Yeah, I'm somewhat jealous and sad about this. My dad really made my early teen days of enthusiasm possible and took me around to ride my favorite rides. He hasn't been to parks with me in close to 10 years, with the exception of one family trip to BGW. I decided for father's day this year we'd do a throwback and I took him to Carowinds to ride my new favorite, Fury. He has had some blood pressure issues and is on some medication, and said that they gave him some vertigo-ish feelings and afterwards he said he felt that his riding days were numbered. Enjoy that while you can. Side note, I saw an 80-90 year cute old man having to be helped into and out of his seat on I305 this summer. Kudos to that ballsy old guy. Fingers crossed that's me. lol

I, personally have no disparaging remarks towards screamscape. Many people seem to forget what it is, a news and rumors website. You have to take it for what it is. That being said, a launched flyer really had me scratching my head. Not only does that sound like a strange experience, but how many launched coasters does one park need? They're lacking good traditional drops.

That's where my confusion lies... Why would CP and KD host announcement events, only to announce "that's not all?" It just doesn't add up, but we're almost too late in the season to expect that "something else" to be something big. A small part of me wanders if there isn't some outside force keeping them from making the entire announcement when it was scheduled. Unlikely, I just don't understand them this go-round.

Maybe. Do you think it gets that reputation due to its proximity to BGW?

Or they could let the pond freeze and take down the fence so people could go out there. Sell cups and flavored syrup. Boom: Build your own Sno-Cones. Or they could fill the pond with Hot chocolate since it'll be cold and it's self-serve hot chocolate. Step 1: sell cups - step 2:? - step 3: profit! The options are endless! Forgive me... it's a slow Friday at work...

That's the thing with Fury. It keeps getting hyped up for new riders, but it keeps exceeding those expectations. It's that good. Really glad you had a good time and got in all the rides you wanted. I agree that it's a great park that kinda combines that big "corporate park" with a smaller park atmosphere.

I've gotta agree, Bill. We're season pass holders, but I don't think I would drive the 3 hours down there for this kind of event with no coasters, when my town does their own "Dickens of a Christmas" every weekend in December. It's the same thing, just 2 hours and 55 minutes closer...

Other parks aren't sitting on the fricking Great Lakes either. That's their other "wave pool."

Don't get me wrong. Front row probably is my favorite, but I'd happily take rows 2,3,7, or 8 right behind it.

I agree with all these answers. Also, Fury doesn't have a bad seat. Front row has stronger airtime. Back has a better drop. Left side has more Side airtime in the Barrel turn and in the Turnaround. Right side has better transitions over the front gate and a better head-chopper. You aren't going to get a bad seat. Even a ride in the dead-center of the train is fantastic.

Both of those are moderately inexpensive investments, so it doesn't take much to get a return. We're talking full scale rollercoaster here. Can you legitimately get a return on one is what I'm getting at?

I also love the suspended model. But here's the million dollar question... Is it marketable?

Also, you have to think that Aircraft carriers do not launch fighter jets every 90 seconds 12 hours a day. There is a ton more stress put onto this system in the long run.
