What is your next park?
coneyislandchris replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Heading back to SFGAdv this weekend with the family to pick up our new passes and possibly do the safari if it's still open, then maybe either SFNE or TGE on Columbus Day -- we'll see. -
Without any idea on what the crowds are going to be like that day, if you have a good deal on a combo ticket, I say go for it. Bypassing that damn Volcano line is one of the most joyous things you'll ever experience. You probably won't really need it for 305 or Delirium since those don't have tremendously long waits, but if you don't hit Volcano right at opening, expect a mind-numbing slog through the line for about two hours. It's basically equivalent to waiting for Ka and probably the slowest dispatch in any of the Cedar Fair parks I've been to.

Throwing in my vote for the rename; "Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine". It could happen... -
^ Furthermore, regardless of the results, it's still going to be a time and money investment that may not be worth it for whichever park has SLCs. Morey's has decided that it's in their best interest since Nor'easter is one of their flagship coasters and appears on just about every single one of their marketing materials (and looks great lit up at night). Will Six Flags feel the same way about a multi-million dollar investment for their SLCs? I doubt it, but you never know.

Maybe it's just me, but every time I see that there's been a new post in this thread, I get my expectations unreasonably high that they've actually managed to open Gale Force. I would agree with this based off my first visit there yesterday. Most of the storefronts in town seemed to be boarded up and it kind of felt a bit on the desolate side of things. The park was open, but about half the rides were closed, including the Looping Star coaster (probably for the best) and the Gravitron which was in the midst of rehab -- though you could walk right up/on to it if you wanted since they didn't really cordon it off. Would definitely take another trip down to Wildwood or Ocean City any day of the week before I consider coming back to Keansburg to be completely honest.

All I have to say is, after reading Robb's comments over the last few pages... now I have an insatiable craving for some chicken katsu curry. THANKS ROBB. -

Wow -- that's an unexpected and awesome addition! I haven't seen one of those in years. I hope they manage to keep it into next year's season and aren't just getting it on loan for the holiday. -

I hope you do literally mean "summer" and not "season" cause the party dont stop til January! Yes, was being quite literal with the choice of words there. I'm anticipating picking up my new Six Flags passes first weekend of October, and maybe making a trip up to New England around Columbus Day... and then, of course, it's Holiday in the Park as frequently as I can convince the wife to make the trip! -

Twister at Knoebels is most likely my last coaster of the summer. -

Spent the weekend out at Knoebels with the full family. It was pretty packed on both days due to miscellaneous factors; mainly a large employee appreciation event on Saturday, and a combination auto show and doggie dive event on Sunday. Even with the larger than expected crowds, operations were totally on point as they always are around here. We didn't wait more than 10 minutes for any ride between the two days, with the notable exception of Twister on Saturday; they were running both trains, but only loading the red one. The blue train was being sent around empty every cycle. Since my one-year-old daughter was in tow, we ended up primarily concentrating on the kiddie rides and ones with low/no height requirement, with a few exceptions. My son and I hit up Phoenix and Twister multiple times, and one of those times on Phoenix he even rode it with his grandmother (who's not typically a coaster person)! My daughter got on the Balloon Race, which she loved. Then she did the Merry Mixer, which... um... let's say she was less than merry about. We all hit up the train rides and antique cars, which offer fantastic views of Phoenix and Twister from underneath. I know a lot of enthusiasts tend to skip these, but I can't recommend them enough for a great relaxing cool down. My son and I did the Flyers as many times as we could, and riding them again simply reinforces my belief that these are the best set of flyers you'll find anywhere. It looks like Knoebels just won best amusement park food in the Golden Tickets again. Say what you will about their coaster rankings, but I can't deny that their choice of award for food is anything but spot on. Every last bit of food we got throughout our two days was amazing. People always rave about the pierogies, and as much as I love them, I think the potato cakes are my personal favorite! Overall, an absolutely fantastic weekend away with the family at a park that I will never say no to visiting. I've loved it here ever since I was a kid, and am so glad to be able to introduce it to my children as well. Its classic charm is so refreshing and just simply something that you don't find at too many of the major regional parks these days. -

Lucky you. He was several people in front of us when the kid and I were getting ready to ride Mean Streak, and even though the station was full of people, that was the only person we could hear, as he was excitedly talking loud enough to the other folks in line to be a damn tour guide. *sigh* -

Crazy Mouse at DelGrosso's, since it was on the way home from Cedar Point. Would not say it was worth the wait. -

Great White is definitely the star of the show for me. I hadn't ridden it prior to this season so I can't comment on how it might have used to run, but as of right now, it's a wild ride and a whole lotta fun. Never been on Nor'easter and I don't regret not getting the credit. I've been fooled one too many times by SLCs to get fooled again. -

I don't personally think it's a coaster but since the park counts it as a coaster I will gladly take the credit! I too think it's a good ride! Pipe Scream ended up being a three-in-a-row for my kid; was his favorite non-coaster ride in the park. I've definitely softened my stance on Millennium Force. I think my disappointed reaction after my initial ride was influenced too much by me expecting it to be like 305; even though they're both gigas, they're two totally different rides and different experiences. Doing two morning rides back-to-back thanks to early entry gave me a new appreciation for it, and I gotta admit, it's just a hella fun ride from start to finish. And on top of that, the kiddo says it's his new favorite coaster! So who am I to argue. We got the Mean Streak credit, but at the expense of him not wanting to go on any other coasters for the rest of the day. "IT WAS SOOOO BUMPY DADDY." And yes we did the front seat lean-forward. I was grabbing onto that bar for dear life, but nooo, he wanted to do hands up the whole ride... Sorry we seemingly missed you by steps all over, Bill, but judging by the photos you were posting, it looked like you guys were having a plenty good time with Rougabrew anyway -
Oldest Coaster You've Ridden

Did Leap the Dips yesterday with my son on our way back from Cedar Point. Was not expecting much, but it ended up being a ton of fun. I think the lack of seatbelts and lapbars really increased the fun factor for us. Heck, for that matter, I was shocked that not a single one of the Lakemont coasters had seatbelts. I really can't remember the last time I saw that at a park. I like it though! Skyliner with buzz bars only was awesome. Toboggan was... well, it was Toboggan.
