  1. I recall hearing a few years or so ago that Rye found a full set of plans from the Airplane Coaster in one of their filing cabinets. We should heavily push for a rebuild. It would be a phenomenal event.
  2. Next time any of you are in the Western New York area, please treat yourself to a Mighty Taco El Nino Burrito. I'd be curious to find out what you think of them.
  3. Might Taco puts all other burritos to shame and is better than any burger except for White Castles, which I cannot get here (though they're sold in Detroit, which baffles me). Eat an El Nino Burrito from Mighty Taco and you'll never set foot in a Taco Bell again.
  4. Royal Blue and gold would have tied in with the Sabres, but I suppose they didn't want it to crash and burn. But Vancouver colors? How are they doing this season? I love it when they make the Finals, because they're always so entertaining when they lose.
  5. I have a cousin in Michigan. My favorite Michigan beer is Frankenmuth Dark. I haven't been there in many years, but someone told me they closed but are now open again. I'd love to go back there someday.
  6. Coming in 2020.............Hofbrauhaus Cedar Point!
  7. Frontier Tavern is located in the first building on your left once you go through MF tunnel on the trail, if heading towards Maverick. It's the building that housed the wood carver for many years. I'll definitely check that out this September. I'm well acquainted with the offerings of the Great Lakes Brewing Company. I'm particularly fond of their Nosferatu. It's not available for very long, though.
  8. Somehow I missed that last year. I'll have to rectify that when I go back in September. At that time they also have an interesting selection at Lusty Lil's, or wherever the "Edge of Madness" live show is performed. Hopefully they'll have some brand of Oktoberfest beers and not be charging $10 for them. We shall see. Just looking at the dining locations at Cedar Point. Red Garter Saloon is the venue for the "Edge of Madness" show. Would the Frontier Tavern referred to in the quote be the Last Chance Saloon/Palace Theater by the Mean Streak? I definitely want to check it out this fall, being a connoisseur of fine beer.
  9. I second the endorsement of Chickie's and Pete's. They are the best fries I've ever had. If Cedar Point would open a Boardwalk Fries stand instead of selling them only out of that cart by the train station they'd be serious competition. Cheese on a stick is also one of my favorites, and the huge kosher dill pickles they used to serve on a stick. Now they just plop them into a hot dog tray. I guess some kid stabbed another kid with the stick and they felt compelled to discontinue using them.
  10. That would be helpful for next season. At least I wouldn't be out anything for this year, even if the universe collapsed into a singularity and Cedar Far bought Darien Lake. I'd be happy if they decided to hold the Halloween event this year.
  11. This won't happen, but it brings up an interesting point: I bought a Cedar Fair platinum pass at the end of last season. The deal from Cedar Point was worth it, and I was going to Halloweekends anyway, as I do every year. I also bought a Darien season pass when they were on sale for $60 back in December. If Cedar Fair were to buy Darien Lake (and this won't happen - let me stress that), would I be reimbursed for my Darien Lake season pass by virtue of my Cedar Fair platinum pass? Let the discussions begin!
  12. I just got a confirmation email for Season Pass holders preview day. They're only opening Thunder Road and Rowdy's Ridge. Does anyone connected with the park know how long they'll be open on May 8th? I'd rather not blow a vacation day on the Viper. I could be there by 4 PM if I worked a full day.
  13. Don't miss the cheese-on-a-stick, the waffle ice cream sandwiches (literally Neapolitan ice cream between two square toasted waffles) and the blue birch beer. If you have room after all that, definitely eat at the Alamo restaurant. You will enjoy it.
  14. I also sampled Chickie & Pete's during Halloweekends last year and found them to be the best fries I've ever had. I'd really like it if Cedar Point sold Boardwalk Fries in other places than that one cart. I remember the Boardwalk Fries at Hersheypark and Dutch Wonderland being quite good. As for now, though, I'm satisfied with the dining options in the park and in the Breakers. I'm curious as to whether the new Surf Lounge will offer food or just drinks.
  15. Is the new Batman coaster any different in layout from the Green Lantern at SFMM? I've got a better chance of getting to LA than to Texas.
  16. Does anyone know how long this celebration is going to run? I'd love to go as I've never been to Disneyland but I'm not sure we can make it happen this year.
  17. The Mind Warp was fun, but the park never ran the fourth program for the paying public. The fourth program had the rows of seats swiveling from the beginning of the ride. I was told by several ride-ops that they only ran it for the employees in the morning. One more reason I gave up my season pass there. They have so much potential, but it seems they have very little interest in realizing it.
  18. The Moose on the Loose ride at Darien Lake. It may be a kid's ride, but it's fun.
  19. Should CP close the Turnpike cars, what will become of them? If they auction them or sell them I definitely want one. Do any other Cedar Fair parks have similar Turnpike cars? If any CP insiders get wind of the planned disposition of these cars, a head's up would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Harry Traver Herb Schmeck John Miller Anton Schwartzkopf
  21. A big part of the quality of the ride depends on the skill of the operator. The operator has control over the speed and rotation and it seems to me there's a certain amount of artistry involved, though I'm no expert. If you have an unskilled or uninspired operator, the ride won't be as good.
  22. Personally, I prefer Twister unless it's just finished raining. In that case Air Phoenix takes it hands down.
  23. Banshee. Our first ride was pretty good, the second had a very noticeable rattle (different train). That rather surprised me.
  24. This is a creepypasta, so its authenticity can't be assumed but I found it curious there was no mention of "Missouri Jane" or the cemetery on the property. http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Tower_Johnny
  25. They use the roundhouse in Frontier Town for a haunted walk-through during Halloweekends (the Asylum, or the Eternity Infirmary as it's called now, I believe). It's been quite awhile since I've gone during the regular season, but I would think they leave all the props and maze in there during the year. Were they to move this carousel, do you think they'd build another roundhouse or move the one it's currently occupying? Additionally, where will Midnight Syndicate perform next year? We saw their show this past September and really enjoyed it.
