No shame in my game. I'll ride anything I want and could give a rats ass what anyone else thinks. That's their problem, not mine.

I've been following this dudes youtube channel for a minute. He is an artist/painter and works for Morey's hand painting their rides, among other things. His channel is generally awesome but here is a video showing how they hand paint the tea cups each season. Pretty amazing detail. There is also a nice little bit of drone footage of the piers and beach at the end of the clip. The rest of his channel is pretty entertaining as well. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] -

Moreys Piers Discussion Thread

Ugh, I missed that thanks to the insanity of closing weekend at Great Adventure, and came here to post it. What are they even thinking? I'm so disappointed to read that and I'm hoping its just a misprint and they meant The Great White. If its not, why would they dump $4million into that piece of crap? Has an SLC ever had its track replaced before? Where can I get some of that good sh*t Jack Morey is smoking? -

Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

Yes. I strongly suggest upgrading to the Season Pass as soon as you get there as it's a great deal. The best thing about it is that it's valid at all Six Flags parks. As soon as you process the pass, leave immediately (no need to get a handstamp) and get on I-95 North and go to Great Adventure. Yes, it is the Dorney of the Six Flags chain, at least in that respect. -
^ I've actually only ridden it once before (2 years ago as mentioned) and half the props and lights weren't working. Also I went into it not knowing it was a wild mouse so I was disappointed and have always felt like it was a waste of time. Yesterday I just went with the flow and just rode it, and wound up really enjoying myself. Not a huge fan of laterals (now that Im thinking about it TDK might be the source of my back/neck pain this morning) but all of the effects/props/etc seemed to be on and we were all laughing our asses off the whole ride.

Fixed. Oh yeah! Pictures! We may have been a little early. First stop Five laps right away before we had to give up the back row I call to order the Cult of Skull Mountain Gotta love sunset Nitro rides, even if its dipping into the 30s. Things cleared out pretty quick after dark. Quiet. You can't tell by this pic but Batman will rip your face off Sad face, don't want to leave. See you in a couple weeks amigos! I rode Dark Knight for the first time in 2 years and liked it! One last look after last rides of the season.

^ I can't believe you posted all that without mentioning the insanity that was Batman yesterday. WTF are they feeding that thing? While they stayed open, all the other B&Ms were limping to the finish line while Batman was just like oh its winter? Time to go faster! Oh and also getting stuck on the Nitro midcourse in the dark and waiting forever for them to come out to manually release the brake. And how Train B sounded like it was falling apart. Oh and also the kid wearing only a T-shirt on Nitro while we had 3+ layers on. Oh and also that you got to finally ride Skull Mountain back row with the president, CEO and chairman of the Skull Mountain cult / army / fan club (your words not mine) and how your light-up raver gloves helped us be able to see inside the ride. LOL Great day dude. You guys are hardcore (love it!), and so much fun. I had a blast. Great hanging out once again. Bill basically covered it. HITP was awesome, each of my four visits to the event went totally different but I got to try a bunch of food (read: waffles!!), ride all the operating coasters, some flats, some kiddie rides w/ my nephew, and I really loved the lights and decorations. Its funny to think back to when they announced the event and everyone was worried about the "weather permitting" fine print regarding the coasters. This park does not give a single sh*t. Here we were on closing night, in January, in 30 degree temps, re-riding Nitro endlessly (lost count after 12 laps) with a bunch of other coaster nutjobs who just didn't want the season to end. Super giant shouts out to the parks maintenance team who were definitely counting the minutes til 9pm. What a great way to end it. Only twelve weeks til we ride The Bull once again!

^ Depends on when, and don't buy a flash pass for Great Adv til you get there and feel it out. Gold Pass will usually do the trick (around $60 per person) but a Friday in early June before schools get out you may be ok. Just have to keep an eye out for school trips, youth outings, etc. usually advertised on the website. In summer its camp trips on weekdays, but you do get lucky with a quiet park sometimes (if its hot everyone goes to the waterpark, overcast or off/on rainy days etc) But being in a giant hot packed Six Flags park with nothing but teens and preteens will make the flash pass seem more than worth it. However, again some weekdays can be REALLY quiet. But if you do plan on hitting the park and want to get it all in over the course of one day or afternoon, and it is crowded, splurge. So worth it when its busy. And you'll probably want to ride El Toro more than once.

I'm no physics expert so in my very unscientific way of explaining why it seems more intense to me - Its not so much how it feels going through the bottom of the loop, its similar to a first drop where the weight of the train causes it to accelerate down into the loop therefore yanking the back of the train down with more whip therefore causing more pressure/g's. It does feel like it lets up a bit while traveling through the bottom and then back up as the train decelerates.

^ I agree, Green Lantern felt more forceful and fast than I remembered, as did Superman, though we did back row which always has more of a nice whip through the turns, not to mention how that glorious pretzel loop feels back there. Some REALLY close calls. I should have gotten video but they had sent around an empty train a few times (protein spill?) right before our 2nd group of rides and watching it out on the course from the station a few times it look like it almost stopped on the two big hills out in the woods. The wind gusts yesterday certainly weren't helping.

Coasters at Night

I'm sure The Beast is gonna get the most love here but I haven't ridden it so I'm going with Nitro. Millennium Force is a close 2nd. Skyrush also. -
As I explained in the SFGadv thread last night, Ive put on some weight this last year and combined with winter clothes had issues *almost* not fitting into Batman yesterday and Talon back in October. While I managed on both, yesterday it took the might of myself and two ops to get the restraint to close/buckle to snap, and it was so tight throughout the ride that when we hit the brakes I immediately unlocked my buckle for some relief, and the restraint popped open a good 8-10 inches from my chest/stomach. Even though we were now just advancing back into the station I instinctively grabbed it and pulled it back toward me, kinda freaked out a little knowing that the buckle was doing most of the work holding me in tightly. Then again its all positive Gs so I probably would have been fine. Still a little unnerving though.

^I was just an idiot and didn't really dress for it. Just a t-shirt, hoodie and windbreaker, no hat or gloves. Obviously had both hoods up on everything but it just feels so wrong to ride Nitro with my hands in my pockets. The thing is we've had such warm weather I have not unpacked my winter clothes since we moved to the new house lol. I need to find my hat and gloves if I plan on going tomorrow. I warned you it was pricey! For the two hot chocolates and one waffle it was $22! One hell of a waffle tho. I really enjoyed that after all our rides - just sitting at the tree and taking my time eating and taking it all in, kind of like reflecting on how this season unfolded. It was a great day, shame we couldn't link up this time. We had literally left the park 10-15 minutes before I got your text, and had been debating to stay but the cold just did us in. All the TPR GreatAdv regulars need to have a meetup in 2016. Yes please? Skull Mountain takeover and all.
