double check a Breakers stay to see if it's within your budget and worth the added convenience of staying on Point. Also, to combine with your KI stay, I enjoy the Comfort Suites (Mason) right by the park. I've stayed there about 3x now and the hotel is clean, has an indoor pool, and a basic breakfast. But it's close to the highway so there's a Dunkin, Taco Bell, McDonald's, plus a few other restaurants I can't remember all within walking distance. Heck KI is even within walking distance if you want, but it's about a 3-5 minute drive from the parking lot. My bookings the rates usually have averaged about $70/night on hotels.com.
  4. I'm really excited to have one of these smaller Dive coasters opening in the US. Personally my favorite B&Ms always tend to be the smaller, compact rides.
  5. ^^Not a local but this may help you plan: https://smokymountains.com/fall-foliage-map/
  6. It looks slow! So disappointing! /s Really excited for this ride! Hoping to find some time to do a Sea World/SFFT trip this year and check out some more of San Antonio. I haven't been to a Sea World since 2000 and that was Sea World Ohio.

  8. Exactly how I’ve felt ever since the dinos were on the island and the bridge was put in place for that. People all up in arms about how that sealed the fate of PWE ever retuning. They’ll build a ramp. It’s simple as that Those bridges installed for Dinos were floating bridges, nothing really permanent. We used the same ones at GL (in fact some may have come from GL). They were moved a few times from one side of the lake to the other. That's not really gonna be an issue. Humans have been building bridges for centuries. I'm pretty sure the engineers who contract for CP can figure this out.
  9. Yes, they will also announce they can control the weather too... Sadly that's not how machines work. They will break.
  10. ^They already have a no politics disclaimer! lol
  11. I'm a sucker.. I bought a $100 brick for my family! lol Everything looks really cool. Snake River Expedition looks like a great expansion of what they built with Forbidden Frontier and a great way to call back to the previous boat rides. Awesome that it's family friendly for all ages. Also, the remodeled food stands look great! I'm very happy to see the continued focus on improving the food service as well as the dated look of most of these places. Some stands look like they may now offer indoor seating? Hope thats true!
  12. I'm gonna go ahead and start the "it was removed for a mega-lite" rumor.
  13. Meh, to me it just means shorter queue times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sadly as much as they b*tch they still come to the parks to ride!
  14. It's heartbreaking to me that there is a percentage of "enthusiasts" who just want to s**t on anything unless its the tallest, fastest, most twisty whatever.
  15. Not really a 2021 prediction.. but I do think their next major coaster will be a B&M Hyper. And it'll anchor the phase 2 expansion of Wildwood Grove I think with how poor Lightning Rod was in terms of up time in it's first season and all the delays it experienced they will play it safe with an attraction from a company with a well established quality record.
  16. Shouldn't judge by size! Size doesnt matter! I really do think all the hate this ride has been getting from a segment of the community will disappear once people actually ride it. I love how it's looking so far. Really excited for 2020!
  17. This is probably the cheapest you'll see it. Even with the Platinum Pass in-park discount it usually doesn't dip to $70 for FL+ that often anymore. Most Fridays and Sundays will see in the $100+ range and Saturdays (which is excluded here) has hit $150 during the summer and Haunt. This is a good price to jump on.
  18. ^The fact they act like they were the only ones who discovered this hidden deal. Then realize about 100,000 other people seem to have discovered it too and are angry. Yes Halloweekends was even more of an attendance s**tshow this year then normal. But it's been trending that way for some time. Cheap passes, combined with amazing weather and low gas prices and you have a recipe for chaos at the gate. I'm sure this will balance out next season, once the excitement of the deal wears off for some people, especially May and June when a lot of schools are still in session. Sure July-October Saturdays will suck. Sundays-Thursdays will probably only see a minor uptick in attendance.
  19. At least for CP it's mostly due to staffing. They're extremely short staffed this time of year due to kids returning to college or home over seas. Lots of their staff drive in for the weekend from local colleges and there are tons of fundraiser volunteers to round out staff. Another reason service tends to suck this time of year. You literally have people working stands and even crowd control at rides who may be there on Friday and not again, ever. We did the same thing at GL under CF management to fill out our send of season staffing, and it was terrible coming in and having to train all new employees every day.
  20. Yeah, while I understand your sentiment here, and I agree that it sucks that you paid for Fastlane and still had hour+ waits, the park does not advertise Fastlane as a “VIP” experience. They advertise it as “wait less than those who don’t buy it”, which you did. I’m sure the guests who waited four hours for Steel Vengeance would have gladly only waited one. This. Don't expect to buy FL+ on any Saturday, especially Halloweekend Saturdays and expect walk on's to rides like Steel Vengeance, Maverick, or TTD (if it's open). That's just not how it works. The advertisements clearly state "wait less, ride more." I've seen the posted FL wait for Maverick at 90 mins before, whereas the stand by like was 3+ hours. Pick your poison. Also, if you went on a Friday or Sunday this time a year those are the days pass renewers can redeem their free FL+. So there's that, people who probably never buy them (me) will have them and use them.
  21. I was trained on the Skycoaster at GL (cool fact when you're certified as a site controller you can ride any skycoaster in the world for free!) and those tiny cables are very very strong. You can essentially put a car in a harness and swing in that and you'd be fine! If I remember correctly each cable is rated for 2000lbs. Of course, this was almost 18 years ago when I was trained so some things could have changed. lol
  22. They're not a museum. If you want to gift them a not-even-remotely-tax-deductible 10 million dollar donation to keep it running for a few more years then they might reconsider. This, yes it "sucks" when "classic" rides are removed. But amusement parks need to constantly evolve to grow as a business. People need to stop thinking with a narrow mind and realize that parks are only on this earth to make money for the company and or shareholders. If the land a ride sits on becomes more valuable then the ride itself it's time to remove that ride and use that land for something else. Be it a new coaster, restroom, food stand or bench. Sometimes that is better for the park financially then a ride that is old and unpopular among a large portion of the parks guests. Eventually, maybe even 30 years from now rides like Banshee, Diamondback and Orion will be on the chopping block. It's just a matter of time. Nothing will last forever.
  23. My love affair of the Raging Wolf Bobs has more to do with operating the ride for 4 seasons at GL not riding it! lol But.. oddly, I never found RWB rough and I didn't think it needed a trick to ride it to enjoy it. Which does prove that all opinions vary! Which is okay!
  24. ^It's simple, I just won't ride a ride I don't enjoy and I have no problem skipping rides. I'm not in this hobby to credit whore. So if i'm at a park with a ride I know I dislike, don't enjoy, find uncomfortable I'll just move onto something I do like. Which is why I haven't ridden Vortex in probably 5 or so years even tho I go to KI probably 3-5 times a season. Which is why I haven't ridden Corkscrew in about 10 years or Mean Streak for about 5 before it closed. Or I skip over every SLC besides Morey's. Again, I prefer a care free experience. I don't want to have to overthink my body posture and position to have a some what less uncomfortable ride. Just how I feel about rides.
  25. Thats what I did I don't know. I'm just of the opinion that a ride shouldn't need any sort of "trick" to be enjoyable. I don't want to have to get on thinking.. "okay, as long as I'm riding between 6-615pm, it's August, the sun is at a 45 degree angle above the left support and I press my back into the seat while I shove my face in against the right restraint, I cross my legs and wear a mouth guard I'll have a good ride." /s I just want to get on and ride. Hands up and care-free! Also, while a dive coaster would look great there, I would love to see a Mack or maybe a Gerstlauer dive like Hangtime. I also wouldn't mind seeing a family coaster like FireChaser Express make it's way into the park. But.. let's build Orion before we worry about what probably won't even happen till 2023 at the earliest.
