Who ever puked during or because of a ride?
boldikus replied to ItsMe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Over the past couple of years I've learned that I'll feel nauseous if I don't have something in my stomach before I ride so always eat something, even if its small, before riding. Tea cups made me puke years ago and ever since I just avoid anything that spins that tightly. The only times I can think of in the past couple of years of coaster riding where I felt nauseous was at Coasters After Dark 2014 after riding Bizarro (Medusa) 3 times in a row, so much so that I feared I might hurl while sitting on the break run. After sitting down for 30 and eating a pretzel I was fine and back in action. Another time was while Green Lantern after chugging beers in the parking lot on a hot day. Came on quick as soon as we went through the loop. While it was a tough lap to get through, I was fine after the ride, I think I just needed to burp. -
^ I saw multiple posts online that the park extended their hours to 10pm last night. The event is obviously a success, I'm stoked about that but more about the fact that it should be much better next year. Clearly the weather is helping immensely, they've gotten really lucky with that so far. I just hope they hire A LOT more people next year for this and open more areas of the park to spread the crowds out. Even if its just BBNP and Frontier, since RMT, Skyway and Bizarro could open. Having Plaza Del Carnival would be nice for obvious reasons but I would be totally OK with Golden Kingdom being closed again next year. And open more food places! They need to have every single place in the Boardwalk open - food and games. I haven't been back there since Black Friday but half of it was closed which I thought was weird, lame, and a huge missed opportunity for money making, not to mention spreading the crowds out. And I wonder if ToteMay will be open for this next year since it sits basically right behind the giant tree in the fountain on Main St.

Today marks the first time I went to the park and rode nothing. At least my nephew got on a few of the kiddie rides but man was it packed. Like Fright Fest level of packed. Unfortunately our day hit some snags early on so we didn't get there til 5, and it was a wait to get passed the toll booth, a wait to get into the lot, a huge ridiculous wait to get through security (30+ minutes), followed by a healthy wait to get in the main gate. I did manage to get my 2016 pass processed so that's nice that it's out of the way. But yeah no way was I waiting for food with insane waits like that, though we did finally spot the waffle place by the fountain. Smelled good, menu looked awesome. But oh man so packed. The only coaster line I checked was Nitro and it was into the switchbacks. Super bummed there aren't more places to eat and that they are so understaffed. We left at 7 and went to Wendy's. Feels weird to have gone and not ridden anything but not surprised with the weather that it was that packed. If the kid wasn't with us would have been a mandatory flash pass day for me. Didn't even make it over to Boardwalk. I have high hopes for next year but (maybe I'm just spoiled going so frequently) I can't deal with the park crowded like that. Edit: some photos

What is the best floorless?

Haven't ridden too many but: 1. Bizarro/Medusa 2. Rougarou 3. Hydra -
Agreed about getting it in while I can. I feel the same way - like now or never! With the next few weekends dedicated to holiday crap and this freak spring weather we're getting tomorrow and Sunday I need to get some rides in now as I'm not sure I'll even get to the park at all before the end of the year. I'll keep an eye out for ya. We're taking the nephew like the last few times so we'll be in the Safari Kids/Nitro/Movietown area for the most part.

Big Surprises on Coasters
boldikus replied to gerstlaueringvar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Has anyone mentioned the little airtime hill at the end of Fahrenheit? That got me. No airtime the entire ride and then BOOM! Also the corkscrew at the very end of Jokers Jinx - the train takes it very fast and forcefully. One of my favorite corkscrews on any coaster. -
^ Yes FP is still available but seems no one is using it. From experience and reports, the lines for coasters aren't bad if you go early in the day. Even later most people are going for the lights, food etc with most of the coasters a short wait. Looks like I also might be up there Saturday afternoon for a bit. Need a Nitro/B:TR/SM fix.

Which coasters are the "most fun" to ride?
boldikus replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Coasters that I find not necessarily the best or most intense, etc but just plain FUN. Skull Mountain Runaway Mine Train (SFGAdv) SooperDooperLooper Sky Rocket (Kennywood) Jack Rabbit (KW) The Great White (Moreys) Gemini Blue Streak (CP) Steel Force Nitro -
^ You're really making me wish I squeezed in some park time this weekend. Looks like it will have to be next. Speaking of which, local weatherman this morning is saying next weekend is going to have freakishly warm temps. I know not to trust him this far in advance but on this mornings broadcast he's boasting about 60 on Saturday and 65 on Sunday. If that turns out to be true, this is great for the park, the weather has really been cooperating for this event so far.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

The force awakens! Its like Oprah is screaming "And you get a lightsaber! And you get a lightsaber!" at all the CF parks. Really tho after the bad press it got this summer and the fact that's it going to be sitting right next to their big shiny new toy next year, it makes a whole lotta sense they are giving Raptor lots of love this off season. -

no question: JAWN. I use it for any and everything, and if you are are from Philly you likely do too. If you are not from Philly, you'll never understand. -
I think you hit the nail on the head right here. Haunt is what - 6 weekends out of the year? The coasters are open all season. If the coasters are always empty then those of us in the enthusiast world will always associate Dorney with being never crowded. I have GP friends who share that opinion when discussing Dorney. Its about reputation. It is what it is. What I don't understand is why it pisses you off that people would/wouldn't expect the park to draw crowds like GA or CP. I could see if you owned the park but what difference does it make if Dorney is known as a park that doesn't get seriously heavy crowds? As long as they are getting the crowds to keep them in business it makes no difference what their reputation is. I like Dorney probably more than most around here as a park in its own right. Talon and Possessed are big favorites of mine, and I like the park itself, even though the majority opinion seems to be that its "generic" and that its "lost its charm". The fact that it never seems to be crowded (from my own experiences and especially what basically anyone else ever tells me about their experiences there) is a really nice bonus. And speaking of Haunt, while that may be their busiest days of the year - I doubt you'll ever see Dorney as crowded as
