  1. ^ LOL I probably love Bizarro more than most on here. Real talk though anyone else as surprised as I am that there is vertical construction already? Based on GreatAdv's track record w/ opening new rides, I thought for sure Playlands Castaway Cove (Jersey's other new S&S) would have a head start on them. Regardless I am excited to see both of these coasters finally taking shape.
  2. Sorry, slow day at work. I'm posted up in this thread like
  3. Heads up yall, that page on the Great Adventure website mentioned earlier (but wasnt working) is now live and we have vertical construction! https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/attractions/new-2016/construction
  4. Actually this is two years in a row this park did it. Looping Dragon > El Diablo, Total Mayhem > The Joker.
  5. I can't say who came up with it, but early last year the park sent out a survey with ride and theme ideas and "Total Mayhem" was one of the choices for a ride name. Apparently it was the most popular answer?
  6. Sooooo maybe the retracking of the Nor'easter was a typo? The Wildwood Boardwalk FB page just posted this drone video of retracking currently going on over at The Great White. Not that it really needed it, but I guess now we can rejoice!? If anything I'm happy that turnaround before the bunnyhops is getting the treatment, it was easily the most jarring part of the ride. Also, wonder if Martin & Vleminckx and doing the retracking since they did this a few years ago?
  7. Actually you are right now that I look closer there's a few. But no one w/ shorts. The attire represented does not scream summer!
  8. Again, I think this is an improvement. I don't understand how anyone could think this looks worse than the original paint scheme. And I am ecstatic we are getting a big new ride that will keep people occupied while I ride El Toro and Nitro. Also this was pointed out in the Great Adv Connoisseurs FB group: If the renderings are to be believed, we are getting a giant HAHAHA sign in the plaza in front of the ride. I love it! Is it just me or is it weird that everyone in the rendering is wearing pants? LMAO
  9. Yes! It looks much better than the ketchup/mustard track. I'm digging it. Doesn't feel any more out of place than Bizarro in Frontier Adventures or Superman and GL in the Boardwalk.
  10. Just a SF pass. I might as well get a Morey's pass but they are so damn expensive. I'll stick to tickets there.
  11. Kind of crazy how much more Windseekers cost, considering how much they breakdown and how much they generally suck compared to Star Flyers lol
  12. Sorry I am just seeing this. The tickets for that day (Friday of Memorial Day weekend) I think were $40 and we got $10 off each. So we paid $30 a piece. Is that what you are asking?
  13. Team Gemini here. Total surprise and rate it highly. Great little coaster, especially when racing. The mine train is completely forgettable. Maybe that's because it was one of the last things we did all weekend or that I barely fit but that's some nice real estate they could use for something new. Historical significance or not, Corkscrew is a travesty.
  14. Anyone wanna go for a ride on Mister Bonestripper?
  15. Its about an hour from both NYC and Philly. Depending on when we go if traffic is really light we've gotten there in 40-45 minutes and I'm practically in downtown/center city Philly. Sunday mornings are the best, if we take the backroads we are there in no time.
  16. Just saw on the local news Jackson has already gotten 11.5 inches. I'd love to wander around the park in a foot of snow.
  17. My Mom is getting some major flooding in Wildwood - she sent me pics and it looks like the Titanic with flooded streets and giant chunks of ice in them. She's right by the back bay so they flood all the time, and it was expected. So naturally, I checked Playland's webcam to see if the construction site was flooded. Looks OK so far. More track on site. And the 24 hour recap (if you scroll down) shows the snow moving in. Pretty cool. > Look < Over here in Philly we woke up to a foot of snow.
  18. We loved Kennywood. It has a folksy feel to it and I wish we could have spent more time there. There is a slight chance I may make it back there this summer as my other half has a work thing in Pittsburg in June. We'll see. You might remember from my report we more or less stopped there on our day long drive out to CP, so we were only there for 5 hours or so, therefore I have no input regarding hotels. The area right around the park, as mentioned here, is a little dicey and I'm not sure I would have wanted to stay right there. So there's that. I can't compare the park to KK as I haven't been there but KW has some great flats (Bayern Kurve was a fave), and the 5 coasters we did (Phantom, Sky Rocket, Jack Rabbit, Thunderbolt, Racer) we all really liked - Phantom is a very special kind of coaster. Its got an old school intensity to it but the airtime is amazing and I'm not sure I can describe how amazing that 2nd drop is. I was also a big fan of Sky Rocket, even after we did Maverick the day after, and Jack Rabbit is one of my top woodies. Most of the ride just has a great classic woodie vibe (with practically no restraints), but the double drop is worth a stop at the park alone. One of those "must do that again/get right back on" rides. Tickets were $10 off if you buy them at the Giant Eagle supermarket around the corner from the park. That's all I got. Oh and we all hated the Potato Patch fries. (Don't believe the hype!)
  19. Surprised no one has mentioned the Mark Whalberg/Reese Witherspoon coasterporn scene in "Fear".
  20. There's a thread about this already.
  21. ^ If you've been to the park on a summer day you would understand. Most of the people in here go to the park a lot and we all know a park like Great Adv needs high capacity rides - that's a fact, not an opinion. It certainly doesn't make us dumb to be concerned about that. The capacity thing hasn't been brought up here in months - or maybe I missed a recent post, I dunno, but its absolutely a valid concern. I'm not saying its a low capacity ride, but that rides at Great Adv need to be high capacity. Bottom line the grass is always greener. Sucks for you Italy is not getting a new ride but that has nothing to do with Great Adventures 2016 addition. Mostly everyone here is grateful we are getting something, its just not what a lot of us hoped for. Forums exist for people to talk and exchange opinions, and that's all anyone is doing. Sure there will be whiners, it comes with the territory. Also chill with the ALL CAPS. It indicates you are yelling at someone.
  22. Great photos, thanks for sharing! Raptor looks amazing!
