Worst Coaster Ever?
Beni_Rodriguez replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Boss @ SFSTL. I rode it once this year and vowed to never get on it again. By far the roughest wooden roller coaster I have been on. -
Going to parks alone?
Beni_Rodriguez replied to alilstronger's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I laughed out loud during the "...wah...wah..wah." part. The reason being is that although I have never gone to a park solo yet, I have gotten off rides all pumped up and seen that those around me did not share the same sentiments. There really should be some sort of forum area where site members can hook up with people at parks if they go solo. I don't care what differences there may be between an absolute stranger and I; if they are a roller coaster ethusiast I am sure I will get along with them. Well....for the most part. -
Rides You Can't Ride?
Beni_Rodriguez replied to DoinItForTheFame's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Boss @ SFSTL. I rode it once this year. That was more than enough. My back screamed in pain after getting off this ride. I rode Hellcat at TimberFalls Adventure Park ( 30 ) times in one day this year. I'm 35 years old. That won't happen again. My body ached for days. -
Wisconsin- Hellcat. Illinois- Raggin' Bull Missouri- American Thunder Indiana- Hurricane Hoosier Hellcat is a very rough ride. Not nearly as smooth as Zippin' Pippin. Not nearly as high as Hades360. No known portion of the track like Cyclops; yet Hellcat is the best roller coaster in Wisconsin. It won't continue to be the best roller coaster in Wisconsin if its owner does not give it the proper maintenance it deserves. They need more traffic for their rollercoaster coaster to have the funds to maintain it properly. I'll contribute next year by frequenting their park. Raggin' Bull. This is what Superman claims to be. You feel as if you are flying in the air. 202 foot drop. Missouri- On my first visit to Six Flags St. Louis this Summer a woman from Missouri asked me, sarcastically, "what's in Wisconsin?". BETTER ROLLER COASTERS than Missouri. American Thunder it is. Boss? Seriously.....almost as poor of an investment as the Bears signing Cutler to a long term contract. Indiana- Hurricane Hoosier. I would have said Cornball express. That's how I felt when I left Indiana Beach this Summer while on my first visit there. But, after thinking about it for a long time this is the best roller coaster in Indiana. I can't wait until I get on it again.

Can't say for sure whether attending again the last week of Fright Fest would be good or not next year. Lines were probably an issue most of the day but weren't an issue when we were there. If crowds are similar next year, then we'd be buying a season pass for I'm not sure what. May and June could be ok, they could be horrible. It took a month of Goliath being open for the place to be worse than ever. The delay may have been due to kids making up snow days, I don't know. Let's say crowds are horrible all next season. You're essentially buying a pass for the ERT days and the last days of Fright Fest. Or the occasional day when rains scares everyone away. I couldn't agree with you more! The crowds were always outrageous when we went this year. SFGA involves too much walking and too much waiting. You must chose the days carefully as you mentioned. I'll be getting a Cedar Point season pass to check out their parks next year.

The park was just packed last night! I didn't get to experience how the ride ops were working on the rides you described as I didn't ride them. I did ride American Eagle. They were running ( 3 ) trains and I think they were for the most part running it as quickly as they could. I'm sure they have certain rules with running ( 3 ) trains at once that may have held up the lines. I believe they had a total of ( 6 ) operators for American Eagle. They do take safety seriously. On one occasion while going up the hill lift an operator got on a speaker telling somebody to put their cell phone away. The operator did let us reride once on our last ride. There was nobody waiting in line for the last two rows we were in. Unfortunately a group came up and chose the back seats so we decided to get off. The queque for American Eagle is extremely long. During the last few hours it takes longer to get off and walk around to get back on than the actual waiting time while in line. I must say that American Eagle felt very smooth! However, it felt as if it has been tamed by trim breaks. There was one ride where we actually were right next to the other train even on the helix. The Demon was runned well. The operator sent off a train and a second later he stopped it before it had left the station because somebody had their cell phone out. Part of the problem is the general public. Some people take their sweet time which holds up the rest of us. If you have a hat or something you need to leave do it quickly! On the Demon as soon as they unlached the safety harness the gates open. I had to yell at my daughter once because she almost sat in the seat while the other person was still getting out. They were running ( 3 ) trains on Demon too. Viper. This had the slowest operations out of the three roller coasters I went on last night. Again, I'm not sure if this is because they have rules about waiting until other trains come back. The ride is very smooth, but uneventful and underwhelming to me sitting in the middle of the train. The park was pretty damn clean. Especially considering the amount of people that were there last night. I often saw employees inside the bathroom cleaning. I'm not trying to be pro-Six Flags. I just wanted to share my experience last night. I'm all about getting on rides as soon as possible and not waiting in long lines. We had to be selective last night. I'm sure if we wanted to we could have gotten on a few flat rides, but even those seemed busy! They did have a place set up where you could take free pictures with a man who I swear was the smallest man I've every seen in my life! That was pretty neat. The front entrance was very nicely decorated.

We arrived at SFGAm last night at 08:40 p.m. After buying a 1/2 off season pass bring a friend ticket we were off. The place was packed. About 85% percent of their parking spots were taken. That includes the parking lot on the other side of the security guard posts. Luckily, people were leaving in masses as we were entering. I don't think I will come again next year on the first night of Fright Night again. Goliath had a 2 hour 30 minute wait. No thanks. I still haven't been on this roller coaster. At 11:15 p.m. the line was only 45 minutes, but everybody had to pee and my daughter chickened out. Sometime this year I have to get on Goliath. Probably will take me running to it at opening time or getting the flash pass. American Eagle, now known as the super spooky "Black Widow" had a 30 minute line. So did Viper until about 11 p.m. Anyways we rode Demon ( 3 ) times, American Eagle ( 3 ) times, and Viper once. It was just too damn busy to get on any other rides. I mean even Batman had a 40 minute wait. It's not 1989 anymore. I'm not going to wait 40 minutes to get on the 30 second ride. Park was VERY clean as were the bathrooms.

The 18 and up rule is no longer being enforced. I went to Mount Olympus this weekend and the Saturday previous and I believe for the most part the operator was the same person. Even with the other operator nothing was said to the people who came on the trip with me who were 10, 11, and 14 years old. That rule really does not make any sense to me. Nobody has ever been flung out of their seat while on Cyclops. It seems the ride was so geniously created that it gives the impression that you may fall out of your seat, but I felt as if the forces being put on your body actually make you stay glued to your seat. I found that the last row or the second to the last row on Cyclops are basically the same thing. The airtime drop is still good in the thrid car from the back, but certainly not as good. If you are under 18 and concerned about this I don't think there would be a problem. Especially if you go with an adult on your first ride. They do have seatbelts on this ride. I recommend not only carefully putting them on correctly prior to the start of the ride, but also to checking them before the drop of death. The belt did get loose on me a few times, but that "may" have been my own fault. Either way I am an unknown roller coaster enthusiast, but if I died on Cyclops I would become immortal.

I went to Mt. Olympus again this weekend. I rented a two bedroom room with a small roll in bed along with entrance to their indoor water theme park and outdoor theme park for five people for Friday 09/19/14 and Saturday 09/20/14 for $103.00. That's basically $10 per person per day for entrance into the park and hotel. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. This is what I take is running every Friday for the rest of the year. Zeus, Cyclops, and Pegasus. Hades 360 was closed on Friday. If you have read about or experienced Mount Olympus during it's peak Summer days you will be pleasantly surprised by it's operations during the off-season in September. When we went this Friday there were about ( 40 ) cars in the parking lot. I would guess that there were about ( 200 ) people all together in the park. There may have been ( 50 ) people trying to get on their ( 3 ) running coasters at best Friday. For the most part you could get off and reride with little to no wait. Pretty bad a** in my opinion. Zeus ( 6 rides ). I was disappointed that Zues was down last Saturday. I thought it was a better ride than it currently is. I was mistaken. The track needs to be refurbished. It is a very rough ride. The hill of doom you must climb followed by the stairs of doom leading up to the queque made this ride not a reride marathon Cyclops would ultimately become for me. Cyclops ( 12 rides ). The lines are short. Rerides are allowed. The operator for this ride is awesome. He is laid back and allowed for rerides provided nobody else was trying to get on. Besides Pegasus the walk off the coaster and back on it is shorter and not as steep as Hades 360 or Zues. The buzz bars are awesome on this ride. It's a smooth ride. The drop of death is awesome! It appears to have been refurbished as the track prior to the drop of death is grey while the drop of death portion looks like they just chopped it off a tree. One of the coolest things I like about the drop of death portion of Cyclops is it's presentation. There were always people constantly standing, watching, and often taking pictures of people coming down the drop. It's just such a bad a** roller coaster. Probably the best roller coaster under 2,000 feet in the midwest. Pegasus ( 4 rides ). I have no idea why I rode this ( 4 ) times, especially considering that I had been on this before. I rode it because it's a wooden roller coaster. I rode it because I am a credit whore. I rode it because it was there. Saturday was busier. I would say that there were approximately ( 4 ) times more people at Mount Olympus' outdoor theme park. Hades 360 is open on Saturday and Zues is closed. We arrived at Mount Olympus at 09:30 a.m. on Saturday. They open at 10:00 a.m. We were the first people to arrive at the park. Slowly people began to come. We immediately went to Hades 360. Hades 360 ( 3 rides ). We got on the first ride of the day. During our ( 30 ) minute wait in the parking lot prior to them opening we didn't see them test Hades 360 once. I hope they tested it out before running it. We got on the first train to be dispatched and we waited for about ( 10 ) minutes prior to having the train dispatched. Evidently Mount Olympus the following rule: No trains will be sent unless the train is completely full. Unless there is a maintenance issue with any of the cars, in which case Mount Olympus retains the right to shut down that car for the entire day and thus slow down their operations even more. Do not try to get on Hades 360 with uneven party numbers. Single riders often times have to get up out of their seat to sit with other single riders. So as a single rider don't expect to be able to ride in the back where it's bad a** and fun. You may have to be moved to the front with a stranger who has huge breasts or it could be a 8 year old boy who is riding a roller coaster for the first time. Breasts and young boys should never be written in the same sentence. Remember that. Hades 360 is a great ride. It's not great enough for me to be willing to wait ( 30 ) minutes to get on it when I can walk down to Cyclops and get on it almost non-stop. Cyclops ( 15 rides ). Yep yep. P.S. On my first Hades 360 ride on Saturday my lap bar got stuck. I was stuck along with a younger girl in the first row. I was sitting there for 10 to 15 minutes while a maintenance guy tried to get me loose. He finally loosened it enough to where I could get out. Do not make eye contact with the public that has now swelled from nobody to being ( 3 ) rides deep. Walk of shame to Cyclops cometh.

How many times the same ride in a day ?
Beni_Rodriguez replied to mingsai's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode Hellcat at Timberfalls Adventure Theme Park ( 30 ) times in one day this year. This was physically demanding. I had bruises days after riding it. I don't think I will ever do this again. The ( 5 ) times you get to ride it with their current bracelet deal is sufficient enough in my opinion. I rode Zippin Pippin ( 27 ) times in a two day period. If anybody was ever trying a marathon I could see somebody easily riding Zippin Pippin ( 100 ) times without it being too physically demanding. The ride is pretty smooth except for the brief zero G spot. I rode Cyclops ( 27 ) times over two consecutive days. This too was physically demanding for me as I went yesterday and have a stiff neck. All of the above mentioned rollercoasters could easily be targeted if somebody has some sort of reason or motivation to ride a roller coaster an obscene amount of times in one day. Hellcat during non-peak days/hours has nearly no traffic. Zippin Pippin is the same. If you really want to break your own personal records Cyclops should be hit on a Friday in September when traffic is very slow. -
Best Drops....
Beni_Rodriguez replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Drop of death on Cyclops at Mount Olympus in back row. Best drop near the end of a roller coaster I've experienced. First drop on Hades 360 in back row. The best first drop I've experienced that doesn't involve a lift hill. -
I went to Mount Olypmus yesterday. They were open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It was cold i when we arrived at 1230 p.m. There was more traffic initially. At about 3 p.m. it appeared that the lines, for whatever reason, had decreased by at least 1/3. Here are some very positive things from my experience: 1) Tickets are $10.00 each 2) You pay no parking fee. 3) Traffic was light. Their outside water park is closed. 4) You could actually get on Hades360 in less than half an hour. Sometimes the end of the line was halfway up the stairs, which equals about a 15-20 minute wait. Cyclops lines were short. For almost the entire day our wait after getting off the ride was between 5 to 10 minutes. Pegasus' lines were about the same. The only negative thing was Zeus was down. Mechanical failure? For a wooden roller coaster and with the amount of money they generate I highly doubt it. I think the traffic was low enough that they didn't think they would need to run all of their roller coasters. Saves money on wear and tear to ride, workers etc etc. I rode Cyclops ( 9 ) times, Hades360 ( 5 ) times, and Pegasus ( 3 ) times. For $10 that is a considerable value. There are restaurants a few blocks down the street from Mount Olympus. The prices at Mount Olympus are high. We went to McDonalds down the street. It took ( 30 ) minutes for us to drive there, go through the drive through, eat, and then walk back inside the theme park. I saved at least $25 for each McDonalds visit. We went twice. $50 bucks saved by not eating inside Mount Olympus.

I rode Hades360 once a few weeks ago. The ride was pretty smooth to me. Now, if you are looking for a rough ride try Hellcat down the street. Even though it's rough, I still think Hades is bad ass. I haven't been on a more intense wooden rollercoaster in the Wisconsin/Illinois/Indiana/Missouri area.

Worst Coaster Experience
Beni_Rodriguez replied to airforcekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hellcat. I rode it ( 30 ) times in one day this year. The last few rides tested out my leg strength. On one of the last few rides my body was thrashing back and forth as my legs could no longer take it. That is not to say it is not a great ride. At times it is my favorite wooden roller coaster that I have been on. When it's running rough not so much so. -
I rode Boss once this year. I could have rode it several times, but after being beaten down by it I promised never to get on it again. Not until something is done, if possible, to make the ride less of a beating (I'm not even asking for smoothe at this point.) Is this ride so rough because of it's design or because of a lack of TLC by SFSTL?

What type of enthusiast are you?
Beni_Rodriguez replied to arby's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Coaster Rider - For you, it's all about the ride. It really doesn't matter what it looks like or what forces it has, what's important is the ride experience. You continue to reride subpar coasters hoping to find one seat with a good experience. You are hoping to be reborn as a water dummy and have even created a facebook water dummy group. You have an army of water dummies in your basement who answer to you and are your primary followers on Twitter. I'm all about riding a ride as many times as possible. Two days ago I rode Hellcat at TimberFalls Adventure park in Wisconsin Dells ( 30 ) times. The week prior I rode Zippin Pippin ( 18 ) times. I would ride coasters even more, but usually the people I go with aren't about riding a ride ( 30 ) times. I'm also all about talking about the entire coaster experience. I didn't see that type of enthusiast on the list. I love to talk about each coasters stats, name, location in park, queque, operations, course layout, etc. etc. The people I go with aren't really overly interested in talking about the experience afterward. -
Unlock door. Spread eagle. Make the weirdest creepiest face when lady opens the door. Lesson learned. Lady no longer will torture others.
