  1. No problem! I enjoy sharing and learning about the history of Canada's Wonderland! I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was quite common for Blauer Enzian coasters to be anchored down by huge water tubs since they couldn't be bolted down as they were originally designed to be a portable coaster as many built had lattice designed support structures. Below is a photo of a Mack Blauer Enzian that travels as "Feuer and Eis" (Fire and Ice) throughout Germany. You can see that the support structure is significantly different compared to an permanent-park Blauer Enzian model. Photo Credit: on-ride.de
  2. I definitely agree! The Reverchon/ Zamperla Spinning coasters are fun, but it would be nice to see some of them get converted as the swinging cars do look like fun! I was quite amazed by them when I had seen them in a test video for the first time a couple of years ago!
  3. Another ridiculous rumour at Canada's Wonderland is Mighty Canadian Minebuster has never had any of it's wood replaced!
  4. There's been a rumour that has been going around for years at Canada's Wonderland where a maintenance worker was decapitated during the initial testing of Thunder Run.
  5. On this day back in 1986, Thunder Run made it's debut as it thundered through Wonder Mountain. But, it wasn't always known as Thunder Run. When the park first opened on May 23rd, 1981, Thunder Run started it's life as a Mack Rides Blauer Enzian which when translated from German into English, means "Blue Gentian", which is a type of flower. The Blauer Enzian was a tight and twisted track where the train powered along at high speeds. Photo Credit: City of Toronto Archives via Vintage Toronto After the 1985 season, Blauer Enzian was relocated, incorporated, and extended into Wonder Mountain for the 1986 season and was renamed Thunder Run. Blauer Enzian's former spot sat relatively empty for many years until 1999, when The Fly, a Mack Rides large park model Wild Mouse occupied the spot and continues to do so until this day. Now, going back to 1986, Thunder Run was advertised on TV through this awesome commercial that aired on many stations in Ontario. While riding Thunder Run, one can expect the coolness and darkness of Wonder Mountain's interior along with strobe lights and an encounter with a dragon, nicknamed Herman. Riders can experience Thunder Run's course twice as it is programmed for two circuits. New for this year on Thunder Run is an up-charge attraction of Virtual Reality. Riders can experience Thunder Run in a whole new dimension by strapping on Virtual Reality goggles. This was tested out last Fall and has become a permanent attraction for visitors to experience. For the 2014 season, Thunder Run's lead car was re-painted blue to pay homage to Thunder Run's previous life as Blauer Enzian. As Thunder Run celebrates 30 years (or 35 years depending on how you look at it), it has always been a favourite that families have flocked to within International Festival for years and will continue to do so for hopefully many years to come.
  6. I would have to say that Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland, The Racer at Kings Island, and Steel Force at Dorney Park all give amazing amounts of airtime!
  7. Asking here is definitely a great start! I frequent the park every two weeks or so. Maybe we could create some sort of Canada's Wonderland group this summer!
  8. Yes, especially those with a Tilt-A-Whirl! Do you like riding the Tilt-A-Whirl?
  9. On Season Pass Sneak Preview Night at Canada's Wonderland the following is what I heard from various visitors: "Wow, Skyhawk looks very tall!" (Meanwhile looking at Windseeker) "Sledgehammer was broken down all last year and that's the truth!" (Then how did I manage to get in almost 20 rides last year?) "Even though the park isn't busy and the guy selling Fastlane told us that, I still decided to purchase Fastlane because I'll be able to ride everything I want to in the same amount of time." (Some people just enjoy wasting their money!) "Of course my daughter will be able to ride Skyhawk, she's 48"!" (Just because she can ride it, doesn't mean she can grab the handles and make the seat flip!) I can't believe I've heard this all in one night! I can't wait to see what else I'll be hearing throughout the rest of the season!
  10. Ghoster Coaster at Canada's Wonderland during Season Pass Sneak Preview Night of Friday!
  11. Gourmet Popcorn isn't new to the park. It's been there for quite a few years now.
  12. Yes, my whole life so far! Have you lived in a car before?
  13. Yes, I had gone to Season Pass Sneak Preview Night. My brother and I were able to get onto the third ride cycle of Skyhawk yesterday evening. It was great other than it was quite difficult getting the seat to flip as it was quite windy. But, I still had an amazing time! Here's my blog which includes photos and some videos of Season Pass Sneak Preview Night.
  14. ♪ ♫ ♬ Might as well jump. Jump! Might as well jump. Go ahead, jump. Jump! ♪ ♫ ♬
  15. Canada's Wonderland 1988!
  16. I am not too familiar with the food plans that the park offers so, I would suggest that you contact the park for further details. But, if it's only for meal combos, than maybe you cannot purchase other food items with the meal plan.
  17. Top Scan Troika Breakdance - not as elaborate as this one I'm sure Music Express Wave Swinger The Breakdance will probably look elaborate as this one at La Ronde. Regardless of how the rides look, they're still amazing additions that should be greatly enjoyed by park visitors. The Mondial Top Scan is really fun as there is one known as Shockwave at my home park, Canada's Wonderland!
  18. A day at Canada's Wonderland is a day like no other.
  19. I'm glad I was able to help! As for Sledgehammer being the only Huss Jump 2, that is correct. It opened in 2003 and there hasn't been one built ever since. It's kind of a shame as it's a great ride. Luckily the park has taken good care of Sledgehammer over the past few years in order to get the downtime greatly reduced. Canada's Wonderland is also home to some rides that are the last of their kind in North America such as Nightmares, which is a Huss UFO and Orbiter, which is a Huss Giant Enterprise. But, it's no surprise that Canada's Wonderland has all these amazing flat rides as they've got the largest collection of them in North America. Back in 2014, Canada's Wonderland also had the second largest collection of coasters with 17, until SkyRider (TOGO Stand-Up coaster) was removed at the end of the season that year. But, luckily it is doing great at Cavallino Matto in Italy as Freestyle! Now, as for which coaster is better when it comes to Behemoth and Leviathan, if you're into airtime, then you're going to love Behemoth. But, if you love speed, then you'll enjoy Leviathan. I greatly enjoy both coasters but, I personally prefer Behemoth more due to the abundance of airtime! If you have any more questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask!
  20. Vortex at Kings Island!
