  1. The new water slide is named RipCurl Racer. http://www.darienlake.com/splashtown/ripcurl
  2. The Silver Comet really isn't set up for two train operation. I don't think a second train would speed up operations there anyway, not with the current lap bar/stapling policy. Marty's reply when asked about a second train was, "They don't build churches for Easter." I don't think he'd invest the time or the money, IMHO.
  3. If you like more traditional parks with older and unique rides, you should check out Idlewild (closer to Kennywood) and Dutch Wonderland (closer to Hersheypark).
  4. Here's my list: Americana/LeSourdeville Beech Bend Park Boardwalk and Baseball Busch Gardens Tampa Busch Gardens Williamsburg Canada's Wonderland Canobie Lake Park Cedar Point CNE Coney Island Conneaut Lake Park Crystal Beach Darien Lake Delgrosso's Park Dorney Park Dutch Wonderland Erie County Fair Erieview Park Family Kingdom Myrtle Beach Geauga Lake Great Escape Hersheypark Holiday World Idlewild Indiana Beach Kennywood Kentucky Kingdom Kings Dominion Kings Island Knoebels Lake Compounce Lakemont Park Marineland Martin's Fantasy Island Michigan's Adventure Morey's Piers Pavilion Park Myrtle Beach Quassy Rye Playland Seabreeze Six Flags America Six Flags Great Adventure Six Flags New England Six Flags Over Mid-America (1978) Story Land Stricker's Grove Sylvan Beach Waldameer Walt Disney World EPCOT Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World MGM Studios Whalom Park Williams Grove Wyandot Lake It averages out to a park a year. I'd better step up the pace a bit.
  5. Cedar Fair Platinum Pass Six Flags Gold Pass Darien Lake Season Pass
  6. Please tell me he was able to save the Fighting Cats stunt from Williams Grove. I was only able to go through this ride once before they re-themed it and I really look forward to seeing this ride up and running again.
  7. And definitely spoken by a conservative. The other side of the aisle would be falling all over themselves helping this family take down an evil capitalist Kulak wrecker while encouraging the idiots of the world to keep breeding more and bigger idiots. If a lawsuit goes through over this, society is doomed.
  8. The Beast - remove the brakes from the first drop and the drop into the double helix. The Comet at Great Escape - move it back to Crystal Beach where it belongs. Silver Comet (Martin's Fantasy Island) - move it to a park that knows how to run a coaster.
  9. I haven't yet had any issues on any particular ride, though I am slowing down a bit. In my youth a visit to Crystal Beach was all about running from ride to ride for as long as we could stay there. In my mid-20's to mid-30's, a visit to a park was more brisk walking. Now I'm content to leisurely stroll through a park. While rides don't bother me in the least, the one thing I'm having more and more trouble dealing with are the crowds in major theme parks. I'm getting to the point where I can't tolerate being surrounded by GP in the queue lines anymore, or want to deal with mobbed midways. Anyone else having trouble with the rampant herds of GP that thunder across the walkways in major parks?
  10. The only ride on my bucket list is the Turbo. I intend to ride one even if I have to go all the way to Australia to do it. Plus, I've heard there are still wood-tracked Mack Wild Mice in Australia.
  11. Our last ride of the day was in the second front "floater" seat. It was better, but still disappointing. The Comet was my home coaster for twenty-five years. I took my first ride on it in 1971. Of all the adjectives I've used to describe it, "rough" was one I never thought I'd need. It's a classic ride and deserves to be treated better. I rarely fill out surveys, but when Great Escape sent me one after our visit I blasted them about the Comet at every opportunity. A lot of people say that Six Flags pays attention to guest opinions, so we'll see when I go back next summer. Needless to say, I'm not optimistic.
  12. It was rougher than I ever remember it being, including all the years I rode it at Crystal Beach. My seat has always been in the very back, right-hand side. Hitting the bottom of the first drop nearly jarred my fillings loose. The turns weren't too bad, but a lot of the straight sections were terrible. It was a major disappointment and quite a shock, since the last time I was there it was running glass smooth.
  13. If they don't do some major track work on the Comet this winter they'll be down to none, if they remove the Bobsleds.
  14. Cedar Point had T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies themed for Halloweekends, and a lot of Peanuts Halloween merchendise. I didn't notice any pins as I'm not really into pins. They did have some new patches, so I picked up one for Rougarou, Wicked Twister and the Cedar Creek Mine Ride.
  15. There were a good many younger children staying for the Haunt when I was at Cedar Point in September. They were even selling light-up necklaces so the scare actors would know not to scare anyone wearing one. I saw many full-grown adults wearing them, which made me question the point of their even being there.
  16. South Park Cow Days: the Line Ride. http://www.southparkstudios.fi/clips/150815/the-line-ride
  17. Too many great endings to choose a "best" one, but the lamest has to be Adventure Express at Kings Island. The way the ride ended was definitely a WTF moment.
  18. Of all the Cedar Fair parks I've been to for Haunts, Cedar Point does the best job of it. I live close enough to Wonderland that I could go several times a year but usually go only once during the summer. I'd love to check out their Haunt but won't do so unless they make it free for pass holders. I could live with it being a separate event but having to pay extra on top of what I paid for a Platinum Pass is unacceptable. Perhaps if enough pass holders complained to management they'd at least change the policy for season and Platinum Pass holders.
  19. Steel: any Vekoma hang-n-bang (too many to keep separate in my aging mind) Wood: Lake Compounce Wildcat, Williams Grove Cyclone, Wilde Beast at Canada's Wonderland
  20. Great report! Were any of the haunts still open or was Halloweekends officially over?
  21. I was 2 and a half. That was my first visit to Crystal Beach. I vividly remember riding the Little Dipper in Kiddie Land and riding the Airborne (Paratrooper) in front of the Laff In the Dark and loved them both. I don't remember my first ever ride on the Giant Coaster, but it was my favorite until I was tall enough to ride the Comet.
  22. Where does one find this line jumper reporting hotline? I'm hitting SFNE and Great Adventure next year and I'd like to have their numbers in my contact list as well.
  23. Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I just installed the Android version of this on a LG tablet my wife wasn't using and I have what is probably a stupid question. How do you shut this game down? There doesn't seem to be any menu option to quit the game and this tablet doesn't seem to have an exit (or back) button like my phone does. This morning I had to shut the tablet down with the app still running so any advice or help would be appreciated. Edit: problem solved. Please ignore this post.
  24. I'll also be waiting awhile to purchase this. I normally wait for the holiday or mid-summer sales to buy my games. I just picked up South Park the Stick of Truth for $7.49. Planet Coaster, on the other hand, looks like a good pre-buy.
  25. With the season winding down, perhaps a Cedar Point employee can answer this question. Are the Halloween mazes left intact throughout the year, unless they're being re-themed (except Cornstalkers, of course)? I haven't been during the regular season for a few years but I don't recall the buildings being used for anything during that time.
