  1. Makes me wonder what Knott's would've been like if it was sold to someone other than Cedar Fair. I mean if it were Herschend or Merlin's it could've had it's charm preserved. I hope one day things get better, because besides during Haunt, the park seems so empty these days... I hope that this doesn't become another Geauga Lake..
  2. I don't know what all the complaining is about. The wooden coaster that is probably the best in California, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Giant Dipper, is only 2640 feet long and only 75 feet tall. Not only is this coaster longer and higher than that, it's replacing a crap coaster which I'm sure no one would rather have there instead. So maybe we should be happy that one of the worst coasters in history is being replaced with a coaster built by one of the most reputable firms in the industry. So that alone increases the chance of Terminator: The Coaster being a great coaster in itself. Of course, maybe the only real way of knowing that its a good ride is waiting till we can ride it ourselves!
  3. I find the second to last photo the most interesting. Is that the outline of the new coaster?
  4. If my calculations are correct (which they probably aren't) you spent about 1000 dollars on stock. That's very risky, but you probably have seen some good money come your way. Anyways, right now I wouldn't invest in anything because I expect the stock market to just completely CRASH in the next 3 years. But if I had the chance to invest in something I'd buy stock in seeds. And a side note, my teacher has a chance in like the 60s-70s to invest in Disney for just 5 dollars for so much stock (can't remember) and he refused. I was shocked (though back then I wouldn't be) but he would've been rich (or atleast richer) now its amazing! Actually your calculations are almost dead on. I think that the stock will eventually rise. Nearly every stock is dropping right now, so maybe Lehman Brothers will recover when everything else does. However they are responsible for alot of what has happened in the past month.
  5. Let me tell you my situation, I bought 8,692 shares of Lehman Bros. at 17 cents each. If it goes up to it's original price earlier this year, I will make exactly $172,000. I don't think thats going to happen though.
  6. For me, the thing with Jaguar is the height restriction. 48 inches? A great family attraction cannot be ridden by families. Same with other attractions that have a potential to be great family attractions, but ridiculous height restrictions prevent them from doing so. (Bigfoot Rapids, Pony Express and others.) I remember going on Jaguar when I was four years old. But since CF took over, my six year old little brother still isn't tall enough. There was a time when the height restriction for Bigfoot Rapids was 36 inches. I have a lot of beef with Knotts, but probably the most noticeable problem to the GP is the most easily fixed. So fix the dang height restrictions Knotts! Oh, and I wish they would have longer operating hours. I've been there in the summer when they close at eight.
  7. Well I didn't really care for Mantis. I liked the first drop, but after that it was a little too rough on the family jewels. When I went on it, on the train before us, someone puked and they still let us on the train. It wasn't until the poor people who were in line for that row had already moved to their seats that anyone realized something was wrong. After that we had to get off the train while they cleaned the mess up and then send the train out empty a few times. About Millennium Force, I was incredibly disappointed with this ride. It was the one I was looking forward to the most and besides the first drop and the pull-out, I found it very boring. Maybe it was because I sat in the middle of the train? Didn't find it rough though. I guess we all have different definitions of rough and boring and exciting and of course, what makes a good coaster.
  8. I just hate it when someone or something comes in and tries to control something that was there before it. CGA was there for years before those buildings were built. Amusement parks are noisy, its in their nature. If you don't like noise, don't build next to an existing Amusement park!
  9. You guys can be dissapointed if you want to,but this has been my wet dream since 2002,and it`s still holding strong! Usually when it's holding strong for more than four hours you go see a doctor.
  10. Scat Man was actually the dance warmup we used in my old Show Choir. The only difficult thing about the song is the pronounciations, the melody is rather easy and the range isn't too big either. But I don't think I could perfect a song in a week in a half. Note: I would love to post a clip of me singing, I'll try to see if I can do it tonight. To Kalepi_Konei's question, about 90% of those who audition are actually really good. They cut most of the good singers in the first round and put through the majority of the bad ones to the next round. To make it past the producer's round is about a 1 in a 100 chance.
  11. Thanks for the offer Elissa, but the rules say if we wear outfits with logos we can be disqualified. I will however try to mention TPR if I make to the judge's round. Now, they've told us to pick multiple songs this year so we can show versatility. My song list is: Everything by Michael Buble. Song For You by Leon Russel Your Song By Elton John Fly Me to the Moon By Frank Sinatra Trust me, I'll be much better than that Acer who was on the show last year.
  12. I've actually already got the credit, my first audition was at the Rose Bowl. So when I was waiting in between the registration day and the audition day, I went to USH. But I should probably say where I'm from as well, I'm from San Diego, CA.
  13. For as long as I can remember the San Diego County Fair has featured the Hi-Miler. If I can remember correctly the coaster used to be blue and silver. Does anyone have any pictures of the coaster in it's early days? How long has it been around? I also remember another coaster by the name of Looping Star at the fair.
  14. Wow... Aftershock looks fantastic. To be honest I didn't think it would fit in with the "feel" of Silverwood. However there is something very SEXY about this mass of steel standing next to those two woodies. I think this addition foreshadows Silverwood's emergence as a real player in the west coast amusement park industry. I expect good things from Silverwood.
  15. A kid in my class a few years ago was talking about Boomerang at Knott's: "When you go down the hill you are going 600 MPH, then at the end of the ride, you slow down to 400 MPH just before you stop."
  16. Desperado at Buffalo Bill's in Primm, Nevada. There is absolutely nothing like being the highest thing for miles. In other words, the view is gorgeous!
  17. Thanks for the info Lance! Any news about a possible storyline?
  18. Hopefully, Donna Frye doesn't try to interfere this time. Although I do think that she has a point about JTA being ugly. It's a shame that it didn't turn out like the original renderings, it would have been gorgeous. Of course, I heard that it was Donna Frye's intervention that led Sea World to change the original plans anyways. A lot of enthusiasts started calling her "Fugly" when this happened. Anyways, I really like the sound of this, I'm not a big fan of inversions, but I am kind of hoping for one as there is not a park in San Diego that has one.
  19. Hmmmmmmm.... I've met alot. Donald Trump- I was picked out of a crowd of over 50,000 people at one of my Dad's real estate conventions to speak with the Donald, he heard my business ideas and said he was sure that I'm going to be a "Big success someday" and that I am a "terrific young man."
  20. Congratulations on going on your first looping coaster. At least your's was an Intamin. My first one was the fabulous red and yellow Togo machine o' death we all remember fondly as Windjammer. (I actually liked it the first time as well.) Things went downhill after that first ride.
  21. In my opinion the Rim Runner was much cooler before the late 90s. It used to have so much cool theming to it, but they removed most of it when the park really became focused on rides. Before the late 90s I believe the Adventuredome had 3 to 4 rides. It was also called the Grand Slam Canyon Adventure Dome. Does anyone have any pictures of the Rim Runner with it's old theming? I think it's a shame they're removing this ride, especially since now, Las Vegas won't have any water rides. Also the park was kinda designed around the ride's layout, so I wonder how they're going to get rid of the ride without making a mess of the Adventuredome?
