Great Escape on the 17th, followed by a candlelight ghost tour of Ft. William Henry and dinner at the Adirondack Pub & Brewery. -

Love the photos! We're planning a trip to Munich for March 2017 and I can't wait to get there and visit the Hofbrauhaus and the Paulaner Braukeller. -
I second the SCAD tower. I'd like to do the one in Orlando, if it's still open. I've been Skycoasting and on Slingshots and I prefer the latter. The Skycoaster at Kennywood is really fun as you're hoisted up over the lagoon, making it seem all the higher. I want to do the 300 footer in Kissimmee eventually. After that, I'd like to do that jump out of the 102nd floor of the Stratosphere in Vegas. The CN Tower should offer something like that. Also count me in as a fan of the Skyscraper. Going backwards was kind of lame but pulling G's against the harness and looking straight up (down?) at a concrete go-kart track at Cedar Point was worth the price of the ride.

I too will be there on Sunday to hear the Frankfurters play. I can see why they wouldn't want to put on the Halloween event, especially if the park is under new ownership at this point. Marty told me that Fantasy Island lost money every year they put on Haunted Fantasy Island. For the amount of work they have to put in to make it halfway decent, the return for smaller parks just isn't worth the time and money expenditures.

We tried Slaughter House this year and it was meh. Lots of fake blood and guts, carcasses hanging around and one fairly decent stunt near the end. The line moved fairly quickly once they got it opened and the views of Millennium Force running made the wait tolerable. -

The Complimentary Fast Lane Plus you get for renewing your Platinum Pass is not valid on Saturdays, otherwise we would have purchased them for that day. How it works is when you renew your pass (I'm not sure if you get one for a Cedar Point Season Pass or just for a Platinum Pass) you receive a voucher good for one Fast Lane Plus pass that can be redeemed at any ticket booth at the park. I let my wife have the voucher then purchased a Fast Lane Plus for myself for the Friday we'd be there. When you purchase Fast Lanes online you have to specify the day, as they're priced differently for Fridays vs. Saturdays. I printed out both vouchers and we redeemed them for wrist bands Friday evening before we went into the park. Be aware the Fast Lane Plus is good only for rides and not for the Haunts. We used the Fright Lane entrances for Zombie High and Hexed without problem by showing our wristbands, but were turned away from the Eerie Estate. After this was pointed out to us, we rode and hit the haunts late after the lines had decreased somewhat. -

I was there this past Friday and the crowds were not at all bad. We had Fast Lane Plus passes since I got one free from renewing my Platinum Pass, and other than riding Maverick at the beginning of the night I didn't even think we needed them. We walked onto Millennium Force at some point after dark and only waited two trains for the back seat. We usually go the first or second weekend so I don't know how bad it gets as it gets closer to Halloween, but I can tell you the crowds on Saturday were horrendous, despite the rain. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

Overheard in line for Blue Streak at Cedar Point last night, from a well-informed tweener to his peers: "This is the oldest ride in the park. It was built it 1924 or sometime around then." To be fair, he was only off by 40 years. Also heard this morning in Cedar Point's Town Hall Museum, on a looping DVD chronicling the history of Cedar Point: "the Cedar Point Cyclone was designed by Harry Traver, who also designed the infamous Coney Island Cyclone." Not even close. Geez, would a little research have killed them? -

Just waiting out the rain in our room at the Breakers. I saw this outside a shop this morning and thought, if this doesn't prove P. T. Barnum right then I don't know what else would. Mr. Peabody says, "If you don't want to get scared, save yourself $8 and stay out of the park after dark." Fiscally sound and makes for fewer strollers to dodge in the outdoor scare zones. Makes too much sense for the GP mind to grasp, I guess. Basic GP intelligence test. I believe someone wondered whether an old Mantis car would show up at Halloweekends. -

...ahem, excuse me? Oh, well screw Halloweekends then. I'm boycotting this entire event. The Sky Ride is open on Saturdays, weather permitting, which may well be a factor today. -

Is Rougabrew available anywhere in the park? We're staying at the Breakers and will be checking out the Surf Lounge. I'm hoping they have it there or perhaps at the Red Garter. -

The "Edge of Madness" show in the Red Garter Saloon is pretty well done. Last year the Midnight Syndicate show in the Good Times Theater was excellent. I hope they bring it back in a different venue. If you don't like the haunted mazes proper, at least walk through the outdoor themed areas as they have no queues. We're going this weekend and can't wait. -

Im pretty sure 2020 is going to be a big year for CP If they ever intend to get a B&M Flyer, 2020 would be the year to do it. -
B&M Restraints: Old vs. New

Being on the small and rather compact side, I much prefer the new restraints. Mrs. Peabody agrees the less head-banging the better. -

Personally, I think it's a great addition to the park and I can't wait to ride it. I also think that Valravn isn't as earth-shattering or impressive as some think it should be because CP went a more conservative route to save resources for whatever's coming in 2020. That announcement, I'm sure, will make everyone forget about their issues with Valravn. -

I hope they keep some of that around to be seen at Halloweekends. That throne is a photo-op for sure. -
Worst Ride Replacements/Downgrades
Mr.Peabody replied to Pyrozooka0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One of my pipe dreams is once Marineland's owner passes on, the park is retransformed into a modern day Crystal Beach. Crystal Beach should have never died. Sadly, even if a massive ice storm rolled in off the lake and completely razed the Yecch and Tetanus Club, Crystal Beach could never return. Even if they tried, too much time has passed and what little remained of it has been scattered to the winds (and to collectors). Between the litigation-happy nature of life today and humanity's all-out effort to constantly breed new and improved idiots, they'd never get insurance. Besides, a lot of the appeal of Crystal Beach was the history, the memories and the nostalgia. All but the memories are gone and a new Crystal Beach would mean nothing to the only demographic that could support it. I mentioned to a girl serving beer at a Bisons game that the Resurgence Brewery Loganberry Wit earned points from me because it reminded me of Crystal Beach. This girl didn't even know there had been a park there, and she was old enough to serve beer. That's the oldest I've felt in a very long time. -
Worst Ride Replacements/Downgrades
Mr.Peabody replied to Pyrozooka0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All of Crystal Beach's Art Deco architecture, a 1916 side friction roller coaster, a Herbert Schmeck classic PTC coaster and classic dark rides/walk-throughs being replaced by those crackerbox palace condos. That moose ride is extremely popular with the younger set, and a real blast to ride to boot. To each his own. -

Can't wait to ride this next year, and also see how much construction progress they've made by the time I get there next weekend. One thing I'm surprised no one has mentioned: that logo will look fantastic on a patch. -

I"m thinking of heading out to Fright Fest this season. Is Fright Fest a separate charge event, or can you ride the Comet all day then hit the haunted houses at night? I'm thinking of getting a season pass for next year then upgrading to the 2016 Gold Pass, and Great Escape is the closes Six Flags property to me.
