SFFT - hit Superman w/ VR first. Goliath's line gets really short late in the day but it's mobbed earlier. Unless Iron Rattler night rides are an absolute must, you can also leave the park early and head up to Seguin for ZDT's and use their last 3 hours deal. Switchback is awesome and it's only $12 per person for the "do everything" wristband. It's also sort of halfway to Austin so it's not too far out of the way. There's not that much to do at SFFT anyway so it won't be hard to squeeze ZDT's in at all. The place rocks and even if you're not into arcade games or waterslides the food is better and cheaper than SFFT (except Old Blue's BBQ at SFFT which is actually priced pretty fairly and better than any of the other food at the park) and the coaster is worth it by itself and better than most of the coasters at SFFT. Definitely consider checking the place out. SFOT is sort of a hit or miss. If you're getting a Platinum Flash Pass you should be fine with lines, even with putting other stuff into those days so instead I'll give you tips on where to sit on rides: -NTaG, Runaway Mountain, Runaway Mine Train, and ShockWave are all back row rides. All except ShockWave are good in other rows too, but ShockWave's front row ride has nothing on the awesomeness of its back row ride -Mr Freeze is equally weird and amazing in any seat but front and back are probably both better than the middle. -Judge Roy Scream is a front row ride. SDC is amazing and the only tips I can give you are ride all the coasters in the front and the back, eat cinnamon bread and skillet food, and do the cave tour if you have the time. SFStL doesn't have that much and I got Justice League, all of the wooden coasters, the mine train, and Mr Freeze done in 3 hours when I was there during Fright Fest, so it shouldn't be too hard to get everything done. Ninja is probably skippable if you don't care about credits. The Boss is very fun but you might want to ride it Mean Streak style and sit in the front leaning forward. It's nowhere near smooth. Screamin' Eagle in a non-wheel seat near the back of the train is amazing, and ride American Thunder multiple times. The mine train in the back row is hilariously fun especially with that last drop. As for stuff to do around the St Louis area, the Gateway Arch, Ted Drewe's, and the City Museum all come to mind. Holiday World - Get there at park opening, do Voyage and Thunderbird first, then change and go to the waterpark. Hit Mammoth and then Wildebeest. Then change back and go do Legend and Raven. That seems to be the best order to do things from the day I was there. Others probably have better advice though. I haven't been to KK but I've heard the general consensus of riding Lightning Run first as apparently Storm Chaser is sort of hidden in the back of the park and doesn't really get lines? I don't know but that's what I've heard. Cedar Point advice is all over the forums but anyway here's a few tips: Early entry to get to Maverick, then Millennium Force. If you're not going to be using early entry then just go ahead and do whatever as I assume you've budgeted for FL+. Valravn, Gatekeeper, and Raptor lines all get shorter later in the day. Maverick and Valravn will usually have the longest waits. Mean Streak is strictly a front row ride and it's generally advised that you lean forward. Magnum is best ridden in either the second or third row of the first car, or the first row of the last car with your seatbelt tightened to the point where you physically cannot tighten it any more. I did a similar trip during mid-June, which might have some things you could use to your advantage. I'd also recommend asking each individual park thread as many locals know their parks much better and can give you more detailed advice that will help you maximize your days spent at the parks. Have fun with your trip!

I sort of want to get NL2 and rebuild Magnum Youth XL to see what the negative g-force would actually be at the crest of the bunny hops, lol -

^That's honestly really awesome. Seems like it's working as a marketing tool as well since non-enthusiasts are mentioning Cedar Point in discussions about the game. -

I've heard Cedar Point has over 100 but I don't know if that's actually true since I heard it from some random non-enthusiast person on some random forum elsewhere and didn't bother to check. -

Nah it was smooth, it just had an awkward flow of elements that led to me getting a g-force headache every time I rode. What's even weirder is, I was probably more hydrated at Kings Island than I've been on any other day of my life. I probably drank two gallons of water that day. I also rode in the front row 2 out of the three times and in the 5th row the third time. Definitely not rough at all, just not really that rerideable. The vest restraints also kicked it down a notch for me as well.

Yeah I'd expect that Boss would be prone to valleying and we already saw what happened with Pandemonium @ SFNE and high winds. -

I did MF for #50 as we went to Maverick first and then I realized that I was at 48, so we did Rougarou to make MF #50. I'd say go for either Maverick, MF, TTD, or Magnum but honestly it's up to you and it doesn't matter that much. -

Wow your such a fanboy. No. I'm a realist. I'm pretty sure most parks would do a better job than Six Flags. Cedar Point though (as far as corporate parks go) is one of the better ones in terms of efficiency. I'd actually probably say that Cedar Point is actually the best park in terms of operations that I've been to. Kings Island and Holiday World come close but everywhere else I've been is average at best. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
LiftThrill replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Awesome! I don't think I'll get around to any coaster riding this week but I do have a SFOT trip planned for next week, so for now I'm pretty sure that the last coaster I rode was Switchback at ZDT's last week. -

During HitP, SFStL will literally turn into Holiday World. They have the wooden coasters, they have the launch coaster, they have the dark ride, and during that time they'll have the theming too. They can finally stop being budget Holiday World and become the real deal. In all seriousness though Holiday in the Park is very awesome at SFFT so I'd imagine it would be equally awesome at SFStL especially with the wooded setting. -

When I was there, the MF line was always about at the FL+ merge point anyway (and yes they push trains out insanely fast, so it's never much of a wait anyway), but it is something to note. For Maverick on a less busy day (normal line was around 30 minutes) the FL+ queue was only 5 minutes for the front row. It all depends on the crowds which is why it's best to budget for FL but not commit until you're sure. -

Can't wait to see the announcement! A modern-style wooden coaster would be a great fit at KI and definitely be one of the more intense rides at the park if not the most intense. -

Yeah I went ahead and bought a FL+ ahead of time knowing that even if the longest line was 20 minutes it would be worth it to me- do note that some rides' FL lines are a little weird. MF's only gets you halfway through the queue and Iron Dragon doesn't have one at all. However the busiest rides like Maverick, TTD, and Valravn get you right to the station and end up saving a ton of time. -

If you're using early entry, then go Maverick->Millennium Force. After that then you can do Rougarou if you'd like (since it's right in the area). Once opening time rolls around, then you can go check crowds and decide whether or not you'll need FL+. Rides that will pull the longest lines throughout the day are Valravn, TTD and Maverick and these are where you probably want to use FL the most. I was there on a dead day (TTD walk-on all but front row), but FL+ skipped a 90 minute wait for Valravn and a 30 minute wait for Maverick while everything else was pretty much a walk-on or station wait. -

The difference is insane after and during the rain. I rode MF right when it stopped raining once and that was the single best ride on anything I've ever had. -

Really? I have had trouble with Gatekeeper, Wild Eagle and Thunderbird. It ruined what could of been a great coaster in Thunderbird. Im skinny and its brutal My legs are fairly muscular, so that may be why I haven't noticed. And I never push the restraint down very far when buckling in. Or maybe I'm just not even paying attention to it. Now I'm gonna notice it next time. Thanks, guys It's not a leg thing, just a hip thing. I think it only affects skinny/bony people like me so if you're muscular then you probably won't notice it. -
It will probably stay that way after you ride Headache: The Ride, but maybe you'll like it, and chances are you'll like it more than I do, at the very least. I totally agree with NTaG- I can't decide between NTaG, Outlaw Run, Maverick, or Millennium Force as my favorite coaster though when I put them in an order I do tend to put MF (barely) ahead of NTaG. ShockWave without VR might also be better than with. I think VR makes coasters feel less forceful and that's one of ShockWave's strong points. It doesn't always click with people but even if it doesn't it's still really fun. Mr Freeze is seriously the most hilarious ride ever and way more fun than it deserves to be. It sits snugly in my top ten steel even after adding a ton more from my recent trip. Seriously, that thing rocks. As for BTR it's awesome but there are two others in the state. This is the smoother and more forceful clone between the ones at the Texas SF parks though. Runaway Mountain is way more intense than it seems and incredibly fun, the mine train is historic but the lift hills are super painful if you don't brace yourself. Even if you're not into drop towers or swing rides, S:ToP and the Texas Sky Screamer are both great and some of my favorite flats. Great to see that you're having fun! Enjoy the park!
