  1. I'm definitely not surprised, just bummed. They are such good rides, but I never saw anyone riding Dorney's. At least I still have one I can ride at Morey's.
  2. Ugh. I mean, it did seem like no one ever rode it but I friggin love those things. Also, this is now two flats they've removed in the past year and they are getting nothing for 2016 (not that I was a fan of Hangtime). What is going on? When I think "good flat collection" I think Dorney, and that's two pretty big ones they just squashed. What's interesting is they are so close to each other - are they freeing up space for something? Probably not but a little speculation is always fun.
  3. ^ Yep! That was such a fun day. It's pretty insane that the park reopens in 68 days.
  4. ^ Yeah that was my point. I'm a big dude so chance of someone smaller sitting with me is usually high. This has never been an issue w/ SM ops, not once. On one of my rides on closing day they didn't even check the lapbar - like didn't even touch it, and it was a good 4 inches off my legs. As they're dispatching us I'm like "Um are you guys gonna check... oh whatever BEST RIDE EVER!" Luckily coasterbills g/f was sitting with me in the last row and she's about half my size so we got ridiculous airtime over the drop.
  5. Um, is this new? And what does the front car have to do with anything? And how come it seems the SM crew usually doesn't check my restraint at all? Did the Mountain finally eject a guest? Has the park become hip to our little secret? Is this real life? *don't bother asking me why I was on the Skull Mountain page.
  6. ^ Yep! Screenshots from the parks Facebook page attached. Apparently the other two are kiddie coasters but I read somewhere that I cannot find now that one of them is going *around* Gale Force. So good news for Jersey credit whores: with ToteMay @ GreatAdv you are getting 4 new ones this year lol. They are having a contest to name one of the other two coasters (yes, I entered) and winner gets all kinds of tickets and whatnot. Details on their page. Name that ride! Note the "3 new coasters" bit
  7. I looked briefly at the itinerary and sat back and waited for this response.
  8. ^ Track and supports have arrived. Caught this photo a member of the Great Adv FB group nabbed from a cam of some sort - trying to find out if there is a construction cam we can use to check as it should start going vertical any day now. edit: we DO have a cam on the parks double shot. You can check it out here. Sure is gonna be a tight squeeze, I can't imagine how they are going to fit two other coasters in there but it'll be fun to watch them do it.
  9. SFA as a park in general does leave a bit to be desired, but I feel it gets more slack than it deserves. If its not crowded you could get everything done in just 2-3 hours, which we were able to do, and then we spent the rest of the day re-riding what we liked. That said, Superman, Wild One and Jokers Jinx are all great coasters, the rest of the line-up goes from kinda lame (Roar, Mind Eraser) to flat out terrible (Apocalypse, Ragin Cajun, Batwing). Kings Dominion on the other hand I've heard mostly good things about and its a park that sits very very high on my bucketlist (mostly because of I305 but a good chunk of the rest of the line-up looks good too).
  10. Look guys, relax. LOL. All I said was it was the 2nd best drop in the park, I wasn't comparing it to other drop rides. I'm sure there is a thread buried on this forum where we can rank drop towers we've ridden lol. I know folks around here aren't the biggest fans of the new Intamin drop towers. I get it. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Intamin 1st gens and lucky enough to have one an hour away at Dorney. I'm also a huge fan of S&S (also at Dorney) and Larson (I can ride one at Moreys or Knoebels) towers as the S&S's definitely provide more airtime and the Larsons a more sudden "WTF!" feeling. But nothing can compare to Zum's view, the length of the fall, and the speed at which you are going when you reach the brakes. Zum absolutely trumps any other drop tower I've been on for those reasons alone. Not to mention to openness of the restraints - Zum basically has a lapbar. Also, I kinda like that the drop starts off almost mild and only gets more intense as you fall. Its a totally different experience than the other drop rides mentioned but my point is none of them are at Great Adv. So, as far as drops at Great Adv, its my 2nd favorite after Toro. In fact just out of boredom, my ten favorite *drops* at the park (not considering any of the rest of each ride): El Toro Zumanjaro Nitro Kingda Ka (only good part of the ride) Batman (specifically in the back of the train) Skull Mountain Green Lantern (as much as I trash it I do love the first drop/loop) Superman Bizarro (love the ride but the drop is the lamest part - I enjoy the drop off the midcourse more) Runaway Mine Train (both the drop off the helix and airtime hill over the lake)
  11. Its because its awesome. Easily the 2nd best drop on any ride in the park.
  12. This, and when you're going up that lift with the lights shining up into the sky for what seems like forever it really feels like the ride's going to take everyone on the train into outer space.
  13. Killer photos, thanks for sharing! Stole the first one for my FB banner.
  14. Nice to see Batman getting so much love. That thing will rip your face off!
  15. ^ OK. 11. Buckaneer 12. Blackbeards 13. Skyway 14. The Dark Knight 15. Houdini 16. Kingda Ka 17. Congo Rapids 18. Road Runner Railway I've done all of the existing coasters, but only some of the flats. I have never ridden Tango, Twister, Jolly Roger, Deja Vu, the Tea Cups or El Diablo. Also none of the upcharges. And I haven't done the safari since I was a kid and monkeys tore up my dads stationwagon. #greatadvconfessions
  16. Soooooo now that our off season is really real and beginning to sink in this thread is sinking down the first page lol so how about everyone rates their current favorite rides at the park or something? LOL I thought it would redundant & stupid to start a whole thread about it, so let's have it, geeks. Let's stick to existing rides? I know Toro will come out tops for most but curious what everyones current rankings are now that 2015 has come to a close. Any Looping Diablo fanatics among us? I'll get the ball rolling.... 1. El Toro 2. Nitro 3. Zumanjaro 4. Batman: The Ride 5. Bizarro 6. Skull Mountain 7. Superman: Ultimate Flight 8. Runaway Mine Train 9. Sawmill Log Flume 10. Skyscreamer Maybe if I finally do Ka in the front row this year it'll crack my top ten, but as of right now it sits lower than The Dark Knight haha.
  17. I would buy a bunch of stuff from Intamin. A megalite A prefab woodie airtime machine A medium sized accelerator ala Storm Runner An impulse of course I'd need a Screaming Swing aka the best flat ever. and then for good measure a Batman clone or a custom invert.
