  1. No idea. It's too obscure. I think it's safe to assume everyone is stumped. Next person who draws, think about choosing a coaster that is at least somewhat recognizable.
  2. Great find, gerstlaueringvar. Google translate to the rescue: "This comprehensive project will include a variety of functions TV studio, office and business and so on. A huge building with glass walls so that the formation of Chaoyang Park, visual continuity, and has been extended to the surrounding neighborhoods. Rain will follow the huge inflow of steel helical rib sump, these recycled rainwater will be used to irrigate the surrounding landscape plants. Double skin structure will effectively reduce energy consumption and to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature."
  3. I <3 you, HTC. I've been completely satisfied with my EVO 4G LTE. Long battery life, fast as hell, and infinitely customizable. When I'm out somewhere in public -- like in a bar, and put it on the table, people comment on it. I think people are used to seeing iPhones everywhere, but not as used to seeing this.
  4. I listen to a wide range of albums... as long as there is substance in their lyrics. Depeche Mode, Rolling Stones, R.E.M., Janis Joplin, Fleetwood Mac, Eurythmics, Tom Petty, Marilyn Manson, Joni Mitchell, The Doors, Nirvana, Journey, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, just to name a few. In my 33 years, there is only one album I've ever encountered that is flawless. From beginning to end, you never need to skip a track. It never boasts. It never tries to hard. It's truthful. It's honest. It's magic. No, it's not Sgt. Pepper. It's this:
  5. It's easily one of the best shows currently on TV. My "Best show of all time" choice would go to Seinfeld. I've watched AHS since the beginning and enjoyed every season (although I thought season 3 was the weakest of the bunch). It really keeps you guessing. Jessica Lange is amazing; she is one of the very few REAL actors we have left.
  6. Shockwave was featured on the VHS "Roller Coaster Thrills" (1988). As a child, I watched this so many times that I nearly wore-out the tape. Take note, kiddies: there was no Google or YouTube back then. Aside from a few books, this was all we had. On a "corny" scale of 0 to 10, this was at least an 8. The video opened with a young kid who was too short to ride SFMM's Colossus, so he sat on the bench while his older brother got in line. Meanwhile, a creepy ice cream vendor in a white suit & white hat approached the kid, and boastfully told him that he's ridden "all the top-rated coasters across the country." (Way to rub it in, jerk.) The video cut to POV's of Colossus, Shock Wave, PKI's Vortex, The Big Bad Wolf, and others -- all set to horrid music that varied from guitar rock to full-blown orchestra. All the while, the kid and the creepy ice cream vendor closed their eyes and imagined riding the coasters together. In reality, they never left the bench.
  7. I suspect Twisted Twins might re-open in 2016, but not 2015. They are slowly refurbishing/re-opening rides over the course of several years. Generally that is a wise decision in business. Don't bite off more than you can chew.
  8. ...renaming ALL Six Flags coasters after Cedar Fair names. "This outta show 'em!" sneered Six Flags CEO James Anderson. They re-named Goliath as "Millennium Force", Re-named all of the Batman clones as "Talon", and re-named American Eagle as "Gemini." Cedar Fair held a secret meeting and decided...
  9. Retirement
  10. Rock 'n Roller Coaster at Disney-MGM Studios, FL. I rode the year it opened in 1999. I recall the launch was an incredible rush. The rest of it was a smooth, easy-to-ride coaster that had very little intensity or surprises. Even back then, I thought it was appropriate for families.
  11. Skipping ^ because the image does not display. Responding to ^^...
  12. Wonka
  13. Confession. I had to RCDB this topic. 1981 baby! (The start of an amazing era of growth in the USA, by the way.) 3.) Jet Scream, SFStL. Pure Schwarzkopf bliss. 2.) American Eagle, SFGAm. Still one of the most majestic woodies in the US. 1.) The Bat, KI. Legendary.
  14. A REAL walk of shame (walking home in public in the clothes you wore the night before, after a one-nighter) happens after a "ride" with a casual hook-up. Being denied a ride is not the same thing. My body type has never been denied riding a coaster. But I recall one particular obese man who tried to ride Vortex at Kings Island when I was a ride op back in 2001. After he entered the car, it was clear that the restraint wouldn't lock. My colleague suggested that we tell him he couldn't ride, but I didn't give up. I used my hands and my foot, pushed HARD, and forced the restraint closed. One click was enough for him to ride. He loved the Vortex, and he thanked me when he left the station.
  15. As a 10-year-old kid, I used to love watching the Step By Step intro just for the amusement park shots. Of course those were the pre-YouTube days, when we didn't have the luxury of watching any coaster POV at a moment's notice. Coaster footage was much harder to find back then. Side note: Patrick Duffy may have played Uncle Frank on that show, but he'll always be Bobby Ewing to me.
  16. In line for Raging Bull at SFGAm, I overheard a girl in her early 20's tell her friends: "This ride doesn't have loops, but they still make you wear a shoulder harness because it goes so fast."
  17. Sexy Goliath-style orange/teal colors.
  18. I used to say that too, but I've learned to love the larger screen size of my HTC One. I would never go back to a smaller screen. Amazingly enough, it does fit in my jeans pocket. Of course, I'm not a hipster so I don't wear skin-tight pants.
  19. Love that winter pic of Mantis. Below is my #1 favorite snowy pic from CP. (It also works perfectly as desktop wallpaper.) http://pichost.me/1296548/
  20. ^ Call it a hunch, but I don't think the position of the park webcams are necessarily related to rides that are on the chopping block. The other webcam is aimed at Top Thrill Dragster, and yesterday it was aimed on the midway. I think they're just showing various nice views of the park.
  21. When people begin talking with the word "so". What's even worse is when people TYPE it. Example: "So, I was driving home from work the other day..." It's one thing to say it, but to actually type it? Dumb.
  22. "New for 2015: official Cedar Point logo pencils available in all park gift shops!" I can hardly wait for the big announcement.
  23. Seriously? Son of Beast was f'ing incredible. It was powerful and brutal, the kind of coaster where you literally hang on for dear life. From the first curved drop out of the station, the track used to hum like there was electricity flowing through it, and the train roared as it rolled out of the station... and that was before you even reached the lift. The ride was a brilliant mix of shattering earthquake, silent grace during the massive loop, intense forceful helices during the second half, all before it jumped up into the final breaks, slamming you to a grinding halt. Wooh! The very definition of a wild ride.
  24. Flight Deck. A flight deck is the large flat surface of an aircraft carrier where jets take-off and land. Dumb. Runners-up: Pepsi Max Big One. It's trying too hard. "Max" and "Big" in the same name is overkill. Scream! It's like the Six Flags execs were completely out of unique name ideas when they settled on that. Insane Speed. It hits 53 mph. Last time I checked, that's not insane--it's actually fairly average.
