  1. This list is almost impossible for me to make, as hypers are definitely my favorite type of coaster. Inevitably the order changes, usually with the most recently ridden fairing better. Also, I feel that with all of my favorites, how I rank them relies just as much on the experiences I've had on the ride as it does the actual ride itself (if that makes sense.) Diamondback Goliath (SFOG) Superman (SFNE) Nitro Apollo's Chariot Skyrush Intimidator Magnum XL-200 Superman (SFA) Phantom's Revenge Steel Force Steel Eel Titan Goliath (SFMM)
  2. *Over a decade ago with a different ownership group when the park didn't already announce their new additions for the next year with a totally different type of ride when it wasn't financially expedient to close an existing coaster early since it was expensive to run, generated no in park spending and was tremendously unpopular when the park didn't just pretty much tell people it wasn't opening until the following season. Also, this was at the pinnacle of the "Coaster Wars" and they were building the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world. It didn't need any marketing. This was the proverbial "build and they will come." However, for someone who doesn't know about RMC there's nothing super-special about what they're doing and, IMO, it would require a more "normal" marketing campaign. I've been squarely on the fence the entire time regarding the 17/18 debate and could still see both sides. I was hoping for 17, like everyone, but I'm not disappointed as a lot of the evidence pointed at 18. I will say I am still slightly confused with how fast they are constructing it with 2018 being the goal. Kinda interesting to see RMC Streak and Hurler in the same year. I'll take a 2018 Platinum Pass, please.
  3. King's Dominion 2:50 Carowinds 3:00 Busch Garden's Williamsburg 3:30 None close but several are a pretty easy drive
  4. You're forgetting that in 2019 it'll be Maggie's 30th anniversary. They probably have something planned.
  5. I've said before on here that I find myself sitting squarely on the fence regarding 2017/18. No single piece of info (short of announcement) will convince me either way. That being said, I just wanted to add one more tiny piece to the puzzle. I also completely understand the notion of "this is not from Cedar Fair, this is from RMC and until an announcement we cannot trust what the designer says." However, "no projects in 2017" is a pretty big statement. Again, grain of salt.
  6. It was Coaster Nation that I saw.
  7. I almost hate to even bring this up, but according to one facebook group has reported RMC saying at IAAPA "there's no RMC projects opening in 2017." As always, take with a grain of salt.
  8. Yeah, I just saw them both on Busch Gardens Facebook video. I'm coming around on them actually. I'm not a big fan of the lead car having some sort of "sculpture" on the front that restricts the view. However, most of these seem to be on family style rollercoasters (like Firechaser Express) so since that is what this is being marketed as, I can give this one a pass on that. It's growing on me already.
  9. The trains look great. I remain unconvinced on the figurehead though...
  10. Agree here, but only to an extent. I have skipped Mantis every visit except for my first one. I rode Rougarou this summer and also found it to be a huge improvement and only found one moment where I got a small headbang (more like an earslap.) My wife and father-in-law actively disliked it and rated it next to the bottom of CP's coasters. Both said it was very rough with a lot of headbanging. They would have been miserable on the former ride then.
  11. No joke! That angle makes it look like it's 60 degrees!
  12. What's the deal with Gwazi? Rough ride? Boring? (I ask because I've never been to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. I've only been to BGT once and it was Gwazi's last year. It is the only ride that I've ever ridden that my wife was legitimately mad at me for letting her ride. Top 5 roughest rides I've ever ridden contender for sure. On top of being rough, it was long and rough...
  13. Seeing Invadr going vertical is getting me excited for this as well. I considered going to BGW this year but hearing the announcement as early as they made it made me wait until next year. I haven't been there in like 3 years and that's too long between visits since I live 4 hours away. It seems like they've made a lot of minor improvements over the past few seasons as well. Bottom line is I'm more excited for a small GCI than I should be because it gives me another reason to get to a fantastic park (possibly my favorite) next year.
  14. I must admit, I'm a little confused as to whether you're married to the CEO or TTD. But seriously, it's great to hear from someone with some knowledge.
  15. How are y'all gonna trust this guy when he can't spell the name of the ride!? Just messing man, thanks for the info
  16. What this post proves to me is that Bill would be the champion of "name that Skyride."
  17. Don't kid yourself, you'd never sit on the porch and watch it when you could be sitting on it!
  18. Are you saying duct tape shoes to your thighs? That's the only thing that computes in my head...
  19. Wow! I've ridden that thing but never realized how tall it was.
  20. While Hurler did have an impact on Grizzly, just as much of the clearing can be blamed on Hypersonic. Even after Hurler, the front half of Grizzly was still almost entirely concealed. So glad to see Grizzly getting some love around here. I think it's one of the best woodies in the south.
  21. I wouldn't have guessed that CP's skyride would hit 1 million that quickly/easily. While it's a people eater, I just could easily see it having enough down-time to slow down it's numbers from getting there that quick. I guess it gets closed less frequently than I imagine.
  22. We don't need this kind of negativity around here! Wild mouses (mice?) are my log flume! They are my Skyride! They are a must ride! I'll have non of this heresy!
  23. I love how you say this as if there is some unseen force within you possibly forcing you to ride it. Best... Mouse... Ever...!
  24. Another thing of note is that Denny's is the only sit-down restaurant in a 3-4 mile radius of KD. I found that our when I lost my keys at KD this summer and had to walk to the nearest place to grab some dinner...
