  1. Finally! Someone else that knows how to ride Dominator!!! Yeah Dominator in the back is outstanding. Thanks to the pre drop it rips down the first drop in a pretty impressive way and that seat also provides great hang time in the loop and nice pop of floater air off the midcourse. The first drop is the best reason to ride in that seat though. I just got off of Dominator in the back, and Jesus it was an amazing expirenced, I rode it in the second row before that, and it was good, but nothing outstanding. The best part about the back is everyone holds up the front of the que, so if you have fast lane the back is a one of two train wait.
  2. I'm so excited for my trip to BGW next summer. I'm in VA at the moment, but only had 1 day to do a park and I figured Kings Dominions was a better one day park, Busch Gardens definitely looked more like a 2 day park with everything in it.
  3. I'm guessing the 21 minute dispatches were with VR?? Even so that's godawful, I know DDD has had horrendous dispatches with VR but I don't think they've been close to 21 minutes. Oh, I forgot about VR. But still, that's totally unacceptable, even with VR. Really hoping that VR gets turned off the major attractions at parks. I've never been to SFA but considering what I've heard about their attendance, VR should be a snaz at this park.
  4. With the family additions they got this year and the Justice League they're really rounding out the park well. I know everyone wants an Iron Horse Cycloe or GASM but I think they're both incredible coasters the way they are, if we are to get a Rocky Mountain addition in the coming years I would like a custom built one from the ground up.

  6. I haven't been to Carowinds since 2012, but I remember the operations on Intimitador being top notch, and with all 3 trains running, compare that to SFGAM and the triple stacking of Raging Bull.
  7. The sad part about VR on DDD is while it was never a great capacity, the operations were at least good most of the time. Some might even say great by Six Flags standard, especially when they had all 4 cars running.
  8. I've ridden the same 3 as you, well I rode it as Chang, but of those 3 the only discomfort I ever expirenced was slight force on the back of my legs on Chang, and honestly I think it had to do more with the length of the ride, as it's duration is longer than both Vortex and Scorcher. I think that's my main problem with it. I hated the leg pain and it was very awkward for a lot of the ride. But the first drop, loop and dive loop were really great! Then after that the ride started to get worse and worse until it just ruined the whole ride. And I'm pretty tolerant of pain on rides. If the ride ended in about 20 seconds it would be fine, but that would make for a lame and uninspired layout. That's why Georgia Scorcher imo is the perfect stand up. It's short, sweet and compact.
  9. So, I'm hitting up Kings Dominion for the first time Sunday. I'm not going to be able to stay all day, as we're driving to visit family outside of DC, but to make the most of my visit, I'm going to get the one day ticket and fl+ combo they have. Now, my home parks are SFOG and Dollywood, so I'm use to the qbot system, I know FL is a wristband system, my question is, does it lead you right into the station?? Also, I know SFOG has assigned rows for some of the rides on the Flash Pass like Batman and Scream Machine, what's the deal at Kings Dominion, assigned or choose your own?

  11. Is American Eagle still flash passless?? We went two years ago in July, and if it hadn't been for Flash Passes we would have had a miserable time, the only line we actually had to wait in besides the food lines were the ones for American Eagle though.
  12. While I do agree that it would be cool for SFOG to finally break something over 200ft in the coaster department, height isn't everything. I mean look at Maverick, at Cedar Point standards it's one of the shortest coasters in the park, but most people rank it as Top 2 in the park.
  13. So the guest picked up the suspicious backpack?? That seems scary, I would have alerted someone and not touched it, especially if there was suspicioun that it might have been a bomb or something of that sort. It's a crazy world we live in.
  14. I'm sure Fury is a great ride' date=' but I really don't think one ride can make up for a lackluster lineup, which Carowinds has. .[/quote'] Actually it does. It really makes the park that much more enjoyable. With Carowinds, Fury 325 has reintroduced a lot of people back to the park and they now have a more favaroble view of it. Also, with the addition of Carolina Harbor this year, its like a 1-2 punch. ALSO, with the addition the 5 new flats next year . . . Carowinds will be launched into an even more favorable catagory. I like both parks but I feel right now, Carowinds has more charm and seems to be gravitating towards its roots while SFoG has more value and seems to not care about much else. I would love to see more done with the original six flags that ruled over the area vs just plopping a DC ride/section here and there. I'm not big on water parks so Carolina Harbor won't change my view at all. And Afterburn was my favorite ride at Carowinds during my two visits, but it's no BTR and I walked away thinking that even thought it was a decent coaster, if was severely overhyped, and Intrimitador is a complete bore after the firs drop, Carolina Cobra was decent for a boomerang but that's not saying much, CA Cyclone is the most painful and my least favorite coaster in my count, Vortex was just boring, Nighthawk had a great setting, but I'm not a fan of flying coasters in general, and at least the B&M flyers have the pretzel loop to keep it interesting. Also, I'm glad they're getting a new flats collection but that still doesn't change the fact that they have a weak coaster lineup outside of Fury. Again, this is all my opinion, and I'm looking forward to riding Fury one day, but I'm not holding my breath for the rest of the park, it had it's few times to impress me and failed. Also, I think SFOG has done more than plop a dc ride area here and their. Their new kids area seems like it'll be a big hit, and I'm anxious to see what they're going to do with the removal of the Bumepr Cars.
  15. I'm sure Fury is a great ride, but I really don't think one ride can make up for a lackluster lineup, which Carowinds has. IMO the second best ride at Carowinds was Thunder Road, that's how lacking their line up was.
  16. Anyone that goes to CP on Memorial Day weekend or Disney are expecting lines, I've never been to Dorney, but if the lines are as non existent as they claim, a 10 min wait for regulars would probably be like a 3 hour wait to most people.
  17. People in the park now need to go to the other side and discover the fantasticness that is Thunderhead then. Thunderhead is great and Wild Eagle is tied with Thunderbird for my favorite wing coaster. 2 years ago on my first visit which was two days Thunderhead was one train and it rained off and on, so I only got to ride it twice, and I wasn't impressed at all. Then last year, we did another two day trip, and Thunderhead was closed, my best friend got me a season pass for my birthday, and this year I've been twice and both days Thunderhead was a walk on, and I finally got the hype I've always heard about it, it truly is a great ride, and turned into one of my favorite woodies, it's just so fast paced and the CGI curviness is just beautiful.

  19. I haven't been to Carowinds since 2012, so I've yet to ride Fury 325, so without taking that into account I think SFOG blows Carowinds out of the water. Goliath, Batman and Scorcher are 10x better rides than Intimidator, Vortex and Afterburn, you have the chains only eurofighter, while a capacity nightmare is a great ride, Mindbender also beats out anything at Carowinds, then you have unique stuff like Monster Mansion which is just fun, also while Windseekers are taller than Skyscreamers, they are also 10x more boring and mundane.
  20. Are they ever going to add Lightning Rods wait time to the app??? Since, it's officially opened and all.
  21. I've always assumed had they not redone Ninja, they probably would have stuck the VR on it. DDD being low capacity as it is, never made a lot of sense.
  22. I'm not sure if this has been answered or not yet, but how come during May, Dollywood is closed every Tuesday???
  23. It received two trains and to this day runs notably smoother than it did with the Vekoma trains. I've never found it very rough because my height puts me above the shoulder restraints, but there was still a relatively significant difference between the Vekoma trains and the Arrow trains that replaced them. I'm sure with the new restraints and track work the ride will be acceptably smooth, and the layout is really solid too so there is no reason to get rid of it. It's actually one of my favorite coasters but I can understand how the roughness ruins it for some people. Luckily that's being addressed and invested into fairly aggressively. I'm glad some people are more optimistic, I just feel no amount of work will ever make Ninja acceptably smooth. Another thing that bugs me about the whole reprinting thing is Ninja looked fine the way it was, as crappy of a ride as it was, it was visually fine, they should have spent the time and money on repainting Scotcher, Goliath or Superman. I completely agree with that. I understand the intent is to rebrand it and market it but I think it is backfiring for them. On Facebook, the GP is so distracted by the name and color change that they think that is all the park is doing. It is taking away from the emphasis on the new restraints and track work which is what really matters since that's what people dislike about it. It's also sad to take a decently themed ride, and turn it into something generic while wasting the perfectly good themed aspects and trying to convert the look into something else. Plus a large number of their Facebook fans commenting seem fairly passionate about the name Ninja. Scorcher needs a paint job so much at the moment. The last repaint was obviously poor paint/work and on a budget because it fell apart after one season. They need the same paint used on X2 at SFMM because that job still looks great years later. Superman too but at least it is just faded as opposed to cracked, pealing, and rusted throughout. I think Goliath looks fine though. Faded a good bit, but it looks fine still. SFOG is such a beautiful park, but walking to the front gates and passing by Scorcher might give people that have never visited a negative first impression in regards to upkeep because you're right, it's awful looking, the inversions are caked in grease or oil and the paint is chipped everywhere, and it's sad because if you look at pictures from the past Scorcher is a beautiful looking piece of machinery.

  25. I'm curious why everyone thinks new trains will make a better ride, when GASM closed and Ninka received one of its trains, it rode better for like half a season, then it was back to garbage, I say burn it down and put anything in it's place.
